1 ([Psalm of David]) The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky displays what his hands have made.

1 For the choir director. A Psalm of David.The (A)heavens are telling of the glory of God;And their (B)expanse is declaring the work of His hands.

1 {To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.} The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.

1 The heavens are declaring the glory of God, and their expanse shows the work of his hands.

2 Day to day declares speech. Night to night shows knowledge.

2 Day to (C)day pours forth speech,And (D)night to night reveals knowledge.

2 Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge.

2 Day after day they pour out speech;night after night they communicate knowledge.(b)

2 Day after day they pour forth speech, night after night they reveal knowledge.

3 It is done without talking, without words, without their voices being heard.

3 There is no speech, nor are there words;Their voice is not heard.

3 There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard.

4 Yet, their measuring line (rule) has gone out into the entire world, their message to the ends of the earth. He has set up a tent in the heavens for the sun.

4 Their (a)(E)line has gone out through all the earth,And their utterances to the end of the world.In them He has (F)placed a tent for the sun,

4 Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun,

4 Their message(c) has gone out to all the earth,and their words to the ends of the world.(B)In the heavens(d) He has pitched a tent for the sun.(C)

4 yet their message goes out into all the world, and their words to the ends of the earth. He has set up a tent for the sun in the heavens,

5 It comes out of its chamber like a bridegroom. Like a champion, it is eager to run its course.

5 Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber;It rejoices as a strong man to run his course.

5 Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoiceth as a strong man to run a race.

5 It is like a groom coming from the(e) bridal chamber;it rejoices like an athlete running a course.

5 which is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, or like a champion who rejoices at the beginning of a race.

6 It rises from one end of the heavens. It circles around to the other. Nothing is hidden from its heat.

6 Its (G)rising is from (b)one end of the heavens,And its circuit to the (c)other end of them;And there is nothing hidden from its heat.

6 His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof.

6 It rises from one end of the heavensand circles(f) to their other end;(D)nothing is hidden from its heat.

6 Its circuit is from one end of the sky to the other, and nothing is hidden from its heat.

7 The law of Jehovah is perfect. It gives new life. The testimony of Jehovah is dependable. It makes the simple wise.

7 (H)The law of the Lord is (d)(I)perfect, (J)restoring the soul;The testimony of the Lord is (K)sure, making (L)wise the simple.

7 The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.

7 The instruction of the Lord is perfect,renewing one’s life;(E)the testimony of the Lord is trustworthy,making the inexperienced wise.(F)

7 The Law of the LORD is perfect, restoring life. The testimony of the LORD is steadfast, making foolish people wise.

8 The statutes of Jehovah are correct. They make the heart rejoice. The commandments of Jehovah are radiant. They make the eyes shine.

8 The precepts of the Lord are (M)right, (N)rejoicing the heart;The commandment of the Lord is (O)pure, (P)enlightening the eyes.

8 The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.

8 The precepts of the Lord are right,making the heart glad;(G)the command of the Lord is radiant,making the eyes light up.(H)

8 The precepts of the LORD are upright, making the heart rejoice. The commandment of the LORD is pure, giving light to the eyes.

9 The reverence of Jehovah is pure. It endures forever. The decisions of Jehovah are true. They are completely fair.

9 The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever;The judgments of the Lord are (Q)true; they are (R)righteous altogether.

9 The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.

9 The fear of the Lord is pure,enduring forever;(I)the ordinances of the Lord are reliableand altogether righteous.(J)

9 The fear of the LORD is clean, standing forever. The judgments of the LORD are true; they are altogether righteous.

10 They are more desirable than gold, even the finest gold. They are sweeter than honey, even the drippings from a honeycomb.

10 They are more desirable than (S)gold, yes, than much fine gold;(T)Sweeter also than honey and the drippings of the honeycomb.

10 More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.

10 They are more desirable than gold—than an abundance of pure gold;(K)and sweeter than honey,which comes from the honeycomb.(L)

10 They are more desirable than gold, even much fine gold. They are sweeter than honey, even the drippings from a honeycomb.

11 They warn your servant. There is a great reward in following them.

11 Moreover, by them (U)Your servant is warned;In keeping them there is great (V)reward.

11 Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.

12 Who can notice (discern) (understand) every mistake? Forgive my hidden faults.

12 Who can (W)discern his errors? (X)Acquit me of (Y)hidden faults.

12 Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults.

12 Who perceives his unintentional sins?Cleanse me from my hidden faults.(N)

12 Who can detect his own mistake? Cleanse me from hidden sin.

13 Keep me from sinning. Do not let anyone gain control over me. Then I will be blameless, and I will be free from any great offense.

13 Also keep back Your servant (Z)from presumptuous sins;Let them not (AA)rule over me;Then I will be (e)(AB)blameless,And I shall be acquitted of (AC)great transgression.

13 Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression.

13 Moreover, keep Your servant from willful sins;(O)do not let them rule over me.(P)Then I will be innocentand cleansed from blatant rebellion.(Q)

13 Preserve your servant from arrogant people; do not let them rule over me. Then I will be upright and acquitted of great wickedness.

14 May the words from my mouth and the thoughts from my heart be acceptable to you, O Jehovah, my rock and my Redeemer (Purchaser).

14 Let the words of my mouth and (AD)the meditation of my heartBe acceptable in Your sight,O Lord, (AE)my rock and my (AF)Redeemer.

14 Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.

14 May the words of my mouthand the meditation of my heartbe acceptable to You,(R)Lord, my rock and my Redeemer.(S)
