1 O Yahweh, I have cried unto thee, Make thou haste to me, Give ear unto my voice, when I cry to thee.
1 A Psalm of David.O Lord, I call upon You; (A)hasten to me!(B)Give ear to my voice when I call to You!
1 {A Psalm of David.} LORD, I cry unto thee: make haste unto me; give ear unto my voice, when I cry unto thee.
1 LORD, I call to you, be quick to listen to me when I cry out!
2 Set thou, O Yahweh, a watch at my mouth, Keep thou guard over the door of my lips.
2 May my prayer be (a)counted as (C)incense before You;The (D)lifting up of my hands as the (E)evening offering.
2 Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
2 Let my prayer be like incense offered before you, and my uplifted hands like the evening sacrifice.
3 Let not my heart incline to a matter of wrong, that I should busy myself with practices in lawlessness, with men working iniquity, and let me not eat of their dainties.
3 Set a watch, O LORD, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips.
3 LORD, set a guard over my mouth; keep watch over the door to my lips.
4 Let a righteous man smite me - a lovingkindness, that he should correct me, an oil for the head which let not my head refuse! For, yet, even my prayer, shall be in their calamities.
4 (H)Do not incline my heart to any evil thing,To practice deeds (c)of wickednessWith men who (I)do iniquity; And (J)do not let me eat of their delicacies.
4 Incline not my heart to any evil thing, to practise wicked works with men that work iniquity: and let me not eat of their dainties.
4 Do not let my heart turn to any evil thingor perform wicked actswith men who commit sin.Do not let me feast on their delicacies.(E)
4 Don't let my heart turn toward evil or involve itself in wicked activities with men who practice iniquity. Let me not feast on their delicacies.
5 Their judges, have been hurled down by a crag, Now have men heard my sayings, for they have become sweet.
5 Let the (K)righteous smite me (d)in kindness and reprove me;It is (L)oil upon the head;Do not let my head refuse it,(e)For still my prayer (M)is (f)against their wicked deeds.
5 Let the righteous smite me; it shall be a kindness: and let him reprove me; it shall be an excellent oil, which shall not break my head: for yet my prayer also shall be in their calamities.
5 Let the righteous one strike me—it is an act of faithful love;let him rebuke me—it is oil for my head;let me(a) not refuse it.(F)Even now my prayer is againstthe evil acts of the wicked.(b)(G)
5 Let one who is righteous strike me; It is an act of gracious love. Let him rebuke me, because it is oil for my head; do not let my head refuse it. My prayers continuously will be against their wicked activities.
6 As when one plougheth and furroweth the earth, Scattered about, are our bones at the mouth of hades!
6 Their judges are (N)thrown down by the sides of the rock,And they hear my words, for they are pleasant.
6 When their judges are overthrown in stony places, they shall hear my words; for they are sweet.
6 When their rulers(c) will be thrown offthe sides of a cliff, the people(d) will listen to my words, for they are pleasing.(H)
6 When their judges are thrown off the cliff, the people will hear my words, for they are appropriate.
7 Surely, unto thee, O Yahweh, My Lord, are mine eyes, In thee, have I sought refuge, Do not pour out my life.
7 As when one (O)plows and breaks open the earth,Our (P)bones have been scattered at the (Q)mouth of (g)Sheol.
7 Our bones are scattered at the grave's mouth, as when one cutteth and cleaveth wood upon the earth.
7 As when one plows and breaks up the soil, turning up rocks,so our(e) bones have been scatteredat the mouth of Sheol.(I)
7 Just as one plows and breaks up the earth, our bones are scattered near the entrance to the place of the dead.
8 Keep me out of the clutches of the trap they have set for me, and the snares of the workers of iniquity.
8 For my (R)eyes are toward You, O (h)God, the Lord;In You I (S)take refuge; (T)do not (i)leave me defenseless.
8 But mine eyes are unto thee, O GOD the Lord: in thee is my trust; leave not my soul destitute.
8 Nevertheless, my eyes are on you, Lord GOD, as I seek protection in you. Don't leave me defenseless!
9 They who are lawless, shall fall into the nooses thereof, while, I, at the same time, pass on.
9 Keep me from the (j)(U)jaws of the trap which they have set for me,And from the (V)snares of those who do iniquity.
9 Keep me from the snares which they have laid for me, and the gins of the workers of iniquity.
9 Protect me from the trap laid for me and from the snares of those who practice evil.
