מַה־

mah-

לָּ֣ךְ

lāḵ

､ אֵפ֔וֹא

’ê·p̄ō·w,

now ､

כִּֽי־

kî-

עָלִ֥ית

‘ā·lîṯ

you have gone up

כֻּלָּ֖ךְ

kul·lāḵ

؟ לַגַּגּֽוֹת׃

lag·gag·gō·wṯ.

to the housetops ؟

､ תְּשֻׁא֣וֹת ׀

tə·šu·’ō·wṯ

מְלֵאָ֗ה

mə·lê·’āh,

You who are full

､ עִ֚יר

‘îr

of a city ､

הֽוֹמִיָּ֔ה

hō·w·mî·yāh,

– קִרְיָ֖ה

qir·yāh

a city –

עַלִּיזָ֑ה

‘al·lî·zāh;

חֲלָלַ֙יִךְ֙

ḥă·lā·la·yiḵ

Your slain [men]

לֹ֣א

not

חַלְלֵי־

ḥal·lê-

､ חֶ֔רֶב

ḥe·reḇ,

with the sword ､

וְלֹ֖א

wə·lō

מֵתֵ֥י

mê·ṯê

. מִלְחָמָֽה׃

mil·ḥā·māh.

כָּל־

kāl-

קְצִינַ֥יִךְ

qə·ṣî·na·yiḵ

נָֽדְדוּ־

nā·ḏə·ḏū-

､ יַ֖חַד

ya·ḥaḏ

– מִקֶּ֣שֶׁת

miq·qe·šeṯ

by the archers –

אֻסָּ֑רוּ

’us·sā·rū;

they are captured

כָּל־

kāl-

נִמְצָאַ֙יִךְ֙

nim·ṣā·’a·yiḵ

who are found in you

אֻסְּר֣וּ

’us·sə·rū

､ יַחְדָּ֔ו

yaḥ·dāw,

מֵרָח֖וֹק

mê·rā·ḥō·wq

. בָּרָֽחוּ׃

bā·rā·ḥū.

they have fled .

עַל־

‘al-

כֵּ֥ן

kên

אָמַ֛רְתִּי

’ā·mar·tî

שְׁע֥וּ

šə·‘ū

מִנִּ֖י

min·nî

､ אֲמָרֵ֣ר

’ă·mā·rêr

I will bitterly ､

בַּבֶּ֑כִי

bab·be·ḵî;

אַל־

’al-

not

תָּאִ֣יצוּ

tā·’î·ṣū

לְנַֽחֲמֵ֔נִי

lə·na·ḥă·mê·nî,

עַל־

‘al-

שֹׁ֖ד

šōḏ

of the plundering

בַּת־

baṯ-

of the daughter

. עַמִּֽי׃

‘am·mî.

of my people .

כִּ֣י

kî

יוֹם֩

yō·wm

[it is] a day

､ מְהוּמָ֨ה

mə·hū·māh

of trouble ､

､ וּמְבוּסָ֜ה

ū·mə·ḇū·sāh

and treading down ､

וּמְבוּכָ֗ה

ū·mə·ḇū·ḵāh,

לַֽאדֹנָ֧י

la·ḏō·nāy

by the Lord

יְהוִ֛ה

Yah·weh

צְבָא֖וֹת

ṣə·ḇā·’ō·wṯ

בְּגֵ֣יא

bə·ḡê

in the Valley

､ חִזָּי֑וֹן

ḥiz·zā·yō·wn;

of Vision ､

מְקַרְקַ֥ר

mə·qar·qar

､ קִ֖ר

qir

the walls ､

וְשׁ֥וֹעַ

wə·šō·w·a‘

and of crying

אֶל־

’el-

to

. הָהָֽר׃

hā·hār.

