Not even with a chain could any man bind him, for he had been bound with fetters and chains again and again, and had snapped the chains, and broken the fetters; and there was no one strong enough to master him. And out came the foul spirits and entered the swine; and the drove rushed down from the steep into the sea, in number about two thousand, and were choked in the sea. On this the swineherds ran away and spread the news in town and country. So the people went to see what had happened. When they got to Jesus they found the demoniac sitting there clothed and in his right mind??he man who had had the "Legion"??nd they were awestruck. And those who had been eye-witnesses told them what had happened to the demoniac and to the swine. Then they began to beg Jesus to depart from their district. As he was getting into the boat the man who had been demon-possessed kept begging to go with him; but he said, "Go home to your own people, and tell them what great things God has done for you, and has had mercy upon you."
