וָאֶתְּנָ֣ה

And I set

אֶת־

’eṯ-

פָּנַ֗י

pā·nay,

אֶל־

’el-

אֲדֹנָי֙

’ă·ḏō·nāy

the Lord

､ הָֽאֱלֹהִ֔ים

hā·’ĕ·lō·hîm,

God ､

לְבַקֵּ֥שׁ

lə·ḇaq·qêš

to make request

תְּפִלָּ֖ה

tə·p̄il·lāh

､ וְתַחֲנוּנִ֑ים

wə·ṯa·ḥă·nū·nîm;

and supplications ､

､ בְּצ֖וֹם

bə·ṣō·wm

with fasting ､

､ וְשַׂ֥ק

wə·śaq

and sackcloth ､

. וָאֵֽפֶר׃

wā·’ê·p̄er.

and ashes .

וָֽאֶתְפַּֽלְלָ֛ה

wā·’eṯ·pal·lāh

And I prayed

לַיהוָ֥ה

Yah·weh

､ אֱלֹהַ֖י

’ĕ·lō·hay

my God ､

､ וָאֶתְוַדֶּ֑ה

wā·’eṯ·wad·deh;

and made confession ､

､ וָאֹֽמְרָ֗ה

wā·’ō·mə·rāh,

and said ､

אָנָּ֤א

’ān·nā

O

､ אֲדֹנָי֙

’ă·ḏō·nāy

Lord ､

､ הָאֵ֤ל

hā·’êl

God ､

הַגָּדוֹל֙

hag·gā·ḏō·wl

וְהַנּוֹרָ֔א

wə·han·nō·w·rā,

שֹׁמֵ֤ר

šō·mêr

הַבְּרִית֙

hab·bə·rîṯ

וְֽהַחֶ֔סֶד

wə·ha·ḥe·seḏ,

לְאֹהֲבָ֖יו

lə·’ō·hă·ḇāw

with those who love Him

וּלְשֹׁמְרֵ֥י

ū·lə·šō·mə·rê

and with those who keep

– מִצְוֺתָֽיו׃

miṣ·wō·ṯāw.

His commandments –

､ חָטָ֥אנוּ

ḥā·ṭā·nū

we have sinned ､

､ וְעָוִ֖ינוּ

wə·‘ā·wî·nū

and committed iniquity ､

[והרשענו]

wə·hir·ša‘·nū

-

､ (הִרְשַׁ֣עְנוּ)

hir·ša‘·nū

we have done wickedly ､

､ וּמָרָ֑דְנוּ

ū·mā·rā·ḏə·nū;

and rebelled ､

וְס֥וֹר

wə·sō·wr

and even by departing

מִמִּצְוֺתֶ֖ךָ

mim·miṣ·wō·ṯe·ḵā

from Your precepts

. וּמִמִּשְׁפָּטֶֽיךָ׃

ū·mim·miš·pā·ṭe·ḵā.

and Your judgments .

וְלֹ֤א

wə·lō

שָׁמַ֙עְנוּ֙

šā·ma‘·nū

אֶל־

’el-

עֲבָדֶ֣יךָ

‘ă·ḇā·ḏe·ḵā

､ הַנְּבִיאִ֔ים

han·nə·ḇî·’îm,

the prophets ､

אֲשֶׁ֤ר

’ă·šer

דִּבְּרוּ֙

dib·bə·rū

בְּשִׁמְךָ֔

bə·šim·ḵā,

אֶל־

’el-

to

､ מְלָכֵ֥ינוּ

mə·lā·ḵê·nū

､ שָׂרֵ֖ינוּ

śā·rê·nū

and our princes ､

､ וַאֲבֹתֵ֑ינוּ

wa·’ă·ḇō·ṯê·nū;

and to our fathers ､

וְאֶ֖ל

wə·’el

and

כָּל־

kāl-

עַ֥ם

‘am

. הָאָֽרֶץ׃

hā·’ā·reṣ.

of the land .

