Matthew 10

¹ AND calling his twelve disciples, he gave them power over impure spirits to cast them out, and to cure every disease and every infirmity.

¹ Jesus ^(A)summoned His twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to ^(B)heal every kind of disease and every kind of sickness.

¹ And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.

¹ Summoning His 12 disciples,^(A) He gave them authority over unclean spirits, to drive them out and to heal every^(a) disease and sickness.^(B)

¹ Then Jesus called his twelve disciples to him and gave them authority over unclean spirits, so that they could drive them out and heal every disease and every illness.

³ Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the publican; James, the son of Alpheus, and Lebbeus, called Thaddeus;

³ Philip, and Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the publican; James the son of Alphaeus, and Lebbaeus, whose surname was Thaddaeus;

⁵ These twelve Jesus sent out and charged them, saying; Go not into a way of gentiles, and enter not into a city of Samaritans,

^{5 (M)}These twelve Jesus sent out after instructing them: “Do not ^(f)go ^(g)in the way of the Gentiles, and do not enter any city of the ^(N)Samaritans;

⁵ These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not:

⁵ Jesus sent out these 12 after giving them instructions: “Don’t take the road leading to other nations, and don’t enter any Samaritan^(E) town.

⁵ These were the Twelve whom Jesus sent out after he had given them these instructions: "Don't turn on to the road that leads to the unbelievers, and don't enter Samaritan towns.

⁷ and as you go, preach, saying, The kingdom of Heaven is at hand.

⁷ And as you go, ^(h)preach, saying, ‘^(P)The kingdom of heaven ⁽ⁱ⁾is at hand.’

⁷ And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.

⁷ As you go, announce this: ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near.’^(H)

⁷ As you go, make this announcement: "The kingdom from heaven is near!'

⁹ Take not gold, nor silver, nor copper for your purses,

^{9 (Q)}Do not acquire gold, or silver, or copper for your money belts,

⁹ Provide neither gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses,

⁹ Don’t take along gold, silver, or copper for your money-belts.^(J)

⁹ Don't take any gold, silver, or copper in your moneybags,

¹¹ and into whatever city or village you enter, inquire who in it is worthy, and there remain till you leave.

¹¹ And whatever city or village you enter, inquire who is worthy in it, and stay ^(m)at his house until you leave that city.

¹¹ And into whatsoever city or town ye shall enter, inquire who in it is worthy; and there abide till ye go thence.

¹¹ “When you enter any town or village, find out who is worthy, and stay there until you leave.

¹¹ "Whatever town or village you enter, find out who is receptive in it and stay there until you leave.

¹³ and if the house is worthy, your blessing shall come upon it; but if the house is not worthy, your blessing shall return to you.

¹³ If the house is worthy, ^(p)give it your blessing of peace. But if it is not worthy, ^(q)take back your blessing of peace.

¹³ And if the house be worthy, let your peace come upon it: but if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you.

¹³ and if the household is worthy, let your peace be on it. But if it is unworthy, let your peace return to you.^(M)

¹³ If the household is receptive, let your blessing of peace come on it. But if it isn't receptive, let your blessing of peace return to you.

¹⁵ I tell you truly, it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah in a day of judgment, than for that city.

¹⁵ Truly I say to you, ^(U)it will be more tolerable for the land of ^(V)Sodom and Gomorrah in ^(W)the day of judgment than for that city.

¹⁵ Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.

¹⁵ I assure you: It will be more tolerable on the day of judgment^(O) for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah than for that town.^(P)

¹⁵ I tell all of you with certainty, it will be more bearable for the region of Sodom and Gomorrah on the day of judgment than for that town!"

¹⁷ But beware of men; for they will deliver you to Sanhedrims, and scourge you in their synagogues,

¹⁷ But beware of men, for they will hand you over to the ^(AA)courts and scourge you ^(AB)in their synagogues;

¹⁷ But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to the councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues;

¹⁷ Because people will hand you over to sanhedrins^(f) and flog you in their synagogues,^(R) beware of them.

¹⁷ Watch out for people who will hand you over to the local councils and whip you in their synagogues.

¹⁹ But when they have delivered you up be not anxious how you shall speak, or what you shall say, for it shall be given you in that hour what to say;

^{19 (AC)}But when they hand you over, ^(AD)do not worry about how or what you are to say; for it will be given you in that hour what you are to say.

¹⁹ But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak.

¹⁹ But when they hand you over, don’t worry about how or what you should speak.^(T) For you will be given what to say at that hour,

¹⁹ When they hand you over, don't worry about how you are to speak or what you are to say, because in that hour what you are to say will be given to you.

²¹ And a brother shall deliver a brother to death, and a father a son; and children shall rise up against their parents and put them to death;

²¹ “^(AF)Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child; and ^(AG)children will rise up against parents and ^(s)cause them to be put to death.

