הַחֲרִ֤ישׁוּ

ha·ḥă·rî·šū

אֵלַי֙

’ê·lay

– אִיִּ֔ים

’î·yîm,

וּלְאֻמִּ֖ים

ū·lə·’um·mîm

and the people

יַחֲלִ֣יפוּ

ya·ḥă·lî·p̄ū

– כֹ֑חַ

ḵō·aḥ;

[their] strength –

– יִגְּשׁוּ֙

yig·gə·šū

let them come near –

אָ֣ז

’āz

– יְדַבֵּ֔רוּ

yə·ḏab·bê·rū,

let them speak –

יַחְדָּ֖ו

yaḥ·dāw

לַמִּשְׁפָּ֥ט

lam·miš·pāṭ

. נִקְרָֽבָה׃

niq·rā·ḇāh.

let us come near .

מִ֤י

mî

הֵעִיר֙

hê·‘îr

､ מִמִּזְרָ֔ח

mim·miz·rāḥ,

one from the east ､

צֶ֖דֶק

ṣe·ḏeq

who in righteousness

יִקְרָאֵ֣הוּ

yiq·rā·’ê·hū

､ לְרַגְל֑וֹ

lə·raḡ·lōw;

to his feet ､

יִתֵּ֨ן

yit·tên

לְפָנָ֤יו

lə·p̄ā·nāw

גּוֹיִם֙

gō·w·yim

؟ וּמְלָכִ֣ים

ū·mə·lā·ḵîm

and over kings ؟

יַ֔רְדְּ

yard,

made [him] rule

יִתֵּ֤ן

yit·tên

who gave [them]

כֶּֽעָפָר֙

ke·‘ā·p̄ār

as the dust

､ חַרְבּ֔וֹ

ḥar·bōw,

[to] his sword ､

כְּקַ֥שׁ

kə·qaš

נִדָּ֖ף

nid·dāp̄

. קַשְׁתּֽוֹ׃

qaš·tōw.

to His bow .

יִרְדְּפֵ֖ם

yir·də·p̄êm

Who pursued them

יַעֲב֣וֹר

ya·‘ă·ḇō·wr

[and] passed

– שָׁל֑וֹם

šā·lō·wm;

אֹ֥רַח

’ō·raḥ

by the way

בְּרַגְלָ֖יו

bə·raḡ·lāw

לֹ֥א

lō

not

. יָבֽוֹא׃

yā·ḇō·w.

[that] he had gone .

מִֽי־

פָעַ֣ל

וְעָשָׂ֔ה

wə·‘ā·śāh,

and done [it]

קֹרֵ֥א

הַדֹּר֖וֹת

had·dō·rō·wṯ

the generations

؟ מֵרֹ֑אשׁ

from the beginning ؟

אֲנִ֤י

I [am]

､ יְהוָה֙

､ רִאשׁ֔וֹן

the first ､

וְאֶת־

wə·’eṯ-

and with

– אַחֲרֹנִ֖ים

’a·ḥă·rō·nîm

the last –

אֲנִי־

’ă·nî-

I [am]

. הֽוּא׃

רָא֤וּ

Saw [it]

אִיִּים֙

’î·yîm

– וְיִירָ֔אוּ

wə·yî·rā·’ū,

and feared –

קְצ֥וֹת

qə·ṣō·wṯ

the ends

הָאָ֖רֶץ

hā·’ā·reṣ

of the earth

､ יֶחֱרָ֑דוּ

ye·ḥĕ·rā·ḏū;

were afraid ､

､ קָרְב֖וּ

qā·rə·ḇū

they drew near ､

. וַיֶּאֱתָיֽוּן׃

way·ye·’ĕ·ṯā·yūn.

and came .

אִ֥ישׁ

’îš

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

– רֵעֵ֖הוּ

rê·‘ê·hū

his neighbor –

יַעְזֹ֑רוּ

ya‘·zō·rū;

､ וּלְאָחִ֖יו

ū·lə·’ā·ḥîw

and to his brother ､

יֹאמַ֥ר

yō·mar

. חֲזָֽק׃

ḥă·zāq.

Be of good courage .

