“ Where has your beloved gone, O most beautiful among women? Where has your beloved turned, That we may seek him with you?”
“ If you yourself do not know, Most beautiful among women, Go forth on the trail of the flock And pasture your young goats By the tents of the shepherds.
“ What kind of beloved is your beloved, O most beautiful among women? What kind of beloved is your beloved, That thus you adjure us?”
But Ruth said, “Do not urge me to leave you or turn back from following you; for where you go, I will go, and where you lodge, I will lodge. Your people shall be my people, and your God, my God.
May the Lord reward your work, and your wages be full from the Lord, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come to seek refuge.”
“Draw me after you and let us run together! The
king has brought me into his chambers.” “ We will rejoice in you and be glad; We will extol your love more than wine. Rightly do they love you.”
“ Like a lily among the thorns, So is my darling among the maidens.”
“I opened to my beloved, But my beloved had turned away and had gone! My heart went out to him as he spoke. I searched for him but I did not find him; I called him but he did not answer me.
“ You are as beautiful as Tirzah, my darling, As lovely as Jerusalem, As awesome as an army with banners.
But my dove, my perfect one, is unique: She is her mother’s only daughter; She is the pure child of the one who bore her. The maidens saw her and called her blessed, The queens and the concubines also, and they praised her, saying,
Come, house of Jacob, and let us walk in the light of the Lord.
“O Hope of Israel, Its Savior in time of distress, Why are You like a stranger in the land Or like a traveler who has pitched his tent for the night?
The inhabitants of one will go to another, saying, “Let us go at once to entreat the favor of the Lord, and to seek the Lord of hosts; I will also go.”
And great fear came over the whole church, and over all who heard of these things.
