– בְּעֵינֶ֔יךָ

in your eyes –

､ וַיֹּ֛אמֶר

and he has said ､

אַל־

’al-

not

יֵֽדַע־

､ זֹ֥את

this ､

יְהוֹנָתָ֖ן

he be grieved –

וְאוּלָ֗ם

[as] lives ､

יְהוָה֙

and [as] lives ､

נַפְשֶׁ֔ךָ

כִּ֣י

כְפֶ֔שַׂע

[there is] a step

and I

יָשֹׁב־

not fail to

אֵשֵׁ֥ב

עִם־

‘im-

with

הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ

ham·me·leḵ

the king

– לֶאֱכ֑וֹל

le·’ĕ·ḵō·wl;

to eat –

､ וְשִׁלַּחְתַּ֙נִי֙

wə·šil·laḥ·ta·nî

but let me go ､

וְנִסְתַּרְתִּ֣י

wə·nis·tar·tî

that I may hide

בַשָּׂדֶ֔ה

ḇaś·śā·ḏeh,

in the field

עַ֖ד

הָעֶ֥רֶב

into a covenant

you have brought

עִמָּ֑ךְ

‘im·māḵ;

with you

וְאִם־

and nevertheless if

יֶשׁ־

הֲמִיתֵ֣נִי

– אַ֔תָּה

’at·tāh,

because of his love

and you will be missed ､

will be empty

. מוֹשָׁבֶֽךָ׃

､ וְשִׁלַּשְׁתָּ֙

And [when] you have stayed three days ､

תֵּרֵ֣ד

tê·rêḏ

､ מְאֹ֔ד

mə·’ōḏ,

וּבָאתָ֙

ū·ḇā·ṯā

and come

אֶל־

’el-

to

הַמָּק֔וֹם

ham·mā·qō·wm,

אֲשֶׁר־

נִסְתַּ֥רְתָּ

שָּׁ֖ם

בְּי֣וֹם

on the day

הַֽמַּעֲשֶׂ֑ה

of the deed

וְיָ֣שַׁבְתָּ֔

צִדָּ֣ה

to the side

אוֹרֶ֑ה

will shoot

לְשַֽׁלַּֽח־

. לְמַטָּרָֽה׃

､ וְהִנֵּה֙

And there ､

אֶשְׁלַ֣ח

I will send

’eṯ-

､ הַנַּ֔עַר

han·na·‘ar,

a boy ､

､ לֵ֖ךְ

[saying] go ､

מְצָ֣א

mə·ṣā

אֶת־

’eṯ-

הַחִצִּ֑ים

ha·ḥiṣ·ṣîm;

אִם־

if

אָמֹר֩

､ לַנַּ֜עַר

Look ､

הַחִצִּ֣ים ׀

the arrows [are]

מִמְּךָ֣

on this side of you

וָהֵ֗נָּה

and

קָחֶ֧נּוּ ׀

qā·ḥen·nū

וָבֹ֛אָה

wā·ḇō·’āh

and come

כִּֽי־

kî-

שָׁל֥וֹם

[there is] safety

לְךָ֛

lə·ḵā

וְאֵ֥ין

wə·’ên

and no

– דָּבָ֖ר

dā·ḇār

harm –

חַי־

ḥay-

. יְהוָֽה׃

Yah·weh.

וְאִם־

wə·’im-

But if

כֹּ֤ה

､ לָעֶ֔לֶם

to the young man ､

､ הִנֵּ֥ה

Look ､

הַחִצִּ֖ים

the arrows [are]

מִמְּךָ֣

mim·mə·ḵā

וָהָ֑לְאָה

wā·hā·lə·’āh;

and

､ לֵ֕ךְ

go your way ､

כִּ֥י

שִֽׁלַּחֲךָ֖

šil·la·ḥă·ḵā

has sent you away

Yah·weh.

And as for the matter

דִּבַּ֖רְנוּ

אֲנִ֣י

against Jonathan ､

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר

הַמַּרְדּ֑וּת

ham·mar·dūṯ;

rebellious [woman]

הֲל֣וֹא

יָדַ֗עְתִּי

כִּֽי־

בֹחֵ֤ר

ḇō·ḥêr

אַתָּה֙

’at·tāh

לְבֶן־

lə·ḇen-

the son

､ לְבָ֨שְׁתְּךָ֔

to your own shame ､

וּלְבֹ֖שֶׁת

and to the shame

עֶרְוַ֥ת

‘er·waṯ

؟ אִמֶּֽךָ׃

of your mother ؟

כִּ֣י

הַיָּמִ֗ים

as long as

אֲשֶׁ֤ר

בֶּן־

the son

יִשַׁי֙

חַ֣י

עַל־

‘al-

､ הָאֲדָמָ֔ה

hā·’ă·ḏā·māh,

the earth ､

לֹ֥א

shall be established ､

אַתָּ֣ה

’at·tāh

. וּמַלְכוּתֶ֑ךָ

nor your kingdom .

וְעַתָּ֗ה

wə·‘at·tāh,

שְׁלַ֨ח

וְקַ֤ח

wə·qaḥ

אֹתוֹ֙

to me

at the time appointed with

and a boy [was]

קָטֹ֖ן

. עִמּֽוֹ׃

with him .

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר

way·yō·mer

And he said

､ לְנַעֲר֔וֹ

to his boy ､

､ רֻ֗ץ

ruṣ,

run ､

מְצָ֥א

נָא֙

הַ֣חִצִּ֔ים

､ אַ֛רְצָה

’ar·ṣāh

to the ground ､

וַיִּשְׁתַּ֖חוּ

שָׁלֹ֣שׁ

. פְּעָמִ֑ים

pə·‘ā·mîm;

וַֽיִּשְּׁק֣וּ ׀

And they kissed

to David ､