וַיְחַזֵּ֤ק

way·ḥaz·zêq

חָרָשׁ֙

ḥā·rāš

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

､ צֹרֵ֔ף

ṣō·rêp̄,

the goldsmith ､

מַחֲלִ֥יק

ma·ḥă·lîq

פַּטִּ֖ישׁ

paṭ·ṭîš

[with] the hammer

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

ה֣וֹלֶם

hō·w·lem

[inspired] him who strikes

､ פָּ֑עַם

pā·‘am;

the anvil ､

､ אֹמֵ֤ר

’ō·mêr

､ לַדֶּ֙בֶק֙

lad·de·ḇeq

for the soldering ､

ט֣וֹב

ṭō·wḇ

ה֔וּא

hū,

it [is]

וַיְחַזְּקֵ֥הוּ

way·ḥaz·zə·qê·hū

and he fastened it

､ בְמַסְמְרִ֖ים

ḇə·mas·mə·rîm

with pegs ､

לֹ֥א

lō

not

. יִמּֽוֹט׃

yim·mō·wṭ.

[That] it might totter .

But you [are] ､

､ יִשְׂרָאֵ֣ל

､ עַבְדִּ֔י

‘aḇ·dî,

My servant ､

יַעֲקֹ֖ב

ya·‘ă·qōḇ

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

’ă·šer

､ בְּחַרְתִּ֑יךָ

bə·ḥar·tî·ḵā;

I have chosen ､

זֶ֖רַע

ze·ra‘

the descendants

אַבְרָהָ֥ם

’aḇ·rā·hām

. אֹהֲבִֽי׃

’ō·hă·ḇî.

אֲשֶׁ֤ר

’ă·šer

הֶחֱזַקְתִּ֙יךָ֙

he·ḥĕ·zaq·tî·ḵā

[You] I have taken

מִקְצ֣וֹת

miq·ṣō·wṯ

､ הָאָ֔רֶץ

hā·’ā·reṣ,

of the earth ､

וּמֵאֲצִילֶ֖יהָ

ū·mê·’ă·ṣî·le·hā

and from its farthest regions

קְרָאתִ֑יךָ

qə·rā·ṯî·ḵā;

וָאֹ֤מַר

wā·’ō·mar

and said

לְךָ֙

lə·ḵā

to you

– עַבְדִּי־

‘aḇ·dî-

My servant –

אַ֔תָּה

’at·tāh,

בְּחַרְתִּ֖יךָ

bə·ḥar·tî·ḵā

I have chosen you

וְלֹ֥א

wə·lō

and not

. מְאַסְתִּֽיךָ׃

mə·’as·tî·ḵā.

have cast you away .

– אַל־

’al-

Not –

תִּירָא֙

tî·rā

כִּ֣י

kî

עִמְּךָ־

‘im·mə·ḵā-

with you

אָ֔נִי

’ā·nî,

I [am]

אַל־

’al-

not

– תִּשְׁתָּ֖ע

Be dismayed –

כִּֽי־

אֲנִ֣י

’ă·nî

I [am]

. אֱלֹהֶ֑יךָ

’ĕ·lō·he·ḵā;

אִמַּצְתִּ֙יךָ֙

’im·maṣ·tî·ḵā

I will strengthen you

､ אַף־

’ap̄-

Yes ､

עֲזַרְתִּ֔יךָ

‘ă·zar·tî·ḵā,

I will help you

､ אַף־

’ap̄-

Yes ､

תְּמַכְתִּ֖יךָ

tə·maḵ·tî·ḵā

I will uphold you

בִּימִ֥ין

bî·mîn

with right hand

. צִדְקִֽי׃

ṣiḏ·qî.

､ הֵ֤ן

hên

יֵבֹ֙שׁוּ֙

yê·ḇō·šū

shall be ashamed

– וְיִכָּ֣לְמ֔וּ

wə·yik·kā·lə·mū,

and disgraced –

כֹּ֖ל

kōl

הַנֶּחֱרִ֣ים

han·ne·ḥĕ·rîm

those who were incensed

בָּ֑ךְ

bāḵ;

יִֽהְי֥וּ

yih·yū

– כְאַ֛יִן

ḵə·’a·yin

as nothing –

וְיֹאבְד֖וּ

wə·yō·ḇə·ḏū

and shall perish

אַנְשֵׁ֥י

’an·šê

. רִיבֶֽךָ׃

rî·ḇe·ḵā.

strive with you .

