A Plea For Righteous Judgment

1 God, hath taken his place in the august assembly, In the midst of the gods, will he judge.

1 A Psalm of Asaph.God takes His (A)stand in (a)His own congregation;He (B)judges in the midst of the (b)(C)rulers.

1 {A Psalm of Asaph.} God standeth in the congregation of the mighty; he judgeth among the gods.

1 A psalm of Asaph.(A)God has taken His place in the divine assembly;He judges among the gods:(a)(B)

1 God takes his stand in the divine assembly; among the divine beings he renders judgment:

2 Vindicate the weak and the fatherless, The oppressed and the poor, see righted;

2 How long will you (D)judge unjustlyAnd (E)show partiality to the wicked? (c)Selah.

2 How long will ye judge unjustly, and accept the persons of the wicked? Selah.

2 “How long will you judge unjustlyand show partiality to the wicked?(C)Selah

2 "How long will you judge partially by showing favor on the wicked? Interlude

3 Deliver the weak sad the needy, Out of the hand of the lawless, make rescue.

3 (F)Vindicate the weak and fatherless;Do justice to the afflicted and destitute.

3 Defend the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and needy.

3 Provide justice for the needy and the fatherless;uphold the rights of the oppressed and the destitute.(D)

3 "Defend the poor and the fatherless. Vindicate the afflicted and the poor.

4 They know not, neither can they perceive, In darkness, they wander, All the foundations of the earth do shake.

4 (G)Rescue the weak and needy;Deliver them out of the hand of the wicked.

4 Deliver the poor and needy: rid them out of the hand of the wicked.

4 Rescue the poor and needy;save them from the power of the wicked.”(E)

4 Rescue the poor and the needy, delivering them from the power of the wicked.

5 I, said, Gods, ye are, Yea, sons of the Highest, are ye all;

5 They (H)do not know nor do they understand;They (I)walk about in darkness;All the (J)foundations of the earth are shaken.

5 They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course.

5 They do not know or understand;they wander in darkness.(F)All the foundations of the earth are shaken.(G)

5 They neither know nor understand; they walk about in the dark while all the foundations of the earth are shaken.

6 But indeed, like the earth-born, shall ye die! And, like one of the princes, shall ye fall!

6 (d)I (K)said, “You are gods,And all of you are (L)sons of the Most High.

6 I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.

6 I said, “You are gods;(H)you are all sons of the Most High.(I)

6 "Indeed I said, "You are gods, and all of you are sons of the Most High.

7 Arise! O God, judge thou the earth, For, thou, wilt inherit all the nations.

7 “Nevertheless (M)you will die like menAnd fall like any (N)one of the princes.”

7 But ye shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes.

7 However, you will die like menand fall like any other ruler.”(J)

7 However, as all human beings do, you will die, and like other rulers, you will fall.'
