But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.
but I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
And behold, two men were talking with Him; and they were Moses and Elijah,
He *said to them,
“Because of your hardness of heart Moses permitted you to divorce your wives; but from the beginning it has not been this way.
Yet you say, ‘For what reason?’ Because the Lord has been a witness between you and the
wife of your youth, against whom you have dealt treacherously, though she is your companion and your wife by covenant.
But Jesus said to them,
“ Because of your hardness of heart he wrote you this commandment.
“ Everyone who divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery, and he who marries one who is divorced from a husband commits adultery.
So then, if while her husband is living she is joined to another man, she shall be called an adulteress; but if her husband dies, she is free from the law, so that she is not an adulteress though she is joined to another man.
1 Corinthians 7:4
The wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does; and likewise also the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does.
