And when we cried unto the LORD, he heard our voice, and sent an angel, and hath brought us forth out of Egypt: and, behold, we are in Kadesh, a city in the uttermost of thy border:
Now it came about in the course of those many days that the king of Egypt died. And the sons of Israel
sighed because of the bondage, and they cried out; and their cry for help because of their bondage rose up to God.
The Lord said, “I have surely
seen the affliction of My people who are in Egypt, and have given heed to their cry because of their taskmasters, for I am aware of their sufferings.
Furthermore I have
heard the groaning of the sons of Israel, because the Egyptians are holding them in bondage, and I have remembered My covenant.
As Pharaoh drew near, the sons of Israel
looked, and behold, the Egyptians were marching after them, and they became very frightened; so the sons of Israel cried out to the Lord.
The angel of the Lord appeared to him in a blazing fire from the midst of a bush; and he looked, and behold, the bush was burning with fire, yet the bush was not consumed.
The angel of God, who had been going before the camp of Israel, moved and went behind them; and the pillar of cloud moved from before them and stood behind them.
“Behold, I am going to send
an angel before you to guard you along the way and to bring you into the place which I have prepared.
I will send
an angel before you and I will drive out the Canaanite, the Amorite, the Hittite, the Perizzite, the Hivite and the Jebusite.
Then Israel sent messengers to Sihon, king of the Amorites, saying,
