Taking Up One's Cross To Follow Jesus

³⁴ He then spoke to both his disciples and the crowd. He said: If any man would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his stake and follow me. ³⁵ For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel’s will save it. ³⁶ What does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his life?
