וְעַתָּ֞ה

wə·‘at·tāh

But now

כֹּֽה־

kōh-

אָמַ֤ר

’ā·mar

יְהוָה֙

Yah·weh

בֹּרַאֲךָ֣

bō·ra·’ă·ḵā

who created you

､ יַעֲקֹ֔ב

ya·‘ă·qōḇ,

וְיֹצֶרְךָ֖

wə·yō·ṣer·ḵā

and He who formed you

､ יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל

yiś·rā·’êl;

– אַל־

’al-

not –

תִּירָא֙

tî·rā

כִּ֣י

kî

גְאַלְתִּ֔יךָ

ḡə·’al·tî·ḵā,

I have redeemed you

קָרָ֥אתִי

qā·rā·ṯî

I have called [you]

– בְשִׁמְךָ֖

ḇə·šim·ḵā

by your name –

לִי־

lî-

. אָֽתָּה׃

’āt·tāh.

כִּֽי־

kî-

תַעֲבֹ֤ר

ṯa·‘ă·ḇōr

､ בַּמַּ֙יִם֙

bam·ma·yim

through the waters ､

אִתְּךָ־

’it·tə·ḵā-

with you

אָ֔נִי

’ā·nî,

I [will be]

､ וּבַנְּהָר֖וֹת

ū·ḇan·nə·hā·rō·wṯ

and through the rivers ､

לֹ֣א

lō

not

יִשְׁטְפ֑וּךָ

yiš·ṭə·p̄ū·ḵā;

they shall overflow you

כִּֽי־

kî-

תֵלֵ֤ךְ

ṯê·lêḵ

בְּמוֹ־

bə·mōw-

､ אֵשׁ֙

’êš

the fire ､

לֹ֣א

lō

not

– תִכָּוֶ֔ה

ṯik·kā·weh,

you shall be burned –

וְלֶהָבָ֖ה

wə·le·hā·ḇāh

and the flame

לֹ֥א

lō

תִבְעַר־

ṯiḇ·‘ar-

. בָּֽךְ׃

bāḵ.

כִּ֗י

kî,

אֲנִי֙

’ă·nî

I [am]

יְהוָ֣ה

Yah·weh

､ אֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ

’ĕ·lō·he·ḵā,

קְד֥וֹשׁ

qə·ḏō·wōš

､ יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל

yiś·rā·’êl

of Israel ､

– מוֹשִׁיעֶ֑ךָ

mō·wō·šî·‘e·ḵā;

your Savior –

נָתַ֤תִּי

nā·ṯat·tî

､ כָפְרְךָ֙

ḵā·p̄ə·rə·ḵā

for your ransom ､

מִצְרַ֔יִם

miṣ·ra·yim,

כּ֥וּשׁ

kūš

וּסְבָ֖א

ū·sə·ḇā

and Seba

. תַּחְתֶּֽיךָ׃

taḥ·te·ḵā.

in your place .

מֵאֲשֶׁ֨ר

mê·’ă·šer

יָקַ֧רְתָּ

yā·qar·tā

you were precious

､ בְעֵינַ֛י

ḇə·‘ê·nay

in My sight ､

､ נִכְבַּ֖דְתָּ

niḵ·baḏ·tā

You have been honored ､

וַאֲנִ֣י

wa·’ă·nî

and I

אֲהַבְתִּ֑יךָ

’ă·haḇ·tî·ḵā;

וְאֶתֵּ֤ן

wə·’et·tên

therefore I will give

אָדָם֙

’ā·ḏām

תַּחְתֶּ֔יךָ

taḥ·te·ḵā,

וּלְאֻמִּ֖ים

ū·lə·’um·mîm

תַּ֥חַת

ta·ḥaṯ

. נַפְשֶֽׁךָ׃

nap̄·še·ḵā.

– אַל־

’al-

Not –

תִּירָ֖א

tî·rā

כִּ֣י

kî

אִתְּךָ־

’it·tə·ḵā-

with you

אָ֑נִי

’ā·nî;

I [am]

､ מִמִּזְרָח֙

mim·miz·rāḥ

from the east ､

אָבִ֣יא

’ā·ḇî

I will bring

זַרְעֶ֔ךָ

zar·‘e·ḵā,

your descendants

– וּמִֽמַּעֲרָ֖ב

ū·mim·ma·‘ă·rāḇ

and from the west –

. אֲקַבְּצֶֽךָּ׃

’ă·qab·bə·ṣe·kā.

