And when the chief priests and scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children crying in the temple, and saying, Hosanna to the Son of David; they were sore displeased,
When He entered the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came to Him while He was teaching, and said, “By what authority are You doing these things, and who gave You this authority?”
Then the chief priests and the elders of the people were gathered together in the court of the high priest, named Caiaphas;
Now when morning came, all the chief priests and the elders of the people conferred together against Jesus to put Him to death;
O Lord, Your hand is lifted up yet they do not see it. They see Your zeal for the people and are put to shame;
fire will devour Your enemies.
The chief priests and the scribes heard this, and
began seeking how to destroy Him; for they were afraid of Him, for the whole crowd was astonished at His teaching.
Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Him, “Teacher, rebuke Your disciples.”
On one of the days while He was teaching the people in the temple and preaching the gospel, the chief priests and the scribes with the elders confronted Him,

were seeking how they might put Him to death; for they were afraid of the people.
the chief priests and the Pharisees convened a council, and were saying, “What are we doing? For this man is performing many signs.
So the Pharisees said to one another, “You see that you are not doing any good; look, the world has gone after Him.”
The crowds going ahead of Him, and those who followed, were shouting,
“Hosanna to the
Son of David; Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord;
in the highest!”

Has not the Scripture said that the Christ comes from
the descendants of David, and from Bethlehem, the village where David was?”
the Lord knew that the Pharisees had heard that Jesus was making and baptizing more disciples than John
