– בַּאֲחֹתָ֑הּ

ba·’ă·ḥō·ṯāh;

וַתֹּ֤אמֶר

and said

אֶֽל־

､ יַעֲקֹב֙

הָֽבָה־

hā·ḇāh-

לִּ֣י

､ בָנִ֔ים

וְאִם־

and if

will die

. אָנֹֽכִי׃

And was kindled

､ בְּרָחֵ֑ל

against Rachel ､

､ וַיֹּ֗אמֶר

way·yō·mer,

and he said ､

הֲתַ֤חַת

hă·ṯa·ḥaṯ

[am] in the place

אֱלֹהִים֙

’ĕ·lō·hîm

of God

､ אָנֹ֔כִי

’ā·nō·ḵî,

I ､

אֲשֶׁר־

’ă·šer-

מָנַ֥ע

mā·na‘

מִמֵּ֖ךְ

mim·mêḵ

פְּרִי־

pə·rî-

؟ בָֽטֶן׃

ḇā·ṭen.

of the womb ؟

､ וַתֹּ֕אמֶר

wat·tō·mer

so she said ､

הִנֵּ֛ה

hin·nêh

אֲמָתִ֥י

’ă·mā·ṯî

､ בִלְהָ֖ה

ḇil·hāh

בֹּ֣א

bō

go in

אֵלֶ֑יהָ

’ê·le·hā;

to her

וְתֵלֵד֙

wə·ṯê·lêḏ

and she will bear [a child]

עַל־

､ בִּרְכַּ֔י

bir·kay,

my knees ､

וְאִבָּנֶ֥ה

wə·’ib·bā·neh

that may have children

גַם־

אָנֹכִ֖י

to her

. יַעֲקֹֽב׃

ya·‘ă·qōḇ.

וַתַּ֣הַר

､ בִּלְהָ֔ה

bil·hāh,

וַתֵּ֥לֶד

wat·tê·leḏ

and bore

לְיַעֲקֹ֖ב

lə·ya·‘ă·qōḇ

. בֵּֽן׃

bên.

a son .

וַתֹּ֤אמֶר

wat·tō·mer

And said

､ רָחֵל֙

rā·ḥêl

דָּנַ֣נִּי

dā·nan·nî

has judged my case

､ אֱלֹהִ֔ים

’ĕ·lō·hîm,

God ､

וְגַם֙

wə·ḡam

and also

שָׁמַ֣ע

šā·ma‘

､ בְּקֹלִ֔י

bə·qō·lî,

my voice ､

וַיִּתֶּן־

way·yit·ten-

לִ֖י

me

､ בֵּ֑ן

a son ､

עַל־

with great

נִפְתַּ֛לְתִּי

I have wrestled

עִם־

with

､ אֲחֹתִ֖י

my sister ､

גַּם־

gam-

. יָכֹ֑לְתִּי

I have prevailed .

וַתִּקְרָ֥א

. נַפְתָּלִֽי׃

､ מִלֶּ֑דֶת

וַתִּקַּח֙

､ שִׁפְחָתָ֔הּ

her maidservant ､

וַתִּתֵּ֥ן

and gave

לְיַעֲקֹ֖ב

. לְאִשָּֽׁה׃

I am happy ､

אִשְּׁר֖וּנִי

’iš·šə·rū·nî

will call me blessed

– בָּנ֑וֹת

the daughters –

And went

רְאוּבֵ֜ן

in the days

קְצִיר־

､ חִטִּ֗ים

וַיִּמְצָ֤א

way·yim·ṣā

and he found

דֽוּדָאִים֙

､ בַּשָּׂדֶ֔ה

in the field ､

וַיָּבֵ֣א

way·yā·ḇê

אֹתָ֔ם

אֶל־

לֵאָ֖ה

. אִמּ֑וֹ

וַתֹּ֤אמֶר

And said

רָחֵל֙

he will lie

עִמָּךְ֙

with you

､ בָּעֶרֶב֒

in the evening ､

וַתֵּצֵ֨א

לֵאָ֜ה

לִקְרָאת֗וֹ

liq·rā·ṯōw,

וַתֹּ֙אמֶר֙

and said

אֵלַ֣י

’ê·lay

to me

､ תָּב֔וֹא

tā·ḇō·w,

you must come in ､

כִּ֚י

kî

שָׂכֹ֣ר

śā·ḵōr

שְׂכַרְתִּ֔יךָ

śə·ḵar·tî·ḵā,

I have hired you

בְּדוּדָאֵ֖י

of my son .

