Zion Exalted

1 Great is Yahweh, and worthy to be mightily praised, In the city of our God, His holy mountain.

1 {A Song and Psalm for the sons of Korah.} Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the mountain of his holiness.

1 Great is the LORD! For he is to be praised greatly, even in the city of our God, his holy mountain.

2 God, in her palaces, is to be known as a high tower.

2 Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, is mount Zion, on the sides of the north, the city of the great King.

2 rising splendidly,is the joy of the whole earth.Mount Zion on the slopes of the northis the city of the great King.()

2 Beautifully situated, the joy of all the earth, Mount Zion towards the north, the city of the great King.

3 For lo! Kings - Met as appointed, Passed by together;

3 God is known in her palaces for a refuge.

3 God, in her palaces,Has made Himself known as a ()stronghold.

3 God is known as a strongholdin its citadels.()

3 Within her citadels God is known as a place of refuge.

4 They themselves, saw, So, were they amazed, Dismayed - they hurried way!

4 For, lo, the kings were assembled, they passed by together.

4 Look! The kings assembled;they advanced together.()

4 Behold, when the kings assembled together, when they traveled together,

5 Trembling, seized them, there, Pangs. like hers who is in travail.

5 They saw it, and so they marvelled; they were troubled, and hasted away.

5 They looked and froze with fear;they fled in terror.()

5 they looked and were awestruck; they became afraid and ran away.

6 With an east wind, wilt thou shatter the ships of Tarshish.

6 Fear took hold upon them there, and pain, as of a woman in travail.

6 ()Panic seized them there,Anguish, as of ()a woman in childbirth.

6 Trembling seized them there,agony like that of a woman in labor,()

6 Trembling seized them there, pains like those of a woman in labor,

7 Just as we have heard, So, have we see, In the city of Yahweh of hosts, In the city of our God, God himself, will establish her, unto times age-abiding. Selah.

7 Thou breakest the ships of Tarshish with an east wind.

7 as You wrecked the ships of Tarshishwith the east wind.()

7 as when an east wind destroyed the ships of Tarshish.

8 We have thought, O God, upon thy lovingkindness, In the midst of thy temple:

8 As we have heard, so have we seen in the city of the LORD of hosts, in the city of our God: God will establish it for ever. Selah.

9 According to thy Name, O God, So, be thy praise, unto the ends of the earth, With righteousness, is, thy right hand, filled.

9 We have thought of thy lovingkindness, O God, in the midst of thy temple.

9 God, within Your temple,we contemplate Your faithful love.()

10 Let Mount Zion rejoice, Let the daughters of Judah exult, Because of thy judgments.

10 According to thy name, O God, so is thy praise unto the ends of the earth: thy right hand is full of righteousness.

10 As is Your ()name, O God,So is Your ()praise to the ends of the earth;Your ()right hand is full of righteousness.

10 Your name, God, like Your praise,reaches to the ends of the earth;()Your right hand is filled with justice.()

10 God, according to your name, so is your praise to the ends of the earth. Your right hand is filled with righteousness.

11 Go round Zion, and compass her about, Reckon up her towers;

11 Let mount Zion rejoice, let the daughters of Judah be glad, because of thy judgments.

11 Let Mount ()Zion be glad,Let the ()daughters of Judah rejoiceBecause of Your judgments.

11 Mount Zion is glad.The towns() of Judah rejoicebecause of Your judgments.()

11 Mount Zion will be glad; the towns of Judah will rejoice because of your judgments.

12 Apply your mind to her rampart, Pass between her palaces, That ye may recount them to an after generation;

12 Walk about Zion, and go round about her: tell the towers thereof.

12 Walk about Zion and go around her;Count her ()towers;

12 Go around Zion, encircle it;count its towers,

12 March around Zion; encircle her; count her towers.

13 For, this God, is our God, to times age-abiding and beyond, He himself, will conduct us till death.

13 Mark ye well her bulwarks, consider her palaces; that ye may tell it to the generation following.

13 Consider her ()ramparts;Go through her palaces,That you may ()tell it to the next generation.

13 Take note of her ramparts; investigate her citadels; that you may speak about them to the next generation.