וְעֵילָם֙

wə·‘ê·lām

And Elam

נָשָׂ֣א

nā·śā

אַשְׁפָּ֔ה

’aš·pāh,

בְּרֶ֥כֶב

bə·re·ḵeḇ

אָדָ֖ם

’ā·ḏām

of men

､ פָּֽרָשִׁ֑ים

pā·rā·šîm;

[and] horsemen ､

וְקִ֥יר

wə·qîr

and Kir

עֵרָ֖ה

‘ê·rāh

. מָגֵֽן׃

mā·ḡên.

the shield .

､ וַיְהִ֥י

way·hî

And it shall come to pass [that] ､

מִבְחַר־

miḇ·ḥar-

עֲמָקַ֖יִךְ

‘ă·mā·qa·yiḵ

מָ֣לְאוּ

mā·lə·’ū

､ רָ֑כֶב

rā·ḵeḇ;

of chariots ､

וְהַפָּ֣רָשִׁ֔ים

wə·hap·pā·rā·šîm,

and the horsemen

שֹׁ֖ת

šōṯ

שָׁ֥תוּ

šā·ṯū

shall set themselves

. הַשָּֽׁעְרָה׃

haš·šā·‘ə·rāh.

at the gate .

וַיְגַ֕ל

way·ḡal

And He removed

אֵ֖ת

’êṯ

-

מָסַ֣ךְ

mā·saḵ

､ יְהוּדָ֑ה

yə·hū·ḏāh;

of Judah ､

וַתַּבֵּט֙

wat·tab·bêṭ

בַּיּ֣וֹם

bay·yō·wm

in day

הַה֔וּא

ha·hū,

אֶל־

’el-

to

נֶ֖שֶׁק

ne·šeq

בֵּ֥ית

bêṯ

of the House

. הַיָּֽעַר׃

hay·yā·‘ar.

of the Forest .

וְאֵ֨ת

wə·’êṯ

And also

בְּקִיעֵ֧י

bə·qî·‘ê

the damage to

עִיר־

‘îr-

the city

､ דָּוִ֛ד

dā·wiḏ

of David ､

רְאִיתֶ֖ם

rə·’î·ṯem

כִּי־

kî-

רָ֑בּוּ

rāb·bū;

וַֽתְּקַבְּצ֔וּ

wat·tə·qab·bə·ṣū,

and you gathered together

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

מֵ֥י

mê

הַבְּרֵכָ֖ה

hab·bə·rê·ḵāh

of the pool

. הַתַּחְתּוֹנָֽה׃

hat·taḥ·tō·w·nāh.

וְאֶת־

wə·’eṯ-

And

בָּתֵּ֥י

bāt·tê

､ יְרוּשָׁלִַ֖ם

yə·rū·šā·lim

of Jerusalem ､

סְפַרְתֶּ֑ם

sə·p̄ar·tem;

וַתִּתְֿצוּ֙

wat·tiṯṣəw

and you broke down

הַבָּ֣תִּ֔ים

hab·bāt·tîm,

לְבַצֵּ֖ר

lə·ḇaṣ·ṣêr

. הַחוֹמָֽה׃

ha·ḥō·w·māh.

the wall .

וּמִקְוָ֣ה ׀

ū·miq·wāh

And a reservoir

עֲשִׂיתֶ֗ם

‘ă·śî·ṯem,

בֵּ֚ין

bên

הַחֹ֣מֹתַ֔יִם

ha·ḥō·mō·ṯa·yim,

לְמֵ֖י

lə·mê

. הַבְּרֵכָ֣ה

hab·bə·rê·ḵāh

of the pool .

הַיְשָׁנָ֑ה

hay·šā·nāh;

וְלֹ֤א

wə·lō

but not

הִבַּטְתֶּם֙

hib·baṭ·tem

אֶל־

’el-

to

עֹשֶׂ֔יהָ

‘ō·śe·hā,

וְיֹצְרָ֥הּ

wə·yō·ṣə·rāh

for Him who fashioned it

מֵֽרָח֖וֹק

mê·rā·ḥō·wq

לֹ֥א

lō

. רְאִיתֶֽם׃

rə·’î·ṯem.

did you have respect .