תְּבַקְשֵׁם֙

tə·ḇaq·šêm

You shall seek them

וְלֹ֣א

wə·lō

and not

תִמְצָאֵ֔ם

ṯim·ṣā·’êm,

､ אַנְשֵׁ֖י

’an·šê

מַצֻּתֶ֑ךָ

maṣ·ṣu·ṯe·ḵā;

contended with you

יִהְי֥וּ

yih·yū

､ כְאַ֛יִן

ḵə·’a·yin

as nothing ､

וּכְאֶ֖פֶס

ū·ḵə·’e·p̄es

and as a nonexistent thing

אַנְשֵׁ֥י

’an·šê

. מִלְחַמְתֶּֽךָ׃

mil·ḥam·te·ḵā.

war against you .

כִּ֗י

kî,

אֲנִ֛י

’ă·nî

I

יְהוָ֥ה

Yah·weh

אֱלֹהֶ֖יךָ

’ĕ·lō·he·ḵā

מַחֲזִ֣יק

ma·ḥă·zîq

will hold

､ יְמִינֶ֑ךָ

yə·mî·ne·ḵā;

your right hand ､

הָאֹמֵ֥ר

hā·’ō·mêr

לְךָ֛

lə·ḵā

to you

– אַל־

’al-

not –

תִּירָ֖א

אֲנִ֥י

I

. עֲזַרְתִּֽיךָ׃

will help you .

עֲזַרְתִּיךְ֙

､ יְהוָ֔ה

Yah·weh,

､ וְגֹאֲלֵ֖ךְ

wə·ḡō·’ă·lêḵ

and your Redeemer ､

קְד֥וֹשׁ

qə·ḏō·wōš

. יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

yiś·rā·’êl.

､ הִנֵּ֣ה

hin·nêh

שַׂמְתִּ֗יךְ

śam·tîḵ,

I will make you

לְמוֹרַג֙

lə·mō·w·raḡ

into a threshing sledge

חָר֣וּץ

ḥā·rūṣ

חָדָ֔שׁ

ḥā·ḏāš,

בַּ֖עַל

ba·‘al

with

– פִּֽיפִיּ֑וֹת

pî·p̄î·yō·wṯ;

תָּד֤וּשׁ

tā·ḏūš

You shall thresh

､ הָרִים֙

hā·rîm

the mountains ､

､ וְתָדֹ֔ק

wə·ṯā·ḏōq,

and beat [them] small ､

וּגְבָע֖וֹת

ū·ḡə·ḇā·‘ō·wṯ

and the hills

כַּמֹּ֥ץ

kam·mōṣ

. תָּשִֽׂים׃

tā·śîm.

תִּזְרֵם֙

tiz·rêm

You shall winnow them

וְר֣וּחַ

wə·rū·aḥ

and the wind

､ תִּשָּׂאֵ֔ם

tiś·śā·’êm,

shall carry them away ､

וּסְעָרָ֖ה

ū·sə·‘ā·rāh

and the whirlwind

תָּפִ֣יץ

tā·p̄îṣ

אוֹתָ֑ם

’ō·w·ṯām;

וְאַתָּה֙

wə·’at·tāh

and You

תָּגִ֣יל

tā·ḡîl

､ בַּֽיהוָ֔ה

Yah·weh,

in Yahweh ､

בִּקְד֥וֹשׁ

biq·ḏō·wōš

in the Holy one

יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל

yiś·rā·’êl

. תִּתְהַלָּֽל׃

tiṯ·hal·lāl.

[And] glory .

The poor

וְהָאֶבְיוֹנִ֜ים

wə·hā·’eḇ·yō·w·nîm

מְבַקְשִׁ֥ים

mə·ḇaq·šîm

､ מַ֙יִם֙

ma·yim

､ וָאַ֔יִן

wā·’a·yin,

but [there is] none ､

לְשׁוֹנָ֖ם

lə·šō·w·nām

､ בַּצָּמָ֣א

baṣ·ṣā·mā

נָשָׁ֑תָּה

nā·šāt·tāh;

אֲנִ֤י

’ă·nî

I

יְהוָה֙

Yah·weh

אֶעֱנֵ֔ם

’e·‘ĕ·nêm,

אֱלֹהֵ֥י

’ĕ·lō·hê

[I] the God

יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל

yiś·rā·’êl

לֹ֥א

not

. אֶעֶזְבֵֽם׃

’e·‘ez·ḇêm.

will forsake them .

