1 And it will come about in the (A)last daysThat the (B)mountain of the house of the LordWill be established (a)as the chief of the mountains. It will be raised above the hills,And the (C)peoples will stream to it.
1 But in the last days it shall come to pass, that the mountain of the house of the LORD shall be established in the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and people shall flow unto it.
1 "But in the last days it will come about that the Temple Mount of the LORD will be firmly set as the leading mountain. It will be exalted above its surrounding hills, and people will stream toward it.
1 But it shall come about in the last daysThat the mountain of the house of the LordShall be established as the highest and chief of the mountains; It shall be above the hills,And peoples shall flow [like a river] to it.
2 (D)Many nations will come and say,“(E)Come and let us go up to the mountain of the LordAnd to the house of the God of Jacob,That (F)He may teach us about His waysAnd that we may walk in His paths.”For (G)from Zion will go forth the law,Even the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.
2 And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for the law shall go forth of Zion, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.
2 and many nations will come and say,(D)“Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord,(E)to the house of the God of Jacob. He will teach us about His ways(F)so we may walk in His paths.”For instruction will go out of Zion(G)and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.
2 Many nations will approach and say, "Come, let's go up to the mountain of the LORD, and to the Temple of the God of Jacob. He will teach us about his ways, and we will walk according to his directions.' "Indeed, the Law will proceed from Zion, and the message of the LORD from Jerusalem.
2 And many nations shall come and say,“Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord,To the house of the God of Jacob,That He may teach us about His waysAnd that we may walk in His paths.”For the law shall go forward from Zion,And the word of the Lord [the revelation about Him and His truth] from Jerusalem.
3 And He will (H)judge between many peoplesAnd render decisions for mighty, (b)distant nations. Then they will hammer their swords (I)into plowsharesAnd their spears into pruning hooks;Nation will not lift up sword against nation,And never again will they (c)train for war.
3 And he shall judge among many people, and rebuke strong nations afar off; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up a sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.
3 He will settle disputes among many peoples(H)and provide arbitration for strong nationsthat are far away. They will beat their swords into plows, and their spears into pruning knives.Nation will not take up the sword against nation, and they will never again train for war.
3 And he will judge among many people, rebuking strong nations far away; and they will reshape their swords as plowshares and their spears as pruning hooks. No nation will threaten another, nor will they train for war anymore.
3 And He will judge between many peoplesAnd render decisions for strong and distant nations. Then they shall hammer their swords into plowsharesAnd their spears into pruning hooks [so that the implements of war may become the tools of agriculture];Nation shall not lift up sword against nation,Nor shall they ever again train for war.(A)
4 But they shall sit every man under his vine and under his fig tree; and none shall make them afraid: for the mouth of the LORD of hosts hath spoken it.
4 Instead, each man will sit in the shade of his grape vines and beneath the shade of his fig tree," since theLORD of the Heavenly Armies has spoken.
5 For all people will walk every one in the name of his god, and we will walk in the name of the LORD our God for ever and ever.
5 "Because all of the people will walk, each person in the name of his God, and we will walk in the name of the LORD our God forever and ever.
5 For all the peoples [now] walkEach in the name of his god [in a transient relationship],As for us, we shall walk [securely]In the name of the Lord our [true] God forever and ever.
6 In that day, saith the LORD, will I assemble her that halteth, and I will gather her that is driven out, and her that I have afflicted;
6 "At that time," declares the LORD, "I will assemble the lame; and I will gather those whom I have scattered, along with those whom I have afflicted.
6 “In that day,” says the Lord,“I shall assemble the lame,And gather the outcasts [from foreign captivity],Even those whom I have caused pain.
7 And I will make her that halted a remnant, and her that was cast far off a strong nation: and the LORD shall reign over them in mount Zion from henceforth, even for ever.
7 I will transform the lame into survivors, and those who were scattered into a strong nation; and the LORD will reign over them in Mount Zion, now and forever."