וַיִּשְׁכַּ֥ב

And he lay

עִמָּ֖הּ

I have done for you .

､ לָבָ֔ן

､ אִם־

if ､

please [stay] ､

מָצָ֥אתִי

mā·ṣā·ṯî

חֵ֖ן

ḥên

､ בְּעֵינֶ֑יךָ

bə·‘ê·ne·ḵā;

in your eyes ､

נִחַ֕שְׁתִּי

ni·ḥaš·tî

I have learned by divination

וַיְבָרֲכֵ֥נִי

way·ḇā·ră·ḵê·nî

that has blessed me

יְהוָ֖ה

Yah·weh

. בִּגְלָלֶֽךָ׃

biḡ·lā·le·ḵā.

for your sake .

､ וַיֹּאמַ֑ר

way·yō·mar;

And he said ､

נָקְבָ֧ה

nā·qə·ḇāh

､ שְׂכָרְךָ֛

śə·ḵā·rə·ḵā

עָלַ֖י

‘ā·lay

me

. וְאֶתֵּֽנָה׃

wə·’et·tê·nāh.

and I will give [it] .

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר

way·yō·mer

So he said

､ אֵלָ֔יו

’ê·lāw,

to him ､

אַתָּ֣ה

’at·tāh

יָדַ֔עְתָּ

yā·ḏa‘·tā,

אֵ֖ת

-

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

’ă·šer

､ עֲבַדְתִּ֑יךָ

‘ă·ḇaḏ·tî·ḵā;

I have served you ､

וְאֵ֛ת

wə·’êṯ

and

אֲשֶׁר־

’ă·šer-

הָיָ֥ה

hā·yāh

מִקְנְךָ֖

miq·nə·ḵā

. אִתִּֽי׃

’it·tî.

with me .

כִּ֡י

מְעַט֩

אֲשֶׁר־

לְךָ֤

､ לְפָנַי֙

before I [came] ､

and it has increased

– לָרֹ֔ב

lā·rōḇ,

to a great amount –

וַיְבָ֧רֶךְ

way·ḇā·reḵ

and has blessed

יְהוָ֛ה

Yah·weh

אֹתְךָ֖

’ō·ṯə·ḵā

. לְרַגְלִ֑י

lə·raḡ·lî;

since my coming .

､ וְעַתָּ֗ה

wə·‘at·tāh,

Now ､

מָתַ֛י

mā·ṯay

אֶֽעֱשֶׂ֥ה

’e·‘ĕ·śeh

גַם־

ḡam-

אָנֹכִ֖י

I

؟ לְבֵיתִֽי׃

for my own house ؟

､ וַיֹּ֖אמֶר

so he said ､

מָ֣ה

אֶתֶּן־

’et·ten-

､ לָ֑ךְ

lāḵ;

you ､

וַיֹּ֤אמֶר

And said

יַעֲקֹב֙

ya·‘ă·qōḇ

לֹא־

lō-

not

תִתֶּן־

ṯit·ten-

לִ֣י

lî

me

. מְא֔וּמָה

mə·’ū·māh,

אִם־

’im-

If

תַּֽעֲשֶׂה־

ta·‘ă·śeh-

you will do

לִּי֙

for me

הַדָּבָ֣ר

had·dā·ḇār

､ הַזֶּ֔ה

haz·zeh,

this ､

אָשׁ֛וּבָה

I will again

among the lambs ､

וְטָל֥וּא

and the spotted

וְנָקֹ֖ד

– בָּעִזִּ֑ים

bā·‘iz·zîm;

among the goats –

וְהָיָ֖ה

wə·hā·yāh

and [these] shall be

. שְׂכָרִֽי׃

śə·ḵā·rî.

my wages .

וְעָֽנְתָה־

wə·‘ā·nə·ṯāh-

So will answer

בִּ֤י

for me

צִדְקָתִי֙

ṣiḏ·qā·ṯî

my righteousness

בְּי֣וֹם

bə·yō·wm

､ מָחָ֔ר

mā·ḥār,

to come ､

כִּֽי־

kî-

תָב֥וֹא

ṯā·ḇō·w

Oh

. כִדְבָרֶֽךָ׃

ḵiḏ·ḇā·re·ḵā.

according to your word .