לְךָ֤

lə·ḵā

To You

､ אֲדֹנָי֙

’ă·ḏō·nāy

Lord ､

הַצְּדָקָ֔ה

haṣ·ṣə·ḏā·qāh,

righteousness [belongs]

וְלָ֛נוּ

wə·lā·nū

but to us

בֹּ֥שֶׁת

bō·šeṯ

､ הַפָּנִ֖ים

hap·pā·nîm

of face ､

– כַּיּ֣וֹם

kay·yō·wm

as [it is] day –

הַזֶּ֑ה

haz·zeh;

לְאִ֤ישׁ

lə·’îš

to the men

､ יְהוּדָה֙

yə·hū·ḏāh

of Judah ､

וּלְיוֹשְׁבֵ֣י

ū·lə·yō·wō·šə·ḇê

and to the inhabitants

､ יְרֽוּשָׁלִַ֔ם

yə·rū·šā·lim,

of Jerusalem ､

וּֽלְכָל־

ū·lə·ḵāl-

and all

､ יִשְׂרָאֵ֞ל

yiś·rā·’êl

､ הַקְּרֹבִ֣ים

haq·qə·rō·ḇîm

､ וְהָרְחֹקִ֗ים

wə·hā·rə·ḥō·qîm,

and those far off ､

בְּכָל־

bə·ḵāl

in all

הָֽאֲרָצוֹת֙

hā·’ă·rā·ṣō·wṯ

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

’ă·šer

הִדַּחְתָּ֣ם

hid·daḥ·tām

You have driven them

שָׁ֔ם

šām,

בְּמַעֲלָ֖ם

bə·ma·‘ă·lām

because of the unfaithfulness

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

’ă·šer

מָֽעֲלוּ־

mā·‘ă·lū-

they have committed

. בָֽךְ׃

､ יְהוָ֗ה

Yah·weh

לָ֚נוּ

to us

בֹּ֣שֶׁת

bō·šeṯ

[belongs] shame

､ הַפָּנִ֔ים

hap·pā·nîm,

of face ､

､ לִמְלָכֵ֥ינוּ

lim·lā·ḵê·nū

to our kings ､

､ לְשָׂרֵ֖ינוּ

lə·śā·rê·nū

our princes ､

､ וְלַאֲבֹתֵ֑ינוּ

wə·la·’ă·ḇō·ṯê·nū;

and our fathers ､

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

’ă·šer

חָטָ֖אנוּ

ḥā·ṭā·nū

. לָֽךְ׃

לַֽאדֹנָ֣י

To the Lord

אֱלֹהֵ֔ינוּ

’ĕ·lō·hê·nū,

הָרַחֲמִ֖ים

hā·ra·ḥă·mîm

､ וְהַסְּלִח֑וֹת

wə·has·sə·li·ḥō·wṯ;

and forgiveness ､

כִּ֥י

kî

מָרַ֖דְנוּ

mā·raḏ·nū

we have rebelled

. בּֽוֹ׃

bōw.

וְלֹ֣א

wə·lō

And not

שָׁמַ֔עְנוּ

šā·ma‘·nū,

בְּק֖וֹל

bə·qō·wl

the voice of

יְהוָ֣ה

Yah·weh

､ אֱלֹהֵ֑ינוּ

’ĕ·lō·hê·nū;

לָלֶ֤כֶת

lā·le·ḵeṯ

､ בְּתֽוֹרֹתָיו֙

bə·ṯō·w·rō·ṯāw

in His laws ､

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

’ă·šer

נָתַ֣ן

nā·ṯan

He set

לְפָנֵ֔ינוּ

lə·p̄ā·nê·nū,

בְּיַ֖ד

bə·yaḏ

by

עֲבָדָ֥יו

‘ă·ḇā·ḏāw

. הַנְּבִיאִֽים׃

han·nə·ḇî·’îm.

וְכָל־

wə·ḵāl

יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל

yiś·rā·’êl,

עָֽבְרוּ֙

‘ā·ḇə·rū

has transgressed

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

､ תּ֣וֹרָתֶ֔ךָ

tō·w·rā·ṯe·ḵā,

､ וְס֕וֹר

wə·sō·wr

and has departed ､

לְבִלְתִּ֖י

lə·ḇil·tî

so as not

שְׁמ֣וֹעַ

šə·mō·w·a‘

– בְּקֹלֶ֑ךָ

bə·qō·le·ḵā;

