מַחֲנֵיהֶ֖ם
ma·ḥă·nê·hem
､ אֲפֵ֑קָה
’ă·p̄ê·qāh;
at Aphek ､
וְיִשְׂרָאֵ֣ל
wə·yiś·rā·’êl
and Israel
חֹנִ֔ים
ḥō·nîm,
בַּעַ֖יִן
ba·‘a·yin
אֲשֶׁ֥ר
’ă·šer
which [is]
. בְּיִזְרְעֶֽאל׃
bə·yiz·rə·‘el.
in Jezreel .

וְסַרְנֵ֤י
wə·sar·nê
And the lords
פְלִשְׁתִּים֙
p̄ə·liš·tîm
עֹֽבְרִ֔ים
‘ō·ḇə·rîm,
､ לְמֵא֖וֹת
lə·mê·’ō·wṯ
by hundreds ､
､ וְלַאֲלָפִ֑ים
wə·la·’ă·lā·p̄îm;
and by thousands ､
וְדָוִ֣ד
wə·ḏā·wiḏ
but David
וַאֲנָשָׁ֗יו
wa·’ă·nā·šāw,
and his men
עֹֽבְרִ֛ים
‘ō·ḇə·rîm
בָּאַחֲרֹנָ֖ה
bā·’a·ḥă·rō·nāh
at the rear
עִם־
‘im-
with
. אָכִֽישׁ׃
’ā·ḵîš.

וַיֹּֽאמְרוּ֙

And said
שָׂרֵ֣י

､ פְלִשְׁתִּ֔ים

of the Philistines ､
מָ֖ה
māh
הָעִבְרִ֣ים
hā·‘iḇ·rîm
הָאֵ֑לֶּה
hā·’êl·leh;
וַיֹּ֨אמֶר
way·yō·mer
and said
אָכִ֜ישׁ
’ā·ḵîš
אֶל־
’el-
to
שָׂרֵ֣י
śā·rê
､ פְלִשְׁתִּ֗ים
p̄ə·liš·tîm,
of the Philistines ､
הֲלֽוֹא־
hă·lō·w-
[Is] not

to him

פְלִשְׁתִּ֜ים

הָשֵׁ֣ב
hā·šêḇ
אֶת־
’eṯ-

؟ הָאִ֗ישׁ
hā·’îš,
וְיָשֹׁב֙
wə·yā·šōḇ
that he may go back
אֶל־
’el-
to
מְקוֹמוֹ֙
mə·qō·w·mōw
the place
אֲשֶׁ֣ר
’ă·šer
הִפְקַדְתּ֣וֹ
hip̄·qaḏ·tōw
שָׁ֔ם
šām,
וְלֹֽא־
wə·lō-
and not
יֵרֵ֤ד

do let him go down
עִמָּ֙נוּ֙
‘im·mā·nū
with us
､ בַּמִּלְחָמָ֔ה
bam·mil·ḥā·māh,
to battle ､
וְלֹא־
wə·lō-
and lest
יִֽהְיֶה־
yih·yeh-
לָּ֥נוּ
lā·nū
לְשָׂטָ֖ן
lə·śā·ṭān
בַּמִּלְחָמָ֑ה
bam·mil·ḥā·māh;
in the battle
וּבַמֶּ֗ה
ū·ḇam·meh,
for with what
יִתְרַצֶּ֥ה
yiṯ·raṣ·ṣeh
זֶה֙
zeh
אֶל־
’el-
to
؟ אֲדֹנָ֔יו
’ă·ḏō·nāw,
הֲל֕וֹא

if not
בְּרָאשֵׁ֖י

with the heads of

in my sight –

and your coming in

with me

in the army

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

הָיִ֣יתִי

לְפָנֶ֔יךָ

with you
עַ֖ד

I may go

of my lord
؟ הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר

and said
אֶל־

､ דָּוִד֒

David ､
יָדַ֕עְתִּי

כִּ֣י

ט֥וֹב
ṭō·wḇ
as good
אַתָּ֛ה
’at·tāh
､ בְּעֵינַ֖י
bə·‘ê·nay
in my sight ､
כְּמַלְאַ֣ךְ
kə·mal·’aḵ
as an angel
– אֱלֹהִ֑ים
’ĕ·lō·hîm;
of God –
אַ֣ךְ
’aḵ
שָׂרֵ֤י
śā·rê
פְלִשְׁתִּים֙
p̄ə·liš·tîm
､ אָֽמְר֔וּ
’ā·mə·rū,
לֹֽא־
lō-
not
יַעֲלֶ֥ה
ya·‘ă·leh
He shall go up
עִמָּ֖נוּ
‘im·mā·nū
with us
. בַּמִּלְחָמָֽה׃
bam·mil·ḥā·māh.
to the battle .

וְעַתָּה֙
wə·‘at·tāh
הַשְׁכֵּ֣ם
haš·kêm
בַּבֹּ֔קֶר
bab·bō·qer,
in the morning
וְעַבְדֵ֥י
wə·‘aḇ·ḏê
and with servants
אֲדֹנֶ֖יךָ
’ă·ḏō·ne·ḵā
אֲשֶׁר־
’ă·šer-
בָּ֣אוּ
bā·’ū
אִתָּ֑ךְ
’it·tāḵ;
with you
וְהִשְׁכַּמְתֶּ֣ם
wə·hiš·kam·tem
and as soon as you are up early
､ בַּבֹּ֔קֶר
bab·bō·qer,
in the morning ､
וְא֥וֹר
wə·’ō·wr
לָכֶ֖ם
lā·ḵem
to
. וָלֵֽכוּ׃
wā·lê·ḵū.
and depart .

וַיַּשְׁכֵּ֨ם

דָּוִ֜ד

וַֽאֲנָשָׁיו֙

and his men
לָלֶ֣כֶת

in the morning ､
לָשׁ֖וּב

אֶל־
’el-
to
אֶ֣רֶץ
’e·reṣ
the land
. פְּלִשְׁתִּ֑ים

of the Philistines .
וּפְלִשְׁתִּ֖ים

And the Philistines
עָל֥וּ
‘ā·lū
went up
. יִזְרְעֶֽאל׃
yiz·rə·‘el.
to Jezreel .