אֶפְתַּ֤ח

’ep̄·taḥ

I will open

עַל־

‘al-

in

､ שְׁפָיִים֙

šə·p̄ā·yîm

desolate heights ､

נְהָר֔וֹת

nə·hā·rō·wṯ,

וּבְת֥וֹךְ

ū·ḇə·ṯō·wḵ

and in the midst

– בְּקָע֖וֹת

bə·qā·‘ō·wṯ

of the valleys –

מַעְיָנ֑וֹת

ma‘·yā·nō·wṯ;

אָשִׂ֤ים

’ā·śîm

I will make

מִדְבָּר֙

miḏ·bār

לַאֲגַם־

la·’ă·ḡam-

､ מַ֔יִם

ma·yim,

of water ､

וְאֶ֥רֶץ

wə·’e·reṣ

and the land

צִיָּ֖ה

ṣî·yāh

לְמוֹצָ֥אֵי

lə·mō·w·ṣā·’ê

. מָֽיִם׃

mā·yim.

of water .

אֶתֵּ֤ן

’et·tên

I will plant

בַּמִּדְבָּר֙

bam·miḏ·bār

in the wilderness

､ אֶ֣רֶז

’e·rez

the cedar ､

､ שִׁטָּ֔ה

šiṭ·ṭāh,

and the acacia tree ､

､ וַהֲדַ֖ס

wa·hă·ḏas

and the myrtle ､

– וְעֵ֣ץ

wə·‘êṣ

and the tree –

שָׁ֑מֶן

šā·men;

אָשִׂ֣ים

’ā·śîm

I will set

בָּעֲרָבָ֗ה

bā·‘ă·rā·ḇāh,

in the desert

､ בְּר֛וֹשׁ

bə·rō·wōš

the cypress tree ､

､ תִּדְהָ֥ר

tiḏ·hār

[and] the pine ､

וּתְאַשּׁ֖וּר

ū·ṯə·’aš·šūr

and the box tree

– יַחְדָּֽו׃

yaḥ·dāw.

לְמַ֧עַן

lə·ma·‘an

､ יִרְא֣וּ

yir·’ū

they may see ､

､ וְיֵדְע֗וּ

wə·yê·ḏə·‘ū,

and know ､

､ וְיָשִׂ֤ימוּ

wə·yā·śî·mū

and consider ､

וְיַשְׂכִּ֙ילוּ֙

wə·yaś·kî·lū

､ יַחְדָּ֔ו

yaḥ·dāw,

כִּ֥י

kî

יַד־

yaḏ-

the hand

יְהוָ֖ה

Yah·weh

עָ֣שְׂתָה

‘ā·śə·ṯāh

､ זֹּ֑את

zōṯ;

this ､

וּקְד֥וֹשׁ

and the Holy one

יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל

. בְּרָאָֽהּ׃

bə·rā·’āh.

has created it .

Let them bring forth ､

and show

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

– תִּקְרֶ֑ינָה

tiq·re·nāh;

will happen –

､ הָרִאשֹׁנ֣וֹת ׀

hā·ri·šō·nō·wṯ

the former things ､

מָ֣ה

māh

הֵ֗נָּה

hên·nāh,

הַגִּ֜ידוּ

hag·gî·ḏū

וְנָשִׂ֤ימָה

wə·nā·śî·māh

that we may consider them

לִבֵּ֙נוּ֙

lib·bê·nū

that we may consider them

וְנֵדְעָ֣ה

wə·nê·ḏə·‘āh

and know

אַחֲרִיתָ֔ן

’a·ḥă·rî·ṯān,

the latter end of them

Or

הַבָּא֖וֹת

hab·bā·’ō·wṯ

. הַשְׁמִיעֻֽנוּ׃

haš·mî·‘u·nū.

declare to us .

הַגִּ֙ידוּ֙

hag·gî·ḏū

הָאֹתִיּ֣וֹת

hā·’ō·ṯî·yō·wṯ

the things that are to come

､ לְאָח֔וֹר

lə·’ā·ḥō·wr,

וְנֵ֣דְעָ֔ה

wə·nê·ḏə·‘āh,

that we may know

כִּ֥י

kî

– אֱלֹהִ֖ים

’ĕ·lō·hîm

gods –

אַתֶּ֑ם

’at·tem;

､ אַף־

’ap̄-

Yes ､

､ תֵּיטִ֣יבוּ

tê·ṭî·ḇū

do good ､

､ וְתָרֵ֔עוּ

wə·ṯā·rê·‘ū,

or do evil ､

､ וְנִשְׁתָּ֖עָה

wə·niš·tā·‘āh

that we may be dismayed ､

[ונרא]

wə·nê·re

-

(וְנִרְאֶ֥ה)

wə·nir·’eh

and see [it]

. יַחְדָּֽו׃

yaḥ·dāw.