וַתִּתַּ֨ךְ

wat·tit·taḵ

therefore have been poured out

עָלֵ֜ינוּ

‘ā·lê·nū

on us

הָאָלָ֣ה

hā·’ā·lāh

the oath

וְהַשְּׁבֻעָ֗ה

wə·haš·šə·ḇu·‘āh,

and the curse

אֲשֶׁ֤ר

’ă·šer

כְּתוּבָה֙

kə·ṯū·ḇāh

בְּתוֹרַת֙

bə·ṯō·w·raṯ

in the Law

מֹשֶׁ֣ה

mō·šeh

עֶֽבֶד־

‘e·ḇeḏ-

､ הָֽאֱלֹהִ֔ים

of God ､

הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם

הָרָעָ֥ה

הַזֹּ֖את

בָּ֣אָה

bā·’āh

עָלֵ֑ינוּ

‘ā·lê·nū;

וְלֹֽא־

wə·lō-

and yet not

חִלִּ֜ינוּ

ḥil·lî·nū

we have made our prayer

אֶת־

’eṯ-

with

פְּנֵ֣י ׀

pə·nê

יְהוָ֣ה

Yah·weh

､ אֱלֹהֵ֗ינוּ

’ĕ·lō·hê·nū,

לָשׁוּב֙

lā·šūḇ

that we might turn

､ מֵֽעֲוֺנֵ֔נוּ

mê·‘ă·wō·nê·nū,

from our iniquities ､

וּלְהַשְׂכִּ֖יל

ū·lə·haś·kîl

. בַּאֲמִתֶּֽךָ׃

ba·’ă·mit·te·ḵā.

וַיִּשְׁקֹ֤ד

way·yiš·qōḏ

Therefore has kept in mind

יְהוָה֙

on

､ הָ֣רָעָ֔ה

hā·rā·‘āh,

the disaster ､

וַיְבִיאֶ֖הָ

way·ḇî·’e·hā

and brought it

עָלֵ֑ינוּ

‘ā·lê·nū;

כִּֽי־

kî-

צַדִּ֞יק

ṣad·dîq

יְהוָ֣ה

Yah·weh

אֱלֹהֵ֗ינוּ

’ĕ·lō·hê·nū,

עַל־

‘al-

in

כָּל־

kāl-

מַֽעֲשָׂיו֙

ma·‘ă·śāw

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

’ă·šer

､ עָשָׂ֔ה

‘ā·śāh,

וְלֹ֥א

and though not

שָׁמַ֖עְנוּ

. בְּקֹלֽוֹ׃

､ וְעַתָּ֣ה ׀

הוֹצֵ֨אתָ

עַמְּךָ֜

‘am·mə·ḵā

מֵאֶ֤רֶץ

out of the land

מִצְרַ֙יִם֙

miṣ·ra·yim

､ בְּיָ֣ד

bə·yāḏ

with a hand ､

חֲזָקָ֔ה

ḥă·zā·qāh,

וַתַּֽעַשׂ־

wat·ta·‘aś-

and made

לְךָ֥

lə·ḵā

､ שֵׁ֖ם

a name ､

– כַּיּ֣וֹם

kay·yō·wm

as [it is] day –

הַזֶּ֑ה

haz·zeh;

､ חָטָ֖אנוּ

we have sinned ､

. רָשָֽׁעְנוּ׃

we have done wickedly .

Lord ､

according to all

Your righteousness ､

let be turned away

､ נָ֤א

nā

I pray ､

אַפְּךָ֙

וַחֲמָ֣תְךָ֔

wa·ḥă·mā·ṯə·ḵā,

מֵעִֽירְךָ֥

mê·‘î·rə·ḵā

､ יְרוּשָׁלִַ֖ם

– הַר־

har-

קָדְשֶׁ֑ךָ

､ בַחֲטָאֵ֙ינוּ֙

for our sins ､

אֶל־

to

תְּפִלַּ֤ת

､ עַבְדְּךָ֙

‘aḇ·də·ḵā

of Your servant ､

וְאֶל־

wə·’el-

and

､ תַּ֣חֲנוּנָ֔יו

ta·ḥă·nū·nāw,

his supplications ､

וְהָאֵ֣ר

wə·hā·’êr

and cause to shine

פָּנֶ֔יךָ

pā·ne·ḵā,

עַל־

‘al-

on

מִקְדָּשְׁךָ֖

miq·dā·šə·ḵā

､ הַשָּׁמֵ֑ם

haš·šā·mêm;

which is desolate ､

לְמַ֖עַן

lə·ma·‘an

. אֲדֹנָֽי׃

’ă·ḏō·nāy.

of Lord .

