אֶפְרַ֜יִם

רֹעֶ֥ה
rō·‘eh
､ ר֙וּחַ֙
rū·aḥ
on the wind ､
וְרֹדֵ֣ף
wə·rō·ḏêp̄
– קָדִ֔ים
qā·ḏîm,
the east [wind] –
כָּל־
kāl-
הַיּ֕וֹם
hay·yō·wm
כָּזָ֥ב
kā·zāḇ
– וָשֹׁ֖ד
wā·šōḏ
and desolation –
יַרְבֶּ֑ה
yar·beh;
וּבְרִית֙
ū·ḇə·rîṯ
and a covenant
עִם־
‘im-
with
､ אַשּׁ֣וּר
’aš·šūr
יִכְרֹ֔תוּ
yiḵ·rō·ṯū,
וְשֶׁ֖מֶן
wə·še·men
and oil
לְמִצְרַ֥יִם
lə·miṣ·ra·yim
. יוּבָֽל׃
yū·ḇāl.
is carried .

וְרִ֥יב
wə·rîḇ
And a charge
לַֽיהוָ֖ה
Yah·weh
עִם־
‘im-
､ יְהוּדָ֑ה
yə·hū·ḏāh;
Judah ､
וְלִפְקֹ֤ד
wə·lip̄·qōḏ
and will punish
עַֽל־
‘al-
on
יַעֲקֹב֙
ya·‘ă·qōḇ
– כִּדְרָכָ֔יו
kiḏ·rā·ḵāw,
כְּמַעֲלָלָ֖יו
kə·ma·‘ă·lā·lāw
יָשִׁ֥יב
yā·šîḇ
He will recompense
. לֽוֹ׃
lōw.
him .

､ בַּבֶּ֖טֶן
bab·be·ṭen
In the womb ､
עָקַ֣ב
‘ā·qaḇ
He took by the heel
אֶת־
’eṯ-
-
אָחִ֑יו
’ā·ḥîw;
וּבְאוֹנ֖וֹ
ū·ḇə·’ō·w·nōw
and in his strength
שָׂרָ֥ה
śā·rāh
אֶת־
’eṯ-
with
. אֱלֹהִֽים׃
’ĕ·lō·hîm.
God .
4
וָיָּ֤שַׂר
wāy·yā·śar
And Yes he struggled
אֶל־
’el-
with
､ מַלְאָךְ֙
mal·’āḵ
the Angel ､
– וַיֻּכָ֔ל
way·yu·ḵāl,
and prevailed –
､ בָּכָ֖ה
bā·ḵāh
He wept ､
וַיִּתְחַנֶּן־
way·yiṯ·ḥan·nen-
ל֑וֹ
lōw;
בֵּֽית־
bêṯ-
[in]
､ אֵל֙
’êl
Bethel ､
יִמְצָאֶ֔נּוּ
yim·ṣā·’en·nū,
וְשָׁ֖ם
wə·šām
and there
יְדַבֵּ֥ר
yə·ḏab·bêr
. עִמָּֽנוּ׃
‘im·mā·nū.
to us .

וַֽיהוָ֖ה
Yah·weh
אֱלֹהֵ֣י
’ĕ·lō·hê
– הַצְּבָא֑וֹת
haṣ·ṣə·ḇā·’ō·wṯ;
of hosts –
יְהוָ֖ה
Yah·weh
Yahweh [is]
. זִכְרֽוֹ׃
ziḵ·rōw.

וְאַתָּ֖ה
wə·’at·tāh
So you
､ בֵּאלֹהֶ֣יךָ
bê·lō·he·ḵā
by [the help of] your God ､
תָשׁ֑וּב
ṯā·šūḇ;
חֶ֤סֶד
ḥe·seḏ
､ וּמִשְׁפָּט֙
ū·miš·pāṭ
and justice ､
שְׁמֹ֔ר
šə·mōr,
וְקַוֵּ֥ה
wə·qaw·wêh
and wait
אֶל־
’el-
on
אֱלֹהֶ֖יךָ
’ĕ·lō·he·ḵā
. תָּמִֽיד׃
tā·mîḏ.
7
､ כְּנַ֗עַן
kə·na·‘an,
Canaan ､
– בְּיָד֛וֹ
bə·yā·ḏōw
in his hand –
מֹאזְנֵ֥י
mō·zə·nê
מִרְמָ֖ה
mir·māh
לַעֲשֹׁ֥ק
la·‘ă·šōq
. אָהֵֽב׃
’ā·hêḇ.
He loves .

､ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר
way·yō·mer
And said ､
אֶפְרַ֔יִם
’ep̄·ra·yim,
אַ֣ךְ
’aḵ
､ עָשַׁ֔רְתִּי
‘ā·šar·tî,
מָצָ֥אתִי
mā·ṣā·ṯî
– א֖וֹן
’ō·wn
wealth –
לִ֑י
lî;
כָּל־
kāl-
[In] all
יְגִיעַ֕י
yə·ḡî·‘ay
לֹ֥א
lō
no
יִמְצְאוּ־
yim·ṣə·’ū-
לִ֖י
lî
in me
עָוֺ֥ן
‘ā·wōn
אֲשֶׁר־
’ă·šer-
that [is]
. חֵֽטְא׃
ḥêṭ.
sin .
9
וְאָנֹכִ֛י
wə·’ā·nō·ḵî
But I [am]
יְהוָ֥ה
Yah·weh
אֱלֹהֶ֖יךָ
’ĕ·lō·he·ḵā
מֵאֶ֣רֶץ
mê·’e·reṣ
מִצְרָ֑יִם
miṣ·rā·yim;
עֹ֛ד
‘ōḏ
אוֹשִֽׁיבְךָ֥
’ō·wō·šî·ḇə·ḵā
I will make you dwell
､ בָאֳהָלִ֖ים
ḇā·’o·hā·lîm
in tents ､
כִּימֵ֥י
kî·mê
as in the days
. מוֹעֵֽד׃
mō·w·‘êḏ.
of the appointed feast .
10
וְדִבַּ֙רְתִּי֙
wə·ḏib·bar·tî
And I have spoken
עַל־
‘al-
by
､ הַנְּבִיאִ֔ים
han·nə·ḇî·’îm,
the prophets ､
וְאָנֹכִ֖י
wə·’ā·nō·ḵî
and I
､ חָז֣וֹן
ḥā·zō·wn
הִרְבֵּ֑יתִי
hir·bê·ṯî;
וּבְיַ֥ד
ū·ḇə·yaḏ
. הַנְּבִיאִ֖ים
han·nə·ḇî·’îm
of the prophets .
､ אֲדַמֶּֽה׃
’ă·ḏam·meh.
11
אִם־
’im-
؟ גִּלְעָ֥ד
gil·‘āḏ
Gilead [has] ؟
אָ֙וֶן֙
’ā·wen
אַךְ־
’aḵ-
. שָׁ֣וְא
šāw
הָי֔וּ
hā·yū,
– בַּגִּלְגָּ֖ל
bag·gil·gāl
in Gilgal –
שְׁוָרִ֣ים
šə·wā·rîm
זִבֵּ֑חוּ
zib·bê·ḥū;
､ גַּ֤ם
gam
indeed ､
מִזְבְּחוֹתָם֙
miz·bə·ḥō·w·ṯām
כְּגַלִּ֔ים
kə·ḡal·lîm,
עַ֖ל
‘al
in
תַּלְמֵ֥י
tal·mê
. שָׂדָֽי׃
śā·ḏāy.
of the field .
12
וַיִּבְרַ֥ח
way·yiḇ·raḥ
And fled
יַעֲקֹ֖ב
ya·‘ă·qōḇ
שְׂדֵ֣ה
śə·ḏêh
to the country
､ אֲרָ֑ם
’ă·rām;
of Syria ､
וַיַּעֲבֹ֤ד
way·ya·‘ă·ḇōḏ
and served
יִשְׂרָאֵל֙
yiś·rā·’êl
､ בְּאִשָּׁ֔ה
bə·’iš·šāh,
for a spouse ､
וּבְאִשָּׁ֖ה
ū·ḇə·’iš·šāh
and for a wife
. שָׁמָֽר׃
šā·mār.
he tended [sheep] .
13
וּבְנָבִ֕יא
ū·ḇə·nā·ḇî
And by a prophet
הֶעֱלָ֧ה
he·‘ĕ·lāh
יְהוָ֛ה
Yah·weh
אֶת־
’eṯ-
-
יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל
yiś·rā·’êl
מִמִּצְרָ֑יִם
mim·miṣ·rā·yim;
וּבְנָבִ֖יא
ū·ḇə·nā·ḇî
and by a prophet
. נִשְׁמָֽר׃
niš·mār.
14
הִכְעִ֥יס
hiḵ·‘îs
אֶפְרַ֖יִם
’ep̄·ra·yim
– תַּמְרוּרִ֑ים
tam·rū·rîm;
וְדָמָיו֙
wə·ḏā·māw
עָלָ֣יו
‘ā·lāw
יִטּ֔וֹשׁ
yiṭ·ṭō·wōš,
will leave
וְחֶ֨רְפָּת֔וֹ
wə·ḥer·pā·ṯōw,
יָשִׁ֥יב
yā·šîḇ
ל֖וֹ
lōw
. אֲדֹנָֽיו׃
’ă·ḏō·nāw.