וַיָּ֣סַר

way·yā·sar

בַּיּוֹם֩

bay·yō·wm

הַה֨וּא

ha·hū

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

הַתְּיָשִׁ֜ים

hat·tə·yā·šîm

הָֽעֲקֻדִּ֣ים

hā·‘ă·qud·dîm

that were speckled

､ וְהַטְּלֻאִ֗ים

wə·haṭ·ṭə·lu·’îm,

and spotted ､

וְאֵ֤ת

wə·’êṯ

and

כָּל־

kāl-

הָֽעִזִּים֙

hā·‘iz·zîm

the female goats

הַנְּקֻדּ֣וֹת

han·nə·qud·dō·wṯ

that were speckled

､ וְהַטְּלֻאֹ֔ת

wə·haṭ·ṭə·lu·’ōṯ,

and spotted ､

כֹּ֤ל

kōl

אֲשֶׁר־

’ă·šer-

that had [some]

לָבָן֙

lā·ḇān

､ בּ֔וֹ

bōw,

in it ､

וְכָל־

wə·ḵāl

and all

ח֖וּם

ḥūm

the dark-colored

､ בַּכְּשָׂבִ֑ים

bak·kə·śā·ḇîm;

among the lambs ､

וַיִּתֵּ֖ן

way·yit·tên

and gave [them]

בְּיַד־

bə·yaḏ-

. בָּנָֽיו׃

bā·nāw.

וַיָּ֗שֶׂם

way·yā·śem,

And he put

דֶּ֚רֶךְ

de·reḵ

שְׁלֹ֣שֶׁת

šə·lō·šeṯ

יָמִ֔ים

yā·mîm,

בֵּינ֖וֹ

bê·nōw

between himself

וּבֵ֣ין

ū·ḇên

and

､ יַעֲקֹ֑ב

ya·‘ă·qōḇ;

וְיַעֲקֹ֗ב

wə·ya·‘ă·qōḇ,

רֹעֶ֛ה

rō·‘eh

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

צֹ֥אן

ṣōn

לָבָ֖ן

lā·ḇān

. הַנּוֹתָרֹֽת׃

han·nō·w·ṯā·rōṯ.

the remainder .

וַיִּֽקַּֽח־

way·yiq·qaḥ-

And took

ל֣וֹ

יַעֲקֹ֗ב

ya·‘ă·qōḇ,

מַקַּ֥ל

maq·qal

､ לִבְנֶ֛ה

liḇ·neh

of poplar ､

לַ֖ח

laḥ

וְל֣וּז

wə·lūz

and of the almond

– וְעֶרְמ֑וֹן‪‬

wə·‘er·mō·wn;

and chestnut trees –

וַיְפַצֵּ֤ל

way·p̄aṣ·ṣêl

בָּהֵן֙

bā·hên

פְּצָל֣וֹת

pə·ṣā·lō·wṯ

､ לְבָנ֔וֹת

lə·ḇā·nō·wṯ,

מַחְשֹׂף֙

maḥ·śōp̄

הַלָּבָ֔ן

hal·lā·ḇān,

אֲשֶׁ֖ר

’ă·šer

עַל־

‘al-

in

. הַמַּקְלֽוֹת׃

ham·maq·lō·wṯ.

וַיַּצֵּ֗ג

way·yaṣ·ṣêḡ,

And he set

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

הַמַּקְלוֹת֙

ham·maq·lō·wṯ

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

’ă·šer

פִּצֵּ֔ל

piṣ·ṣêl,

בָּרֳהָטִ֖ים

bā·ro·hā·ṭîm

in the troughs

בְּשִֽׁקֲת֣וֹת

bə·ši·qă·ṯō·wṯ

､ הַמָּ֑יִם

ham·mā·yim;

the watering ､

אֲשֶׁר֩

’ă·šer

תָּבֹ֨אןָ

tā·ḇō·nā

הַצֹּ֤אן

haṣ·ṣōn

､ לִשְׁתּוֹת֙

liš·tō·wṯ

to drink ､

לְנֹ֣כַח

lə·nō·ḵaḥ

הַצֹּ֔אן

haṣ·ṣōn,

וַיֵּחַ֖מְנָה

way·yê·ḥam·nāh

so that they should conceive

בְּבֹאָ֥ן

bə·ḇō·’ān

. לִשְׁתּֽוֹת׃

liš·tō·wṯ.

to drink .

