They turned back, and tempted God, and moved the holy one in Israel.

For of all those men which have seen my glory and my miracles which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and yet have tempted me now this ten times and have not hearkened unto my voice,

And they said, one to another, "Let us make a captain and return unto Egypt again."

Ye shall not tempt the LORD your God as ye did at Massah.

Whom hast thou railed on, and whom hast thou reviled? Against whom hast thou exalted thy voice, and hast lift up thine eyes so high? Even against the holy one of Israel!

For they spake against God, and said, "Yea yea, God shall prepare a table in the wilderness, shall he?

The LORD is our defense, and the holy one of Israel is our king.

While he yet spake, there came from the ruler of the synagogue's house, certain which said, "Thy daughter is dead: why diseasest thou the Master any further?"

to whom our fathers would not obey: But cast it from them, and in their hearts turned back again into Egypt,

harden not your hearts, after the rebellion in the day of temptation in the wilderness,

For it had been better for them, not to have known the way of righteousness, then after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment given unto them.
