The Year of the Lord's Favor

ר֛וּחַ

אֲדֹנָ֥י

’ă·ḏō·nāy

of the Lord

יְהוִ֖ה

Yah·weh

עָלָ֑י

‘ā·lāy;

[is] upon Me

יַ֡עַן

ya·‘an

מָשַׁח֩

mā·šaḥ

יְהוָ֨ה

Yah·weh

אֹתִ֜י

’ō·ṯî

Me

לְבַשֵּׂ֣ר

lə·ḇaś·śêr

to preach good tidings

– עֲנָוִ֗ים

‘ă·nā·wîm,

to the poor –

שְׁלָחַ֙נִי֙

šə·lā·ḥa·nî

He has sent He

לַחֲבֹ֣שׁ

la·ḥă·ḇōš

לְנִשְׁבְּרֵי־

lə·niš·bə·rê-

the brokenhearted

､ לֵ֔ב

lêḇ,

the brokenhearted ､

לִקְרֹ֤א

liq·rō

､ לִשְׁבוּיִם֙

liš·ḇū·yim

to the captives ､

דְּר֔וֹר

də·rō·wr,

– וְלַאֲסוּרִ֖ים

wə·la·’ă·sū·rîm

and to [those who are] bound –

פְּקַח־

pə·qaḥ-

-

. קֽוֹחַ׃

qō·w·aḥ.

the opening of the prison .

לִקְרֹ֤א

liq·rō

שְׁנַת־

šə·naṯ-

the year

רָצוֹן֙

rā·ṣō·wn

､ לַֽיהוָ֔ה

Yah·weh,

of Yahweh ､

וְי֥וֹם

wə·yō·wm

and the day

נָקָ֖ם

nā·qām

– לֵאלֹהֵ֑ינוּ

lê·lō·hê·nū;

of our God –

לְנַחֵ֖ם

lə·na·ḥêm

כָּל־

kāl-

– אֲבֵלִֽים׃

’ă·ḇê·lîm.

לָשׂ֣וּם ׀

lā·śūm

לַאֲבֵלֵ֣י

la·’ă·ḇê·lê

､ צִיּ֗וֹן

ṣî·yō·wn,

in Zion ､

לָתֵת֩

lā·ṯêṯ

לָהֶ֨ם

lā·hem

פְּאֵ֜ר

pə·’êr

תַּ֣חַת

ta·ḥaṯ

､ אֵ֗פֶר

’ê·p̄er,

שֶׁ֤מֶן

še·men

the oil

שָׂשׂוֹן֙

śā·śō·wn

of joy

תַּ֣חַת

ta·ḥaṯ

､ אֵ֔בֶל

’ê·ḇel,

מַעֲטֵ֣ה

ma·‘ă·ṭêh

תְהִלָּ֔ה

ṯə·hil·lāh,

תַּ֖חַת

ta·ḥaṯ

ר֣וּחַ

rū·aḥ

– כֵּהָ֑ה

kê·hāh;

of heaviness –

וְקֹרָ֤א

wə·qō·rā

that may be called

לָהֶם֙

lā·hem

אֵילֵ֣י

’ê·lê

､ הַצֶּ֔דֶק

haṣ·ṣe·ḏeq,

of righteousness ､

מַטַּ֥ע

maṭ·ṭa‘

､ יְהוָ֖ה

Yah·weh

of Yahweh ､

. לְהִתְפָּאֵֽר׃

lə·hiṯ·pā·’êr.

that He may be glorified .

וּבָנוּ֙

ū·ḇā·nū

And they shall rebuild

､ חָרְב֣וֹת

ḥā·rə·ḇō·wṯ

the ruins ､

עוֹלָ֔ם

‘ō·w·lām,

､ שֹׁמְמ֥וֹת

šō·mə·mō·wṯ

the desolations ､

רִֽאשֹׁנִ֖ים

ri·šō·nîm

יְקוֹמֵ֑מוּ

yə·qō·w·mê·mū;

they shall raise up

וְחִדְּשׁוּ֙

wə·ḥid·də·šū

and they shall repair

､ עָ֣רֵי

‘ā·rê

the cities ､

חֹ֔רֶב

ḥō·reḇ,

שֹׁמְמ֖וֹת

šō·mə·mō·wṯ

the desolations

דּ֥וֹר

dō·wr

of

. וָדֽוֹר׃

wā·ḏō·wr.

and many generations .

וְעָמְד֣וּ

wə·‘ā·mə·ḏū

And shall stand

זָרִ֔ים

zā·rîm,

וְרָע֖וּ

wə·rā·‘ū

and feed

､ צֹאנְכֶ֑ם

ṣō·nə·ḵem;

your flocks ､

וּבְנֵ֣י

ū·ḇə·nê

and the sons

נֵכָ֔ר

nê·ḵār,

of the foreigner

אִכָּרֵיכֶ֖ם

’ik·kā·rê·ḵem

[Shall be] your plowmen

. וְכֹרְמֵיכֶֽם׃

wə·ḵō·rə·mê·ḵem.

and your vinedressers .

וְאַתֶּ֗ם

wə·’at·tem,

But you

כֹּהֲנֵ֤י

kō·hă·nê

– יְהוָה֙

Yah·weh

of Yahweh –

תִּקָּרֵ֔אוּ

tiq·qā·rê·’ū,

מְשָׁרְתֵ֣י

mə·šā·rə·ṯê

. אֱלֹהֵ֔ינוּ

’ĕ·lō·hê·nū,

of our God .

