And the acts of Rehoboam, first and last, are they not written in the words of Shemaiah the prophet, and of Iddo the seer, in the genealogical registers? And there were wars between Rehoboam and Jeroboam continually.

Now there was another man who prophesied as the Lord's representative against this city and this land just as Jeremiah did. His name was Uriah son of Shemaiah from Kiriath Jearim.
The Lord told Jeremiah, "Tell Shemaiah the Nehelamite
Shemaiah the Nehelamite sent a letter in his name to Zephaniah, the son of Maaseiah the priest, saying,
now therefore [continued the letter from Shemaiah in Babylon to Zephaniah in Jerusalem], why have you not rebuked Jeremiah of Anathoth, who prophesies to you?
"Send a message to all the exiles in Babylon. Tell them, 'The Lord has spoken about Shemaiah the Nehelamite. "Shemaiah has spoken to you as a prophet even though I did not send him. He is making you trust in a lie.
Because he has done this," the Lord says, "I will punish Shemaiah the Nehelamite and his whole family. There will not be any of them left to experience the good things that I will do for my people. I, the Lord, affirm it! For he counseled rebellion against the Lord."'"
He went down to the chamber of the royal secretary in the king's palace and found all the court officials in session there. Elishama the royal secretary, Delaiah son of Shemaiah, Elnathan son of Achbor, Gemariah son of Shaphan, Zedekiah son of Hananiah, and all the other officials were seated there.

Now, therefore, why, hast thou not rebuked Jeremiah of Anathoth, who is prophesying unto you? For, on this account, hath he sent unto us in Babylon, saying, - 'Tis, long! Build ye houses and dwell in them, And plant gardens and eat the fruit thereof. And Zephaniah the priest hath read this letter in the ears of Jeremiah the prophet, Therefore hath the word of Yahweh come unto Jeremiah, saying: Send thou unto all them of the captivity, saying, Thus, saith Yahweh, Concerning Shemaiah the Nehelamite, - Because Shemaiah, hath prophesied to you, when, I, had not sent him, And hath caused you to trust in falsehood, Therefore Thus, saith Yahweh, - Behold me! bringing punishment upon Shemaiah the Nehelamite, and upon his seed, he shall have no man to dwell in the midst of rids people, Nor shall he see the good that I am about to do for my people, Declareth Yahweh; Because revolt, hath he spoken against Yahweh.
