AND Jesus having gone into the temple, the chief priests and elders of the people came to him as he was teaching, and said, By what authority do you do these things? and who gave you this authority?

Then the chief priests and the elders of the people were assembled in the court of the chief priest, who was called Caiaphas,

And the scribes and chief priests came and sought how they might destroy him, for they feared him, because all the people were astonished at his teaching.

Has not the Scripture said that the Christ comes from the offspring of David, and from Bethlehem, the village where David was?
