Then the sons of Israel set out and came to their cities on the third day. Now the cities [of the Hivites] were Gibeon and Chephirah and Beeroth and Kiriath-jearim.
Then the border extended from the top of the mountain to the spring of the waters of Nephtoah and proceeded to the cities of Mount Ephron; then the border curved to Baalah (that is, Kiriath-jearim).
The border went around west from Baalah to Mount Seir, and passed along to the northern slope of Mount Jearim (that is, Chesalon), and went down to Beth-shemesh and then continued on through Timnah.

The son of Hur, the firstborn of Ephrathah, was Shobal, who fathered Kiriath-jearim, Salma, who fathered Bethlehem, and Hareph, who fathered Beth-gader.
And Shobal, the father of Kiriath-jearim had sons, - Haroeh, half of the Menuhoth.
And, the families of Kiriath-jearim, were the Ithrites, and the Puthites, and the Shumathites, and the Mishraites, - from these, came the Zorathites, and the Eshtaolites.
So David convoked all Israel, from Shihor of Egypt, even unto the entering in of Hamath, - to bring the ark of God from Kiriath-jearim.
And David went up and all Israel to Baalah, unto Kiriath-jearim, which pertaineth to Judah, - to bring up from thence, the ark of God - Yahweh who inhabiteth the cherubim, on which is called the Name.
But the ark of God had David brought up from Kirjath-jearim to the place that David had prepared for it; for he had spread a tent for it at Jerusalem.