､ הֵן־

hên-

אַתֶּ֣ם

’at·tem

､ מֵאַ֔יִן

mê·’a·yin,

וּפָעָלְכֶ֖ם

ū·p̄ā·‘ā·lə·ḵem

and your work [is]

– מֵאָ֑פַע

mê·’ā·p̄a‘;

תּוֹעֵבָ֖ה

tō·w·‘ê·ḇāh

[is] an abomination

יִבְחַ֥ר

yiḇ·ḥar

[He who] chooses

. בָּכֶֽם׃

bā·ḵem.

הַעִיר֤וֹתִי

ha·‘î·rō·w·ṯî

I have raised up one

､ מִצָּפוֹן֙

miṣ·ṣā·p̄ō·wn

from the north ､

– וַיַּ֔את

way·yaṯ,

and he shall come –

מִמִּזְרַח־

mim·miz·raḥ-

from the rising

שֶׁ֖מֶשׁ

še·meš

of the sun

יִקְרָ֣א

yiq·rā

– בִשְׁמִ֑י

ḇiš·mî;

on My name –

וְיָבֹ֤א

wə·yā·ḇō

and he shall come

סְגָנִים֙

sə·ḡā·nîm

against princes

כְּמוֹ־

kə·mōw-

､ חֹ֔מֶר

ḥō·mer,

וּכְמ֥וֹ

ū·ḵə·mōw

and as

יוֹצֵ֖ר

yō·w·ṣêr

יִרְמָס־

yir·mās-

. טִֽיט׃

ṭîṭ.

מִֽי־

mî-

הִגִּ֤יד

hig·gîḏ

､ מֵרֹאשׁ֙

mê·rōš

from the beginning ､

؟ וְנֵדָ֔עָה

wə·nê·ḏā·‘āh,

that we may know ؟

､ וּמִלְּפָנִ֖ים

ū·mil·lə·p̄ā·nîm

and former times ､

､ וְנֹאמַ֣ר

wə·nō·mar

that we may say ､

؟ צַדִּ֑יק

ṣad·dîq;

[He is] righteous ؟

､ אַ֣ף

’ap̄

אֵין־

’ên-

[there is] no one

､ מַגִּ֗יד

mag·gîḏ,

､ אַ֚ף

’ap̄

אֵ֣ין

’ên

[there is] no one

､ מַשְׁמִ֔יעַ

maš·mî·a‘,

who declares ､

､ אַ֥ף

’ap̄

אֵין־

’ên-

[there is] no one

שֹׁמֵ֖עַ

šō·mê·a‘

. אִמְרֵיכֶֽם׃

’im·rê·ḵem.

רִאשׁ֥וֹן

ri·šō·wn

The first time [I said]

､ לְצִיּ֖וֹן

lə·ṣî·yō·wn

to Zion ､

､ הִנֵּ֣ה

hin·nêh

Look ､

הִנָּ֑ם

hin·nām;

וְלִירוּשָׁלִַ֖ם

wə·lî·rū·šā·lim

and to Jerusalem

מְבַשֵּׂ֥ר

mə·ḇaś·śêr

one who brings good tidings

. אֶתֵּֽן׃

’et·tên.

I will give .

､ וְאֵ֙רֶא֙

wə·’ê·re

For I looked ､

וְאֵ֣ין

wə·’ên

and [there was] no

– אִ֔ישׁ

’îš,

man –

､ וּמֵאֵ֖לֶּה

ū·mê·’êl·leh

and I looked among these ､

וְאֵ֣ין

wə·’ên

but [there was] no

､ יוֹעֵ֑ץ

yō·w·‘êṣ;

וְאֶשְׁאָלֵ֖ם

wə·’eš·’ā·lêm

and who when I asked of them

וְיָשִׁ֥יבוּ

wə·yā·šî·ḇū

and could answer

. דָבָֽר׃

ḏā·ḇār.

a word .

､ הֵ֣ן

hên

כֻּלָּ֔ם

kul·lām,

– אָ֥וֶן

’ā·wen

､ אֶ֖פֶס

’e·p̄es

מַעֲשֵׂיהֶ֑ם

ma·‘ă·śê·hem;

their works [are]

וָתֹ֖הוּ

wā·ṯō·hū

. נִסְכֵּיהֶֽם׃