וַיִּקְרָ֗א

way·yiq·rā,

אֲדֹנָ֧י

’ă·ḏō·nāy

the Lord

יְהוִ֛ה

Yah·weh

צְבָא֖וֹת

ṣə·ḇā·’ō·wṯ

בַּיּ֣וֹם

bay·yō·wm

in day

הַה֑וּא

ha·hū;

､ לִבְכִי֙

liḇ·ḵî

for weeping ､

､ וּלְמִסְפֵּ֔ד

ū·lə·mis·pêḏ,

for mourning ､

､ וּלְקָרְחָ֖ה

ū·lə·qā·rə·ḥāh

for baldness ､

וְלַחֲגֹ֥ר

wə·la·ḥă·ḡōr

for girding with

. שָֽׂק׃

śāq.

וְהִנֵּ֣ה ׀

wə·hin·nêh

שָׂשׂ֣וֹן

śā·śō·wn

､ וְשִׂמְחָ֗ה

wə·śim·ḥāh,

and gladness ､

הָרֹ֤ג ׀

hā·rōḡ

､ בָּקָר֙

bā·qār

oxen ､

וְשָׁחֹ֣ט

wə·šā·ḥōṭ

､ צֹ֔אן

ṣōn,

אָכֹ֥ל

’ā·ḵōl

､ בָּשָׂ֖ר

bā·śār

meat ､

וְשָׁת֣וֹת

wə·šā·ṯō·wṯ

– יָ֑יִן

yā·yin;

wine –

אָכ֣וֹל

’ā·ḵō·wl

– וְשָׁת֔וֹ

wə·šā·ṯōw,

and drink –

כִּ֥י

kî

מָחָ֖ר

mā·ḥār

. נָמֽוּת׃

nā·mūṯ.

we die .

וְנִגְלָ֥ה

wə·niḡ·lāh

And it was revealed

בְאָזְנָ֖י

ḇə·’ā·zə·nāy

יְהוָ֣ה

Yah·weh

､ צְבָא֑וֹת

ṣə·ḇā·’ō·wṯ;

of hosts ､

אִם־

’im-

יְ֠כֻפַּר

yə·ḵup·par

there will be atonement for

הֶעָוֺ֨ן

he·‘ā·wōn

הַזֶּ֤ה

haz·zeh

לָכֶם֙

lā·ḵem

עַד־

‘aḏ-

､ תְּמֻת֔וּן

tə·mu·ṯūn,

אָמַ֛ר

’ā·mar

אֲדֹנָ֥י

’ă·ḏō·nāy

the Lord

יְהוִ֖ה

Yah·weh

. צְבָאֽוֹת׃

ṣə·ḇā·’ō·wṯ.

of hosts .

､ הַסֹּכֵ֣ן

הַזֶּ֔ה

עַל־

‘al-

to

､ שֶׁבְנָ֖א

šeḇ·nā

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

’ă·šer

who [is]

עַל־

‘al-

､ הַבָּֽיִת׃

hab·bā·yiṯ.

the house ､

מַה־

mah-

לְּךָ֥

lə·ḵā

؟ פֹה֙

וּמִ֣י

and whom

לְךָ֣

lə·ḵā

､ פֹ֔ה

p̄ōh,

here ､

כִּֽי־

kî-

חָצַ֧בְתָּ

ḥā·ṣaḇ·tā

לְּךָ֛

lə·ḵā

､ פֹּ֖ה

here ､

קָ֑בֶר

qā·ḇer;

חֹצְבִ֤י

ḥō·ṣə·ḇî

[As] he who hews himself

､ מָרוֹם֙

mā·rō·wm

on high ､

קִבְר֔וֹ

qiḇ·rōw,

חֹקְקִ֥י

ḥō·qə·qî

؟ בַסֶּ֖לַע

ḇas·se·la‘

in a rock ؟

מִשְׁכָּ֥ן

miš·kān

. לֽוֹ׃

lōw.