אֹמַ֤ר

’ō·mar

I will say

､ לַצָּפוֹן֙

laṣ·ṣā·p̄ō·wn

to the north ､

– תֵּ֔נִי

tê·nî,

Give them up –

､ וּלְתֵימָ֖ן

ū·lə·ṯê·mān

and to the south ､

אַל־

’al-

not

תִּכְלָ֑אִי

tiḵ·lā·’î;

do keep them back

הָבִ֤יאִי

hā·ḇî·’î

בָנַי֙

ḇā·nay

､ מֵרָח֔וֹק

mê·rā·ḥō·wq,

וּבְנוֹתַ֖י

ū·ḇə·nō·w·ṯay

and My daughters

מִקְצֵ֥ה

miq·ṣêh

– הָאָֽרֶץ׃

hā·’ā·reṣ.

of the earth –

כֹּ֚ל

kōl

הַנִּקְרָ֣א

han·niq·rā

､ בִשְׁמִ֔י

ḇiš·mî,

by My name ､

､ וְלִכְבוֹדִ֖י

wə·liḵ·ḇō·w·ḏî

for My glory ､

בְּרָאתִ֑יו

bə·rā·ṯîw;

Whom I have created

יְצַרְתִּ֖יו

yə·ṣar·tîw

I have formed him

､ אַף־

’ap̄-

yes ､

. עֲשִׂיתִֽיו׃

‘ă·śî·ṯîw.

I have made him .

הוֹצִ֥יא

hō·w·ṣî

עַם־

‘am-

עִוֵּ֖ר

‘iw·wêr

､ וְעֵינַ֣יִם

wə·‘ê·na·yim

and eyes ､

יֵ֑שׁ

yêš;

וְחֵרְשִׁ֖ים

wə·ḥê·rə·šîm

and the deaf

וְאָזְנַ֥יִם

wə·’ā·zə·na·yim

and ears

. לָֽמוֹ׃

lā·mōw.

כָּֽל־

kāl-

הַגּוֹיִ֞ם

hag·gō·w·yim

נִקְבְּצ֣וּ

niq·bə·ṣū

let be gathered

､ יַחְדָּ֗ו

yaḥ·dāw,

. וְיֵאָֽסְפוּ֙

wə·yê·’ā·sə·p̄ū

and let be assembled .

לְאֻמִּ֔ים

lə·’um·mîm,

מִ֤י

mî

בָהֶם֙

ḇā·hem

יַגִּ֣יד

yag·gîḏ

､ זֹ֔את

zōṯ,

this ､

؟ וְרִֽאשֹׁנ֖וֹת

wə·ri·šō·nō·wṯ

and former things ؟

יַשְׁמִיעֻ֑נוּ

yaš·mî·‘u·nū;

יִתְּנ֤וּ

yit·tə·nū

let them bring out

､ עֵֽדֵיהֶם֙

‘ê·ḏê·hem

their witnesses ､

､ וְיִצְדָּ֔קוּ

wə·yiṣ·dā·qū,

that they may be justified ､

､ וְיִשְׁמְע֖וּ

wə·yiš·mə·‘ū

Or let them hear ､

､ וְיֹאמְר֥וּ

wə·yō·mə·rū

and say ､

. אֱמֶֽת׃

’ĕ·meṯ.

[it is] truth .

אַתֶּ֤ם

’at·tem

､ עֵדַי֙

‘ê·ḏay

My witnesses ､

נְאֻם־

nə·’um-

､ יְהוָ֔ה

Yah·weh,

וְעַבְדִּ֖י

wə·‘aḇ·dî

and My servant

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

’ă·šer

､ בָּחָ֑רְתִּי

bā·ḥā·rə·tî;

I have chosen ､

לְמַ֣עַן

lə·ma·‘an

תֵּ֠דְעוּ

tê·ḏə·‘ū

וְתַאֲמִ֨ינוּ

wə·ṯa·’ă·mî·nū

לִ֤י

lî

Me

וְתָבִ֙ינוּ֙

wə·ṯā·ḇî·nū

כִּֽי־

kî-

אֲנִ֣י

’ă·nî

I [am]

– ה֔וּא

hū,

He –

לְפָנַי֙

lə·p̄ā·nay

לֹא־

lō-

no

､ נ֣וֹצַר

nō·w·ṣar

there was formed ､

אֵ֔ל

’êl,

וְאַחֲרַ֖י

wə·’a·ḥă·ray

and after Me

לֹ֥א

lō

. יִהְיֶֽה׃

yih·yeh.

shall there be .