יֵאָמֵ֖ר

yê·’ā·mêr

They shall call

לָכֶ֑ם

lā·ḵem;

חֵ֤יל

ḥêl

､ גּוֹיִם֙

gō·w·yim

of the Gentiles ､

תֹּאכֵ֔לוּ

tō·ḵê·lū,

וּבִכְבוֹדָ֖ם

ū·ḇiḵ·ḇō·w·ḏām

and in their glory

. תִּתְיַמָּֽרוּ׃

tiṯ·yam·mā·rū.

you shall boast .

תַּ֤חַת

ta·ḥaṯ

בָּשְׁתְּכֶם֙

bā·šə·tə·ḵem

– מִשְׁנֶ֔ה

miš·neh,

[you shall have] double [honor] –

וּכְלִמָּ֖ה

ū·ḵə·lim·māh

and [instead of] confusion

יָרֹ֣נּוּ

yā·rōn·nū

they shall rejoice

. חֶלְקָ֑ם

ḥel·qām;

in their portion .

לָכֵ֤ן

lā·ḵên

בְּאַרְצָם֙

bə·’ar·ṣām

– מִשְׁנֶ֣ה

miš·neh

יִירָ֔שׁוּ

yî·rā·šū,

they shall possess

שִׂמְחַ֥ת

śim·ḥaṯ

עוֹלָ֖ם

‘ō·w·lām

תִּֽהְיֶ֥ה

tih·yeh

. לָהֶֽם׃

lā·hem.

כִּ֣י

kî

אֲנִ֤י

’ă·nî

I

יְהוָה֙

Yah·weh

אֹהֵ֣ב

’ō·hêḇ

､ מִשְׁפָּ֔ט

miš·pāṭ,

שֹׂנֵ֥א

śō·nê

גָזֵ֖ל

ḡā·zêl

– בְּעוֹלָ֑ה

bə·‘ō·w·lāh;

for burnt offering –

וְנָתַתִּ֤י

wə·nā·ṯat·tî

and I will direct

פְעֻלָּתָם֙

p̄ə·‘ul·lā·ṯām

､ בֶּאֱמֶ֔ת

be·’ĕ·meṯ,

in truth ､

וּבְרִ֥ית

ū·ḇə·rîṯ

עוֹלָ֖ם

‘ō·w·lām

אֶכְר֥וֹת

’eḵ·rō·wṯ

will make

. לָהֶֽם׃

lā·hem.

with them .

וְנוֹדַ֤ע

wə·nō·w·ḏa‘

And shall be known

､ בַּגּוֹיִם֙

bag·gō·w·yim

among the Gentiles ､

זַרְעָ֔ם

zar·‘ām,

their descendants

וְצֶאֱצָאֵיהֶ֖ם

wə·ṣe·’ĕ·ṣā·’ê·hem

and their offspring

בְּת֣וֹךְ

bə·ṯō·wḵ

. הָעַמִּ֑ים

hā·‘am·mîm;

the people .

כָּל־

kāl-

רֹֽאֵיהֶם֙

rō·’ê·hem

יַכִּיר֔וּם

yak·kî·rūm,

shall acknowledge them

כִּ֛י

kî

הֵ֥ם

hêm

זֶ֖רַע

ze·ra‘

בֵּרַ֥ךְ

bê·raḵ

[whom] has blessed

. יְהוָֽה׃

Yah·weh.

שׂ֧וֹשׂ

śō·wś

אָשִׂ֣ישׂ

’ā·śîś

I will rejoice

､ בַּֽיהוָ֗ה

Yah·weh

in Yahweh ､

תָּגֵ֤ל

tā·ḡêl

shall be joyful

נַפְשִׁי֙

nap̄·šî

– בֵּֽאלֹהַ֔י

bê·lō·hay,

in my God –

כִּ֤י

kî

הִלְבִּישַׁ֙נִי֙

hil·bî·ša·nî

He has clothed me

בִּגְדֵי־

biḡ·ḏê-

with the garments

､ יֶ֔שַׁע

ye·ša‘,

of salvation ､

מְעִ֥יל

mə·‘îl

with the robe

､ צְדָקָ֖ה

ṣə·ḏā·qāh

of righteousness ､

יְעָטָ֑נִי

yə·‘ā·ṭā·nî;

He has covered me

כֶּֽחָתָן֙

ke·ḥā·ṯān

as a bridegroom

יְכַהֵ֣ן

yə·ḵa·hên

decks [himself]

､ פְּאֵ֔ר

pə·’êr,

with ornaments ､

וְכַכַּלָּ֖ה

wə·ḵak·kal·lāh

and as a bride

תַּעְדֶּ֥ה

ta‘·deh

adorns [herself]

. כֵלֶֽיהָ׃

ḵê·le·hā.

with her jewels .

כִּ֤י

kî

כָאָ֙רֶץ֙

ḵā·’ā·reṣ

as the earth

תּוֹצִ֣יא

tō·w·ṣî

､ צִמְחָ֔הּ

ṣim·ḥāh,

וּכְגַנָּ֖ה

ū·ḵə·ḡan·nāh

and as the garden

זֵרוּעֶ֣יהָ

zê·rū·‘e·hā

the things that are sown in it

– תַצְמִ֑יחַ

ṯaṣ·mî·aḥ;

causes to spring forth –

כֵּ֣ן ׀

kên

so

אֲדֹנָ֣י

’ă·ḏō·nāy

the Lord

יְהוִ֗ה

Yah·weh

יַצְמִ֤יחַ

yaṣ·mî·aḥ

will cause to spring forth

צְדָקָה֙

ṣə·ḏā·qāh

וּתְהִלָּ֔ה

ū·ṯə·hil·lāh,

נֶ֖גֶד

ne·ḡeḏ

כָּל־

kāl-

. הַגּוֹיִֽם׃

hag·gō·w·yim.