²¹ And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death.

²¹ “Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child. Children will even rise up against their parents and have them put to death.^(W)

²¹ "Brother will hand brother over for execution, and a father his child. Children will rebel against parents and have them put to death.

²³ And when they persecute you in one city, flee to another. For I tell you truly, that you will not finish the cities of Israel till the Son of man shall come.

²³ “But whenever they ^(AJ)persecute you in ^(t)one city, flee to ^(u)the next; for truly I say to you, you will not finish going through the cities of Israel ^(AK)until the Son of Man comes.

²³ But when they persecute you in this city, flee ye into another: for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone over the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come.

²³ When they persecute you in one town, escape to another.^(Z) For I assure you: You will not have covered the towns of Israel before the Son of Man comes.

²³ So when they persecute you in one town, flee to the next, because I tell all of you with certainty that you will not have gone through the towns of Israel before the Son of Man comes.

²⁵ It is sufficient for the disciple to be as his teacher, and the servant as his master. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebul, how much more will they call the members of his family by that name.

²⁵ It is enough for the disciple that he become like his teacher, and the slave like his master. ^(AM)If they have called the head of the house ^(w)(AN)Beelzebul, how much more will they malign the members of his household!

²⁵ It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of his household?

²⁵ It is enough for a disciple to become like his teacher and a slave like his master. If they called the head of the house ‘Beelzebul,’ how much more the members of his household!^(AB)

²⁵ It is enough for a disciple to be like his teacher and a slave to be like his master. If they have called the head of the house Beelzebul, how much more will they do the same to those of his household!"

²⁷ What I tell you in darkness, speak in the light, and what you hear in the ear, preach on the house-tops.

^{27 (AQ)}What I tell you in the darkness, speak in the light; and what you hear whispered in your ear, proclaim ^(AR)upon the housetops.

²⁷ What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops.

²⁷ What I tell you in the dark, speak in the light. What you hear in a whisper,⁽ⁱ⁾ proclaim on the housetops.^(AE)

²⁷ What I tell you in darkness you must speak in the daylight, and what is whispered in your ear you must shout from the housetops.

²⁹ Are not two sparrows sold for an assarion [1.5 mills]? and one of them cannot fall to the ground without your Father.

^{29 (AU)}Are not two sparrows sold for a ^(y)cent? And yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father.

²⁹ Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father.

²⁹ Aren’t two sparrows sold for a penny?^(j) Yet not one of them falls to the ground without your Father’s^(AH) consent.^(k)

²⁹ "Two sparrows are sold for a penny, aren't they? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground without your Father's permission.

³¹ Fear not, therefore, you are of more value than many sparrows.

³¹ So do not fear; ^(AW)you are more valuable than many sparrows.

³¹ Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.

³¹ So don’t be afraid therefore; you are worth more than many sparrows.^(AJ)

³¹ So stop being afraid. You are worth more than a bunch of sparrows."

³³ and whoever denies me before men, him will I also deny before my Father in heaven.

³³ But ^(AY)whoever ^(ab)denies Me before men, I will also deny him before My Father who is in heaven.

³³ But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.

³³ But whoever denies Me before men,^(AL) I will also deny him before My Father in heaven.

³³ But whoever denies me before people I, too, will deny before my Father in heaven."

³⁵ I have come to set a man at variance against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a bride against her mother-in-law;

³⁵ For I came to ^(BA)set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law;

³⁵ For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.

³⁵ For I came to turna man against his father,a daughter against her mother,a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law;

³⁵ I came to turn "a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.

³⁷ He that loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; and he that loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me;

³⁷ “^(BC)He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me; and he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.

³⁷ He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

³⁷ The person who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me;^(AO) the person who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.

³⁷ "The one who loves his father or mother more than me isn't worthy of me, and the one who loves a son or daughter more than me isn't worthy of me.

³⁹ He that finds his life shall lose it, and he that loses his life for my sake shall find it.

^{39 (BE)}He who has found his ^(ad)life will lose it, and he who has lost his ^(ae)life for My sake will find it.

³⁹ He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.

³⁹ Anyone finding⁽ⁿ⁾ his life will lose it,^(AP) and anyone losing^(o) his life because of Me will find it.^(AQ)

³⁹ The one who finds his life will lose it, and the one who loses his life because of me will find it."

⁴¹ He that receives a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward, and he that receives a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward.

^{41 (BH)}He who receives a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward; and he who receives a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man’s reward.

⁴¹ He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward.

⁴¹ Anyone who^(p) welcomes a prophet^(AT) because he is a prophet^(q) will receive a prophet’s reward. And anyone who^(r) welcomes a righteous person because he’s righteous^(s) will receive a righteous person’s reward.

⁴¹ The one who receives a prophet as a prophet will receive a prophet's reward, and the one who receives a righteous person as a righteous person will receive a righteous person's reward.