הַטֵּ֨ה

haṭ·ṭêh

､ אֱלֹהַ֥י ׀

my God ､

､ אָזְנְךָ֮

– וּֽשֲׁמָע֒

and hear –

[פקחה]

､ עֵינֶ֗יךָ

and see

שֹֽׁמְמֹתֵ֔ינוּ

our desolations

וְהָעִ֕יר

wə·hā·‘îr

and the city

אֲשֶׁר־

’ă·šer-

נִקְרָ֥א

– שִׁמְךָ֖

עָלֶ֑יהָ

כִּ֣י ׀

לֹ֣א

עַל־

､ צִדְקֹתֵ֗ינוּ

for Your own sake ､

my sin

and the sin

of my people

my supplication

וְהָאִ֣ישׁ

and the man

אֲשֶׁר֩

רָאִ֨יתִי

בֶחָז֤וֹן

in the vision

､ בַּתְּחִלָּה֙

at the beginning ､

מֻעָ֣ף

being caused to fly

､ בִּיעָ֔ף

נֹגֵ֣עַ

אֵלַ֔י

of the offering

וַיָּ֖בֶן

And he informed [me]

וַיְדַבֵּ֣ר

עִמִּ֑י

‘im·mî;

with me

､ וַיֹּאמַ֕ר

way·yō·mar

and said ､

､ דָּנִיֵּ֕אל

עַתָּ֥ה

‘at·tāh

יָצָ֖אתִי

yā·ṣā·ṯî

I have come forth

לְהַשְׂכִּילְךָ֥

lə·haś·kî·lə·ḵā

to give you skill

. בִינָֽה׃

ḇî·nāh.

to understand .

בִּתְחִלַּ֨ת

biṯ·ḥil·laṯ

At the beginning

תַּחֲנוּנֶ֜יךָ

ta·ḥă·nū·ne·ḵā

of your supplications

､ יָצָ֣א

and I

בָּ֣אתִי

bā·ṯî

לְהַגִּ֔יד

lə·hag·gîḏ,

כִּ֥י

kî

– חֲמוּד֖וֹת

ḥă·mū·ḏō·wṯ

greatly beloved –

אָ֑תָּה

’āt·tāh;

וּבִין֙

ū·ḇîn

therefore understand

､ בַּדָּבָ֔ר

bad·dā·ḇār,

the matter ､

וְהָבֵ֖ן

wə·hā·ḇên

. בַּמַּרְאֶֽה׃

bam·mar·’eh.

the vision .

שָׁבֻעִ֨ים

šā·ḇu·‘îm

שִׁבְעִ֜ים

šiḇ·‘îm

נֶחְתַּ֥ךְ

neḥ·taḵ

עַֽל־

‘al-

עַמְּךָ֣ ׀

‘am·mə·ḵā

וְעַל־

wə·‘al-

､ עִ֣יר

‘îr

city ､

קָדְשֶׁ֗ךָ

qāḏ·še·ḵā

לְכַלֵּ֨א

lə·ḵal·lê

､ הַפֶּ֜שַׁע

hap·pe·ša‘

the transgression ､

[ולחתם]

ū·laḥ·tōm

-

(וּלְהָתֵ֤ם)

ū·lə·hā·ṯêm

to make an end of

[חטאות]

ḥaṭ·ṭā·’ō·wṯ

-

､ (חַטָּאת֙)

ḥaṭ·ṭāṯ

sins ､

וּלְכַפֵּ֣ר

ū·lə·ḵap·pêr

and to make reconciliation for

､ עָוֺ֔ן

‘ā·wōn,

וּלְהָבִ֖יא

ū·lə·hā·ḇî

and to bring in

､ צֶ֣דֶק

ṣe·ḏeq

righteousness ､

עֹֽלָמִ֑ים

‘ō·lā·mîm;

וְלַחְתֹּם֙

wə·laḥ·tōm

and to seal up

חָז֣וֹן

ḥā·zō·wn

､ וְנָבִ֔יא

wə·nā·ḇî,

and prophecy ､

וְלִמְשֹׁ֖חַ

wə·lim·šō·aḥ

and to anoint

קֹ֥דֶשׁ

qō·ḏeš

the Holy

. קָֽדָשִֽׁים׃

qā·ḏā·šîm.

