¹ Many a time, have they harassed me from my youth, well may Israel say:

¹ {A Song of degrees.} Many a time have they afflicted me from my youth, may Israel now say:

¹ A Song of Ascents.“^(a)Many times they have ^(b)(A)persecuted me from my ^(B)youth up,”^(C)Let Israel now say,

¹ A song of ascents.Since my youth they have often attacked me—let Israel say—

¹ "Since my youth they have often persecuted me," let Israel repeat it,

³ Yahweh, is righteous, He hath cut asunder the cords of the lawless.

³ The plowers plowed upon my back: they made long their furrows.

³ “The plowers plowed upon my back;They lengthened their furrows.”

³ Plowmen plowed over my back;they made their furrows long.^(B)

³ Wicked people ploughed over my back, creating long-lasting wounds."

⁵ Let them become like the grass of housetops, which, before it is pulled up, hath withered;

⁵ Let them all be confounded and turned back that hate Zion.

⁵ May all who ^(G)hate ZionBe ^(H)put to shame and turned backward;

⁵ Let all who hate Zionbe driven back in disgrace.^(D)

⁵ Let all who hate Zion be turned away and be ashamed.

⁷ Neither have the passers-by ever said, The blessing of Yahweh, be unto you, - We have blessed you in the Name of Yahweh.

⁷ Wherewith the mower filleth not his hand; nor he that bindeth sheaves his bosom.

⁷ With which the reaper does not fill his ^(f)hand,Or the binder of sheaves his ^(J)bosom;

⁷ and can’t even fill the hands of the reaperor the arms of the one who binds sheaves.^(F)