אָנֹכִ֥י

’ā·nō·ḵî

I

､ אָנֹכִ֖י

’ā·nō·ḵî

[even] I [am] ､

– יְהוָ֑ה

Yah·weh;

וְאֵ֥ין

wə·’ên

and [there is] no

מִבַּלְעָדַ֖י

mib·bal·‘ā·ḏay

. מוֹשִֽׁיעַ׃

mō·wō·šî·a‘.

אָנֹכִ֞י

’ā·nō·ḵî

I

､ הִגַּ֤דְתִּי

hig·gaḏ·tî

have declared ､

､ וְהוֹשַׁ֙עְתִּי֙

wə·hō·wō·ša‘·tî

and saved ､

､ וְהִשְׁמַ֔עְתִּי

wə·hiš·ma‘·tî,

and I have proclaimed ､

וְאֵ֥ין

wə·’ên

and [there was] no

בָּכֶ֖ם

bā·ḵem

זָ֑ר

zār;

וְאַתֶּ֥ם

wə·’at·tem

therefore you [are]

､ עֵדַ֛י

‘ê·ḏay

My witnesses ､

נְאֻם־

nə·’um-

､ יְהוָ֖ה

Yah·weh

וַֽאֲנִי־

wa·’ă·nî-

that I [am]

. אֵֽל׃

’êl.

､ גַּם־

gam-

מִיּוֹם֙

mî·yō·wm

before the day [was]

אֲנִ֣י

’ă·nî

I [am]

– ה֔וּא

hū,

He –

וְאֵ֥ין

wə·’ên

and [there is] no one

– מִיָּדִ֖י

mî·yā·ḏî

out of My hand –

מַצִּ֑יל

maṣ·ṣîl;

who can deliver

､ אֶפְעַ֖ל

’ep̄·‘al

I work ､

וּמִ֥י

ū·mî

and who

. יְשִׁיבֶֽנָּה׃

yə·šî·ḇen·nāh.

will reverse it .

The Destruction of Babylon Foretold

כֹּֽה־

אָמַ֧ר

’ā·mar

､ יְהוָ֛ה

Yah·weh

､ גֹּאַלְכֶ֖ם

gō·’al·ḵem

your Redeemer ､

קְד֣וֹשׁ

qə·ḏō·wōš

– יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל

yiś·rā·’êl;

of Israel –

לְמַעַנְכֶ֞ם

lə·ma·‘an·ḵem

שִׁלַּ֣חְתִּי

šil·laḥ·tî

I will send

､ בָבֶ֗לָה

ḇā·ḇe·lāh,

to Babylon ､

וְהוֹרַדְתִּ֤י

wə·hō·w·raḏ·tî

､ בָֽרִיחִים֙

ḇā·rî·ḥîm

as fugitives ､

כֻּלָּ֔ם

kul·lām,

､ וְכַשְׂדִּ֖ים

wə·ḵaś·dîm

and the Chaldeans ､

בָּאֳנִיּ֥וֹת

bā·’o·nî·yō·wṯ

. רִנָּתָֽם׃

rin·nā·ṯām.

אֲנִ֥י

’ă·nî

I [am]

､ יְהוָ֖ה

Yah·weh

､ קְדֽוֹשְׁכֶ֑ם

qə·ḏō·wō·šə·ḵem;

your Holy one ､

בּוֹרֵ֥א

bō·w·rê

､ יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל

yiś·rā·’êl

of Israel ､

. מַלְכְּכֶֽם׃

mal·kə·ḵem.

､ בַּיָּ֖ם

in the sea ､

דָּ֑רֶךְ

dā·reḵ;

– וּבְמַ֥יִם

ū·ḇə·ma·yim

and through the waters –

עַזִּ֖ים

‘az·zîm

. נְתִיבָֽה׃

nə·ṯî·ḇāh.

a path .