וְתֵדַ֨ע

wə·ṯê·ḏa‘

､ וְתַשְׂכֵּ֜ל

wə·ṯaś·kêl

and understand ､

מִן־

min-

מֹצָ֣א

mō·ṣā

the going forth

דָבָ֗ר

ḏā·ḇār,

of the command

לְהָשִׁיב֙

lə·hā·šîḇ

וְלִבְנ֤וֹת

wə·liḇ·nō·wṯ

יְרֽוּשָׁלִַ֙ם֙

yə·rū·šā·lim

עַד־

‘aḏ-

מָשִׁ֣יחַ

mā·šî·aḥ

נָגִ֔יד

nā·ḡîḏ,

､ שָׁבֻעִ֖ים

šā·ḇu·‘îm

[There shall be] weeks ､

שִׁבְעָ֑ה

šiḇ·‘āh;

– וְשָׁבֻעִ֞ים

wə·šā·ḇu·‘îm

and weeks –

שִׁשִּׁ֣ים

šiš·šîm

וּשְׁנַ֗יִם

ū·šə·na·yim,

and two

､ תָּשׁוּב֙

tā·šūḇ

וְנִבְנְתָה֙

wə·niḇ·nə·ṯāh

and shall be built

רְח֣וֹב

rə·ḥō·wḇ

､ וְחָר֔וּץ

wə·ḥā·rūṣ,

and the wall ､

וּבְצ֖וֹק

ū·ḇə·ṣō·wq

and Even in troublesome

. הָעִתִּֽים׃

hā·‘it·tîm.

וְאַחֲרֵ֤י

wə·’a·ḥă·rê

הַשָּׁבֻעִים֙

haš·šā·ḇu·‘îm

שִׁשִּׁ֣ים

šiš·šîm

וּשְׁנַ֔יִם

ū·šə·na·yim,

and two

､ יִכָּרֵ֥ת

yik·kā·rêṯ

shall be cut off ､

מָשִׁ֖יחַ

mā·šî·aḥ

וְאֵ֣ין

wə·’ên

but not

ל֑וֹ

lōw;

וְהָעִ֨יר

wə·hā·‘îr

and the city

– וְהַקֹּ֜דֶשׁ

wə·haq·qō·ḏeš

and the sanctuary –

יַ֠שְׁחִית

yaš·ḥîṯ

עַ֣ם

‘am

נָגִ֤יד

nā·ḡîḏ

of the prince

הַבָּא֙

hab·bā

who is to come

וְקִצּ֣וֹ

wə·qiṣ·ṣōw

and the end of it [shall be]

､ בַשֶּׁ֔טֶף

ḇaš·še·ṭep̄,

with a flood ､

וְעַד֙

wə·‘aḏ

and till

קֵ֣ץ

qêṣ

the end

מִלְחָמָ֔ה

mil·ḥā·māh,

of the war

נֶחֱרֶ֖צֶת

ne·ḥĕ·re·ṣeṯ

. שֹׁמֵמֽוֹת׃

šō·mê·mō·wṯ.

וְהִגְבִּ֥יר

wə·hiḡ·bîr

And he shall confirm

בְּרִ֛ית

bə·rîṯ

לָרַבִּ֖ים

lā·rab·bîm

with many

､ שָׁב֣וּעַ

šā·ḇū·a‘

אֶחָ֑ד

’e·ḥāḏ;

וַחֲצִ֨י

wa·ḥă·ṣî

but in the middle

הַשָּׁב֜וּעַ

haš·šā·ḇū·a‘

of the week

､ יַשְׁבִּ֣ית ׀

yaš·bîṯ

He shall bring an end to ､

זֶ֣בַח

ze·ḇaḥ

וּמִנְחָ֗ה

ū·min·ḥāh,

וְעַ֨ל

wə·‘al

and on

כְּנַ֤ף

kə·nap̄

the wing

שִׁקּוּצִים֙

šiq·qū·ṣîm

of abominations

､ מְשֹׁמֵ֔ם

mə·šō·mêm,

shall be one who makes desolate ､

וְעַד־

wə·‘aḏ-

､ כָּלָה֙

kā·lāh

the consummation ､

וְנֶ֣חֱרָצָ֔ה

wə·ne·ḥĕ·rā·ṣāh,

and which is determined

תִּתַּ֖ךְ

tit·taḵ

עַל־

‘al-

on

. שֹׁמֵֽם׃

šō·mêm.
