So it shall be ､
כְּקָֽרָבְכֶ֖ם

when you are on the verge
אֶל־

､ הַמִּלְחָמָ֑ה
ham·mil·ḥā·māh;
battle ､
וְנִגַּ֥שׁ
wə·nig·gaš
הַכֹּהֵ֖ן
hak·kō·hên
the priest
וְדִבֶּ֥ר
wə·ḏib·ber
and speak
אֶל־
’el-
to
､ הָעָֽם׃
hā·‘ām.
the people ､

וְאָמַ֤ר

and he shall say
אֲלֵהֶם֙

to them
､ שְׁמַ֣ע
šə·ma‘
Hear ､
､ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל
yiś·rā·’êl,
Israel ､
אַתֶּ֨ם
’at·tem
קְרֵבִ֥ים

are on the verge
הַיּ֛וֹם
hay·yō·wm
לַמִּלְחָמָ֖ה
lam·mil·ḥā·māh
עַל־
‘al-
with
– אֹיְבֵיכֶ֑ם

אַל־

not
､ יֵרַ֣ךְ

do let faint ､
לְבַבְכֶ֗ם

תִּֽירְא֧וּ

do be afraid

עִם־

to his house ､

let him go
וְיָשֹׁ֣ב

and return
､ לְבֵית֑וֹ
lə·ḇê·ṯōw;
to his house ､

יָמוּת֙

the people ､

and say ､
מִי־

who [is]
הָאִ֤ישׁ

the man
הַיָּרֵא֙
hay·yā·rê
וְרַ֣ךְ
wə·raḵ
and
؟ הַלֵּבָ֔ב
hal·lê·ḇāḇ,
יֵלֵ֖ךְ
yê·lêḵ
let him go
וְיָשֹׁ֣ב
wə·yā·šōḇ
and return
､ לְבֵית֑וֹ
lə·ḇê·ṯōw;
to his house ､
וְלֹ֥א
wə·lō
and lest
יִמַּ֛ס
yim·mas
אֶת־
’eṯ-
-
לְבַ֥ב
lə·ḇaḇ
the heart
אֶחָ֖יו
’e·ḥāw
. כִּלְבָבֽוֹ׃
kil·ḇā·ḇōw.

､ וְהָיָ֛ה

And when so it shall be ､
כְּכַלֹּ֥ת
kə·ḵal·lōṯ
הַשֹּׁטְרִ֖ים
haš·šō·ṭə·rîm
לְדַבֵּ֣ר
lə·ḏab·bêr
אֶל־
’el-
to
､ הָעָ֑ם
hā·‘ām;
the people ､
וּפָֽקְד֛וּ
ū·p̄ā·qə·ḏū
שָׂרֵ֥י
śā·rê
צְבָא֖וֹת
ṣə·ḇā·’ō·wṯ
of the armies
בְּרֹ֥אשׁ
bə·rōš
to lead
. הָעָֽם׃
hā·‘ām.
the people .

וְקָרָ֥אתָ

אֵלֶ֖יהָ
’ê·le·hā
to it
. לְשָׁלֽוֹם׃

And it shall be ､

､ שָׁל֣וֹם

of peace ､
תַּֽעַנְךָ֔
ta·‘an·ḵā,
וּפָתְחָ֖ה
ū·p̄ā·ṯə·ḥāh
and open
לָ֑ךְ
lāḵ;
to you
､ וְהָיָ֞ה
wə·hā·yāh
then ､
כָּל־
kāl-
הָעָ֣ם
hā·‘ām
the people
הַנִּמְצָא־
han·nim·ṣā-
בָ֗הּ
ḇāh,
in it
יִהְי֥וּ
yih·yū
לְךָ֛
lə·ḵā
to you
לָמַ֖ס
lā·mas
. וַעֲבָדֽוּךָ׃
wa·‘ă·ḇā·ḏū·ḵā.
and serve you .

וְאִם־
wə·’im-
And if
לֹ֤א

not
תַשְׁלִים֙
ṯaš·lîm
[the city] will make peace
עִמָּ֔ךְ
‘im·māḵ,
with you
וְעָשְׂתָ֥ה
wə·‘ā·śə·ṯāh
but makes
עִמְּךָ֖
‘im·mə·ḵā
מִלְחָמָ֑ה
mil·ḥā·māh;
וְצַרְתָּ֖
wə·ṣar·tā
. עָלֶֽיהָּ׃‪‬‪‬
‘ā·le·hā.
it .

וּנְתָנָ֛הּ

And when delivers it
יְהוָ֥ה

אֱלֹהֶ֖יךָ

､ בְּיָדֶ֑ךָ
bə·yā·ḏe·ḵā;
וְהִכִּיתָ֥
wə·hik·kî·ṯā
אֶת־
’eṯ-

כָּל־
kāl-
זְכוּרָ֖הּ

male in it
לְפִי־

with the edge
. חָֽרֶב׃

of the sword .

and the Amorite ､
､ הַכְּנַעֲנִ֣י
hak·kə·na·‘ă·nî
and the Canaanite ､
､ וְהַפְּרִזִּ֔י
wə·hap·pə·riz·zî,
and the Perizzite ､
､ הַחִוִּ֖י
ha·ḥiw·wî
and the Hivite ､
– וְהַיְבוּסִ֑י
wə·hay·ḇū·sî;
and the Jebusite –
כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר

just as
צִוְּךָ֖