､ הִנֵּ֤ה

hin·nêh

יְהוָה֙

Yah·weh

מְטַלְטֶלְךָ֔

mə·ṭal·ṭel·ḵā,

will throw you away

､ טַלְטֵלָ֖ה

ṭal·ṭê·lāh

גָּ֑בֶר

gā·ḇer;

וְעֹטְךָ֖

wə·‘ō·ṭə·ḵā

and will seize you

. עָטֹֽה׃

‘ā·ṭōh.

צָנ֤וֹף

ṣā·nō·wp̄

יִצְנָפְךָ֙

yiṣ·nā·p̄ə·ḵā

He will violently turn

צְנֵפָ֔ה

ṣə·nê·p̄āh,

כַּדּ֕וּר

kad·dūr

אֶל־

’el-

– אֶ֖רֶץ

’e·reṣ

רַחֲבַ֣ת

ra·ḥă·ḇaṯ

יָדָ֑יִם

yā·ḏā·yim;

שָׁ֣מָּה

šām·māh

､ תָמ֗וּת

ṯā·mūṯ,

you shall die ､

וְשָׁ֙מָּה֙

wə·šām·māh

מַרְכְּב֣וֹת

mar·kə·ḇō·wṯ

כְּבוֹדֶ֔ךָ

kə·ḇō·w·ḏe·ḵā,

קְל֖וֹן

qə·lō·wn

[Shall be] the shame

בֵּ֥ית

bêṯ

. אֲדֹנֶֽיךָ׃

’ă·ḏō·ne·ḵā.

of your master .

וַהֲדַפְתִּ֖יךָ

wa·hă·ḏap̄·tî·ḵā

So I will drive you

､ מִמַּצָּבֶ֑ךָ

mim·maṣ·ṣā·ḇe·ḵā;

out of your office ､

וּמִמַּעֲמָֽדְךָ֖

ū·mim·ma·‘ă·mā·ḏə·ḵā

and from your position

. יֶהֶרְסֶֽךָ׃

ye·her·se·ḵā.

he will pull you down .

וְהָיָ֖ה

wə·hā·yāh

And it shall be

､ בַּיּ֣וֹם

bay·yō·wm

in day ､

הַה֑וּא

ha·hū;

וְקָרָ֣אתִי

wə·qā·rā·ṯî

I will call

לְעַבְדִּ֔י

lə·‘aḇ·dî,

לְאֶלְיָקִ֖ים

lə·’el·yā·qîm

בֶּן־

ben-

､ חִלְקִיָּֽהוּ׃

ḥil·qî·yā·hū.

of Hilkiah ､

וְהִלְבַּשְׁתִּ֣יו

wə·hil·baš·tîw

and I will clothe him

､ כֻּתָּנְתֶּ֗ךָ

kut·tā·nə·te·ḵā,

with your robe ､

､ וְאַבְנֵֽטְךָ֙

wə·’aḇ·nê·ṭə·ḵā

and with your sash ､

אֲחַזְּקֶ֔נּוּ

’ă·ḥaz·zə·qen·nū,

וּמֶֽמְשֶׁלְתְּךָ֖‪‬

ū·mem·šel·tə·ḵā

and your responsibility

אֶתֵּ֣ן

’et·tên

I will commit

– בְּיָד֑וֹ

bə·yā·ḏōw;

into his hand –

וְהָיָ֥ה

wə·hā·yāh

and He shall be

לְאָ֛ב

lə·’āḇ

לְיוֹשֵׁ֥ב

lə·yō·wō·šêḇ

to the inhabitants

､ יְרוּשָׁלִַ֖ם

yə·rū·šā·lim

of Jerusalem ､

וּלְבֵ֥ית

ū·lə·ḇêṯ

and to the house

. יְהוּדָֽה׃

yə·hū·ḏāh.

of Judah .