הַמּוֹצִ֥יא

ham·mō·w·ṣî

Who brings forth

רֶֽכֶב־

re·ḵeḇ-

､ וָס֖וּס

wā·sūs

and horse ､

חַ֣יִל

ḥa·yil

the army

– וְעִזּ֑וּז

wə·‘iz·zūz;

and the power –

､ יַחְדָּ֤ו

yaḥ·dāw

יִשְׁכְּבוּ֙

yiš·kə·ḇū

they shall lie down

בַּל־

bal-

not

– יָק֔וּמוּ

yā·qū·mū,

they shall rise –

､ דָּעֲכ֖וּ

dā·‘ă·ḵū

they are extinguished ､

כַּפִּשְׁתָּ֥ה

kap·piš·tāh

. כָבֽוּ׃

ḵā·ḇū.

they are quenched .

Deliverance for God's People

אַֽל־

’al-

Not

תִּזְכְּר֖וּ

tiz·kə·rū

､ רִֽאשֹׁנ֑וֹת

ri·šō·nō·wṯ;

the former things ､

וְקַדְמֹנִיּ֖וֹת

wə·qaḏ·mō·nî·yō·wṯ

and the things of old

אַל־

’al-

. תִּתְבֹּנָֽנוּ׃

tiṯ·bō·nā·nū.

הִנְנִ֨י

hin·nî

עֹשֶׂ֤ה

‘ō·śeh

I will do

– חֲדָשָׁה֙

ḥă·ḏā·šāh

a new thing –

עַתָּ֣ה

‘at·tāh

– תִצְמָ֔ח

ṯiṣ·māḥ,

it shall spring forth –

הֲל֖וֹא

hă·lō·w

תֵֽדָע֑וּהָ

ṯê·ḏā·‘ū·hā;

אַ֣ף

’ap̄

אָשִׂ֤ים

’ā·śîm

I will make

､ בַּמִּדְבָּר֙

bam·miḏ·bār

in the wilderness ､

דֶּ֔רֶךְ

de·reḵ,

בִּֽישִׁמ֖וֹן

bî·ši·mō·wn

in the desert

. נְהָרֽוֹת׃

nə·hā·rō·wṯ.

[And] rivers .

תְּכַבְּדֵ֙נִי֙

tə·ḵab·bə·ḏê·nî

Will honor Me

חַיַּ֣ת

ḥay·yaṯ

הַשָּׂדֶ֔ה

haś·śā·ḏeh,

of the field

תַּנִּ֖ים

tan·nîm

וּבְנ֣וֹת

ū·ḇə·nō·wṯ

and

､ יַֽעֲנָ֑ה

ya·‘ă·nāh;

the ostriches ､

כִּֽי־

kî-

נָתַ֨תִּי

nā·ṯat·tî

､ בַמִּדְבָּ֜ר

ḇam·miḏ·bār

in the wilderness ､

מַ֗יִם

ma·yim,

נְהָרוֹת֙

nə·hā·rō·wṯ

[And] rivers

､ בִּֽישִׁימֹ֔ן

bî·šî·mōn,

in the desert ､

לְהַשְׁק֖וֹת

lə·haš·qō·wṯ

､ עַמִּ֥י

‘am·mî

to My people ､

. בְחִירִֽי׃

ḇə·ḥî·rî.

עַם־

‘am-

זוּ֙

zū

יָצַ֣רְתִּי

yā·ṣar·tî

לִ֔י

lî,

תְּהִלָּתִ֖י

tə·hil·lā·ṯî

. יְסַפֵּֽרוּ׃

yə·sap·pê·rū.

they shall declare .

Israel's Unfaithfulness

וְלֹא־

wə·lō-

But not

אֹתִ֥י

’ō·ṯî

קָרָ֖אתָ

qā·rā·ṯā

you have called

– יַֽעֲקֹ֑ב

ya·‘ă·qōḇ;

כִּֽי־

kî-

יָגַ֥עְתָּ

yā·ḡa‘·tā

and you have been weary

בִּ֖י

bî

of Me

. יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

yiś·rā·’êl.

