Saying, Prophesy unto us, thou Christ, Who is he that smote thee?

Those who passed by scoffed at him, nodding at him in derision

and some of them started to spit on him and to blindfold him and buffet him, asking him, "Prophesy." The attendants treated him to cuffs and slaps.

Meantime the men who had Jesus in custody flogged him and made fun of him;

they stripped him and threw a scarlet mantle round him,

and began to salute him with, "Hail, O king of the Jews!"

And the soldiers twisted some thorns into a crown and put it on his head, and arrayed him in a purple robe,

come to him then ??come to that living Stone which men have rejected and God holds choice and precious,