וַיֶּחֱמ֥וּ

way·ye·ḥĕ·mū

הַצֹּ֖אן

haṣ·ṣōn

אֶל־

’el-

､ הַמַּקְל֑וֹת

ham·maq·lō·wṯ;

the branches ､

וַתֵּלַ֣דְןָ

wat·tê·laḏ·nā

and brought forth

הַצֹּ֔אן

haṣ·ṣōn,

､ עֲקֻדִּ֥ים

‘ă·qud·dîm

､ נְקֻדִּ֖ים

nə·qud·dîm

. וּטְלֻאִֽים׃

ū·ṭə·lu·’îm.

､ וְהַכְּשָׂבִים֮

wə·hak·kə·śā·ḇîm

And the lambs ､

הִפְרִ֣יד

hip̄·rîḏ

יַעֲקֹב֒

ya·‘ă·qōḇ

וַ֠יִּתֵּן

way·yit·tên

and made

פְּנֵ֨י

pə·nê

הַצֹּ֧אן

haṣ·ṣōn

אֶל־

’el-

､ עָקֹ֛ד

‘ā·qōḏ

the streaked ､

וְכָל־

wə·ḵāl

and all

ח֖וּם

ḥūm

בְּצֹ֣אן

bə·ṣōn

in the flock

– לָבָ֑ן

lā·ḇān;

of Laban –

וַיָּֽשֶׁת־

way·yā·šeṯ-

but he put

ל֤וֹ

lōw

עֲדָרִים֙

‘ă·ḏā·rîm

､ לְבַדּ֔וֹ

lə·ḇad·dōw,

by themselves ､

וְלֹ֥א

wə·lō

and not

שָׁתָ֖ם

šā·ṯām

עַל־

‘al-

with

צֹ֥אן

ṣōn

. לָבָֽן׃

lā·ḇān.

of Laban .

､ וְהָיָ֗ה

wə·hā·yāh,

And it came to pass ､

בְּכָל־

bə·ḵāl

יַחֵם֮

ya·ḥêm

הַצֹּ֣אן

haṣ·ṣōn

הַמְקֻשָּׁרוֹת֒

ham·quš·šā·rō·wṯ

､ וְשָׂ֨ם

wə·śām

that placed ､

יַעֲקֹ֧ב

ya·‘ă·qōḇ

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

הַמַּקְל֛וֹת

ham·maq·lō·wṯ

לְעֵינֵ֥י

lə·‘ê·nê

before the eyes

הַצֹּ֖אן

haṣ·ṣōn

of the livestock

､ בָּרֳהָטִ֑ים

bā·ro·hā·ṭîm;

in the troughs ､

לְיַחְמֵ֖נָּה

lə·yaḥ·mên·nāh

that they might conceive

. בַּמַּקְלֽוֹת׃

bam·maq·lō·wṯ.

in front of the branches .

､ וּבְהַעֲטִ֥יף

ū·ḇə·ha·‘ă·ṭîp̄

But when were feeble ､

הַצֹּ֖אן

haṣ·ṣōn

לֹ֣א

lō

not

､ יָשִׂ֑ים

yā·śîm;

he did put [them] in ､

וְהָיָ֤ה

wə·hā·yāh

הָעֲטֻפִים֙

hā·‘ă·ṭu·p̄îm

､ לְלָבָ֔ן

lə·lā·ḇān,

of Laban ､

וְהַקְּשֻׁרִ֖ים

wə·haq·qə·šu·rîm

and the stronger

. לְיַעֲקֹֽב׃

lə·ya·‘ă·qōḇ.

of Jacob .

וַיִּפְרֹ֥ץ

way·yip̄·rōṣ

Thus became prosperous

הָאִ֖ישׁ

hā·’îš

the man

מְאֹ֣ד

mə·’ōḏ

､ מְאֹ֑ד

mə·’ōḏ;

וַֽיְהִי־

way·hî-

and had

לוֹ֙

lōw

to him

צֹ֣אן

ṣōn

､ רַבּ֔וֹת

rab·bō·wṯ,

､ וּשְׁפָחוֹת֙

ū·šə·p̄ā·ḥō·wṯ

and maidservants ､

､ וַעֲבָדִ֔ים

wa·‘ă·ḇā·ḏîm,

and menservants ､

､ וּגְמַלִּ֖ים

ū·ḡə·mal·lîm

and camels ､

. וַחֲמֹרִֽים׃

wa·ḥă·mō·rîm.
