Correction is severe for the person who forsakes the way. He who hates reproof will die.

You say: How I have hated instruction! My heart despised reproof.

Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge. He that hates reproof is stupid.

Ahab saw Elijah. He said: Is it you, Israel's troublemaker?

Ahab said to Elijah: Have you come face to face with me, O my enemy? Elijah said: I have come to you because you have given yourself up to do evil in the eyes of Jehovah.

Ahab answered: There is one more, Micaiah son of Imlah. But I hate him because he never prophesies anything good for me, always something bad. The king should not say such things! Jehoshaphat replied.

You rejected my advice and paid no attention when I warned you.

He who regards instruction is in the way of life. He who refuses reproof goes (mentally and morally) astray.

A wise son heeds his father's instruction (discipline). A scoffer does not listen to discipline (reproof).

They struck me but I did not become sick. They beat me and I did not feel it. When will I awake? I will seek drink yet again.

Why do you still want to be beaten? Why do you continue to rebel? Your whole head is infected. Your whole heart is sick.

In your filthiness is lewdness. Because I would have cleansed you, yet you are not clean. You will not be cleansed from your filthiness again until I have spent my anger on you.

Every one who does evil hates the light. He does not come to the light because his works would be reproved.

The world has no reason to hate you. But it hates me because I testify that its works are evil.
