Now the next day, that followed the day of the preparation, the chief priests and Pharisees came together unto Pilate,

Now on the first day of Unleavened Bread the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Where do You want us to prepare for You to eat the Passover?”

When evening had already come, because it was the preparation day, that is, the day before the Sabbath,

It was the preparation day, and the Sabbath was about to begin.

Now it was the day of preparation for the Passover; it was about the

sixth hour. And he *said to the Jews, “Behold, your King!”

Now when morning came, all the chief priests and the elders of the people conferred together against Jesus to put Him to death;

Why are the nations in an uproar
And the peoples devising a vain thing?

For truly in this city there were gathered together against Your holy

servant Jesus, whom You anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, along with the Gentiles and the peoples of Israel,

They have said, “Come, and let us wipe them out as a nation,
That the name of Israel be remembered no more.”

And when they had assembled with the elders and consulted together, they gave a large sum of money to the soldiers,
