For Herod feared John, knowing that he was a just man and an holy, and observed him; and when he heard him, he did many things, and heard him gladly.
The chief priests and the scribes heard this, and
began seeking how to destroy Him; for they were afraid of Him, for the whole crowd was astonished at His teaching.
The Lord gave the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians. Furthermore, the man Moses himself was greatly esteemed in the land of Egypt, both in the sight of Pharaoh’s servants and in the sight of the people.

Although Herod wanted to put him to death, he feared the crowd, because they regarded
John as a prophet.
But if we say, ‘From men,’ we fear the
people; for they all regard John as a prophet.”
In a similar way these are the ones on whom seed was sown on the rocky places, who, when they hear the word, immediately receive it with joy;
Then they believed His words;
sang His praise.
Behold, you are to them like a sensual song by one who has a
beautiful voice and plays well on an instrument; for they hear your words but they do not practice them.
He was the lamp that was burning and was shining and you were willing to rejoice for a while in his light.