לֹֽא־

lō-

Not

הֵבֵ֤יאתָ

hê·ḇê·ṯā

You have brought

לִּי֙

lî

Me

שֵׂ֣ה

śêh

– עֹלֹתֶ֔יךָ

‘ō·lō·ṯe·ḵā,

your burnt offerings –

. וּזְבָחֶ֖יךָ

ū·zə·ḇā·ḥe·ḵā

and with your sacrifices .

לֹ֣א

lō

כִבַּדְתָּ֑נִי

ḵib·baḏ·tā·nî;

have you honored Me

לֹ֤א

lō

not

הֶעֱבַדְתִּ֙יךָ֙

he·‘ĕ·ḇaḏ·tî·ḵā

I have caused you to serve

､ בְּמִנְחָ֔ה

bə·min·ḥāh,

with grain offerings ､

וְלֹ֥א

wə·lō

הוֹגַעְתִּ֖יךָ

hō·w·ḡa‘·tî·ḵā

. בִּלְבוֹנָֽה׃

bil·ḇō·w·nāh.

with incense .

לֹא־

lō-

קָנִ֨יתָ

qā·nî·ṯā

You have bought

לִּ֤י

lî

Me

､ בַכֶּ֙סֶף֙

ḇak·ke·sep̄

with money ､

קָנֶ֔ה

qā·neh,

וְחֵ֥לֶב

wə·ḥê·leḇ

and with the fat

– זְבָחֶ֖יךָ

zə·ḇā·ḥe·ḵā

of your sacrifices –

לֹ֣א

lō

הִרְוִיתָ֑נִי

hir·wî·ṯā·nî;

have you satisfied Me

אַ֗ךְ

’aḵ,

but

הֶעֱבַדְתַּ֙נִי֙

he·‘ĕ·ḇaḏ·ta·nî

you have burdened Me

､ בְּחַטֹּאותֶ֔יךָ

bə·ḥaṭ·ṭō·w·ṯe·ḵā,

with your sins ､

הוֹגַעְתַּ֖נִי

hō·w·ḡa‘·ta·nî

You have wearied Me

. בַּעֲוֺנֹתֶֽיךָ׃

ba·‘ă·wō·nō·ṯe·ḵā.

with your iniquities .

I

､ אָנֹכִ֥י

’ā·nō·ḵî

[even] I [am] ､

ה֛וּא

מֹחֶ֥ה

mō·ḥeh

פְשָׁעֶ֖יךָ

p̄ə·šā·‘e·ḵā

your transgressions

､ לְמַעֲנִ֑י

lə·ma·‘ă·nî;

for My own sake ､

וְחַטֹּאתֶ֖יךָ

wə·ḥaṭ·ṭō·ṯe·ḵā

לֹ֥א

lō

not

. אֶזְכֹּֽר׃

’ez·kōr.

I will remember .

– הַזְכִּירֵ֕נִי

haz·kî·rê·nî

Put Me in remembrance –

נִשָּׁפְטָ֖ה

niš·šā·p̄ə·ṭāh

– יָ֑חַד

yā·ḥaḏ;

סַפֵּ֥ר

sap·pêr

state [your case]

､ אַתָּ֖ה

’at·tāh

You ､

לְמַ֥עַן

lə·ma·‘an

. תִּצְדָּֽק׃

tiṣ·dāq.

you may be acquitted .

אָבִ֥יךָ

’ā·ḇî·ḵā

הָרִאשׁ֖וֹן

hā·ri·šō·wn

､ חָטָ֑א

ḥā·ṭā;

וּמְלִיצֶ֖יךָ

ū·mə·lî·ṣe·ḵā

and your mediators

פָּ֥שְׁעוּ

pā·šə·‘ū

have transgressed

. בִֽי׃

ḇî.

וַאֲחַלֵּ֖ל

wa·’ă·ḥal·lêl

Therefore I will profane

שָׂ֣רֵי

śā·rê

､ קֹ֑דֶשׁ

qō·ḏeš;

of the sanctuary ､

וְאֶתְּנָ֤ה

wə·’et·tə·nāh

and I will give

､ לַחֵ֙רֶם֙

la·ḥê·rem

to the curse ､

יַעֲקֹ֔ב

ya·‘ă·qōḇ,

וְיִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל

wə·yiś·rā·’êl

. לְגִדּוּפִֽים׃

lə·ḡid·dū·p̄îm.

to reproaches .