7 “I shall make the lame a [godly] remnantAnd the outcasts a strong nation; And the Lord shall reign over them in Mount ZionFrom this time on and forever.
8 And thou, O tower of the flock, the strong hold of the daughter of Zion, unto thee shall it come, even the first dominion; the kingdom shall come to the daughter of Jerusalem.
8 "And you, watchtower of the flock, you stronghold of the daughter of Zion, it will happen even to you: The former dominion, even the kingdom of the daughter of Jerusalem, will come.
9 Now why dost thou cry out aloud? is there no king in thee? is thy counseller perished? for pangs have taken thee as a woman in travail.
9 Why are you crying so loud now? There's no king among you, is there? Perhaps your advisor has died? For pain has overtaken you like a woman in labor.
9 “Now, why do you cry out loudly? Is there no king among you?Has your counselor perished? For agony has gripped you like a woman in childbirth.
10 “(X)Writhe and labor to give birth,Daughter of Zion,Like a woman in childbirth; For now you will (Y)go out of the city,Dwell in the field,And go to Babylon.(Z)There you will be rescued;(AA)There the Lord will redeem youFrom the hand of your enemies.
10 Be in pain, and labour to bring forth, O daughter of Zion, like a woman in travail: for now shalt thou go forth out of the city, and thou shalt dwell in the field, and thou shalt go even to Babylon; there shalt thou be delivered; there the LORD shall redeem thee from the hand of thine enemies.
10 Writhe and cry out,(b)(V) Daughter Zion, like a woman in labor, for now you will leave the city(W)and camp in the open fields. You will go to Babylon;there you will be rescued;(X)there the Lord will redeem you(Y)from the power of your enemies!
10 Be in pain! Be in labor, you daughter of Zion, like a woman about to give birth, because now you will depart from the city, living in the open fields. To Babylon you will go. There you will be delivered, there the LORD will rescue you from the power of your enemies."
10 “Writhe in pain and labor to give birth,O Daughter of Zion,Like a woman in childbirth; For now you shall go out of the city,Live in the field,And go to Babylon. There you will be rescued; There the Lord shall redeem youFrom the hand of your enemies.
11 Now also many nations are gathered against thee, that say, Let her be defiled, and let our eye look upon Zion.
11 "Now many nations have gathered against you, saying, "Let her be defiled,' and "Let's look down on Zion.'
11 “Now many [conquering] nations are assembled against you,Who say, ‘Let her be profaned [through Gentile presence and the temple’s destruction],And let our eyes gaze on and gloat over Zion.’
12 But they know not the thoughts of the LORD, neither understand they his counsel: for he shall gather them as the sheaves into the floor.
12 But they don't know the thoughts of the LORD, and they don't understand his tactics, for he will gather them like harvested grain to his threshing floor.
12 “But they (Gentile nations) do not know the thoughts of the Lord,Nor do they understand His purpose and plan; For He has gathered them (Gentiles) like sheaves to the threshing floor [for destruction].
13 “Arise and (AD)thresh, daughter of Zion,For your horn I will make ironAnd your hoofs I will make bronze,That you may (AE)pulverize many peoples,That you may (AF)devote to the Lord their unjust gainAnd their wealth to the Lord of all the earth.
13 Arise and thresh, O daughter of Zion: for I will make thine horn iron, and I will make thy hoofs brass: and thou shalt beat in pieces many people: and I will consecrate their gain unto the LORD, and their substance unto the Lord of the whole earth.
13 Rise and thresh,(AB) Daughter Zion, for I will make your horns ironand your hooves bronze,so you can crush many peoples.(AC)Then you(c) will set apart their plunder(AD)to the Lord for destruction, their wealth to the Lord of all the earth.
13 Get up and smash them to pieces, daughter of Zion, because I will make your horn like iron and your hooves like bronze! And you will beat many people to pieces, and I will consecrate their dishonest gain to the LORD and their assets to the Lord of the entire earth."
