Behold, these caused the children of Israel, through the counsel of Balaam, to commit trespass against the LORD in the matter of Peor, and there was a plague among the congregation of the LORD.
And now, behold,
I am going to my people; come, and I will advise you what this people will do to your people in the days to come.”
While Israel remained at
Shittim, the people began to play the harlot with the daughters of Moab.
For a harlot is a deep pit
adulterous woman is a narrow well.
And I discovered more
bitter than death the woman whose heart is snares and nets, whose hands are chains. One who is pleasing to God will escape from her, but the sinner will be captured by her.
