then he order'd the people to sit down in distinct companies upon the green grass.

bring them hither, said he.

and he bid the people sit down on the ground.

for they were about five thousand. but Jesus said to his disciples, make them sit down by fifties in a company.

happy those servants, whom the master at his arrival shall find thus watching: I assure you, he shall gird himself, and make them sit at table, and will come to serve them.

upon which his mother bid the servants do whatever he should order.

but Jesus said, make the men sit down. and as there was much grass in the place, they sat down to the number of about five thousand.

Gave thanks

Jesus then having taken the five loaves and the two fishes, look'd up to heaven and gave thanks; then breaking the loaves, he gave them to his disciples to distribute among the people: for whom he likewise divided the two fishes.

then taking the seven loaves, and the fish, he gave thanks, and distributed them, by pieces, to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.

While they were yet eating, Jesus took bread, and having given thanks, he brake it, and gave it to the disciples, saying, take, eat; this represents my body.

he that observes a day, and he that obobserves it not, act both from a sense of duty. he that eats, consisiders it as the bounty of his Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that forbeareth to eat, considers his forbearance as enjoined by his Lord, and giveth God thanks for the rest.

if I am thankful for what I have, why should I chuse to be evil spoken of for that for which I give thanks?

let your discourse and your actions be all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the father by him.

interdicting marriage; and the use of animal food; which God created for the repast of the faithful, who embrace the truth with thankfulness.