וְנָתַתִּ֛י

wə·nā·ṯat·tî

And I will lay

מַפְתֵּ֥חַ

map̄·tê·aḥ

the key

בֵּית־

bêṯ-

of the house

דָּוִ֖ד

dā·wiḏ

עַל־

‘al-

on

– שִׁכְמ֑וֹ

šiḵ·mōw;

his shoulder –

､ וּפָתַח֙

ū·p̄ā·ṯaḥ

so he shall open ､

וְאֵ֣ין

wə·’ên

and no one

– סֹגֵ֔ר

sō·ḡêr,

､ וְסָגַ֖ר

wə·sā·ḡar

and he shall shut ､

וְאֵ֥ין

wə·’ên

and no one

. פֹּתֵֽחַ׃

pō·ṯê·aḥ.

וּתְקַעְתִּ֥יו

ū·ṯə·qa‘·tîw

And I will fasten him

יָתֵ֖ד

yā·ṯêḏ

[as] a peg

– בְּמָק֣וֹם

bə·mā·qō·wm

in a place –

נֶאֱמָ֑ן

ne·’ĕ·mān;

וְהָיָ֛ה

wə·hā·yāh

and he will become

לְכִסֵּ֥א

lə·ḵis·sê

כָב֖וֹד

ḵā·ḇō·wḏ

לְבֵ֥ית

lə·ḇêṯ

. אָבִֽיו׃

’ā·ḇîw.

of his father .

וְתָל֨וּ

wə·ṯā·lū

And they will hang

עָלָ֜יו

‘ā·lāw

on him

כֹּ֣ל ׀

kōl

כְּב֣וֹד

kə·ḇō·wḏ

､ בֵּית־

bêṯ-

of house ､

אָבִ֗יו

’ā·ḇîw,

הַצֶּֽאֱצָאִים֙

haṣ·ṣe·’ĕ·ṣā·’îm

､ וְהַצְּפִע֔וֹת

wə·haṣ·ṣə·p̄i·‘ō·wṯ,

and the posterity ､

כֹּ֖ל

kōl

כְּלֵ֣י

kə·lê

､ הַקָּטָ֑ן

haq·qā·ṭān;

of small quantity ､

מִכְּלֵי֙

mik·kə·lê

､ הָֽאַגָּנ֔וֹת

hā·’ag·gā·nō·wṯ,

the cups ､

וְעַ֖ד

wə·‘aḏ

and to

כָּל־

kāl-

כְּלֵ֥י

kə·lê

. הַנְּבָלִֽים׃

han·nə·ḇā·lîm.

､ בַּיּ֣וֹם

bay·yō·wm

In day ､

הַה֗וּא

ha·hū,

נְאֻם֙

nə·’um

יְהוָ֣ה

Yah·weh

､ צְבָא֔וֹת

ṣə·ḇā·’ō·wṯ,

of hosts ､

､ תָּמוּשׁ֙

tā·mūš

will be removed ､

הַיָּתֵ֔ד

hay·yā·ṯêḏ,

the peg

הַתְּקוּעָ֖ה

hat·tə·qū·‘āh

that is fastened

בְּמָק֣וֹם

bə·mā·qō·wm

in the place

נֶאֱמָ֑ן

ne·’ĕ·mān;

､ וְנִגְדְּעָ֣ה

wə·niḡ·də·‘āh

and be cut down ､

– וְנָפְלָ֗ה

wə·nā·p̄ə·lāh,

and fall –

– וְנִכְרַת֙

wə·niḵ·raṯ

and will be cut off –

הַמַּשָּׂ֣א

ham·maś·śā

אֲשֶׁר־

’ă·šer-

עָלֶ֔יהָ

‘ā·le·hā,

on it

כִּ֥י

kî

יְהוָ֖ה

Yah·weh

. דִּבֵּֽר׃
