אֵלֶ֙יהָ֙

’ê·le·hā

to her

؟ ע֔וֹד

‘ō·wḏ,

הֲל֛וֹא

hă·lō·w

חָנ֥וֹף

ḥā·nō·wp̄

؟ תֶּחֱנַ֖ף

te·ḥĕ·nap̄

הָאָ֣רֶץ

hā·’ā·reṣ

הַהִ֑יא

ha·hî;

וְאַ֗תְּ

wə·’at,

but you

זָנִית֙

zā·nîṯ

have played the harlot

– רֵעִ֣ים

rê·‘îm

with lovers –

רַבִּ֔ים

rab·bîm,

וְשׁ֥וֹב

wə·šō·wḇ

אֵלַ֖י

’ê·lay

to Me

נְאֻם־

nə·’um-

. יְהֹוָֽה׃

Yah·weh.

שְׂאִֽי־

śə·’î-

עֵינַ֨יִךְ

‘ê·na·yiḵ

עַל־

‘al-

to

､ שְׁפָיִ֜ם

šə·p̄ā·yim

the desolate heights ､

וּרְאִ֗י

ū·rə·’î,

and see

אֵיפֹה֙

’ê·p̄ōh

לֹ֣א

lō

not

[שגלת]

šug·galt

-

(שֻׁכַּ֔בְתְּ)

šuk·kab·bət,

have you lain [with men]

עַל־

‘al-

by

דְּרָכִים֙

də·rā·ḵîm

the road

יָשַׁ֣בְתְּ

yā·šaḇt

לָהֶ֔ם

lā·hem,

כַּעֲרָבִ֖י

ka·‘ă·rā·ḇî

Like an Arabian

– בַּמִּדְבָּ֑ר

bam·miḏ·bār;

in the wilderness –

וַתַּחֲנִ֣יפִי

wat·ta·ḥă·nî·p̄î

and you have polluted

אֶ֔רֶץ

’e·reṣ,

the land

בִּזְנוּתַ֖יִךְ

biz·nū·ṯa·yiḵ

with your harlotries

. וּבְרָעָתֵֽךְ׃

ū·ḇə·rā·‘ā·ṯêḵ.

and your wickedness .

､ וַיִּמָּנְע֣וּ

way·yim·mā·nə·‘ū

Therefore have been withheld ､

רְבִבִ֔ים

rə·ḇi·ḇîm,

– וּמַלְק֖וֹשׁ

ū·mal·qō·wōš

and latter rain –

ל֣וֹא

no

הָיָ֑ה

hā·yāh;

､ וּמֵ֨צַח

ū·mê·ṣaḥ

and a forehead ､

אִשָּׁ֤ה

’iš·šāh

זוֹנָה֙

zō·w·nāh

הָ֣יָה

hā·yāh

לָ֔ךְ

lāḵ,

מֵאַ֖נְתְּ

mê·’ant

. הִכָּלֵֽם׃

hik·kā·lêm.

to be ashamed .

הֲל֣וֹא

hă·lō·w

Will not

מֵעַ֔תָּה

mê·‘at·tāh,

[קראתי]

qā·rā·ṯî

(קָרָ֥את)

qā·rāṯ

לִ֖י

lî

to Me

､ אָבִ֑י

’ā·ḇî;

My father ､

אַלּ֥וּף

’al·lūp̄

נְעֻרַ֖י

nə·‘u·ray

of my youth

؟ אָֽתָּה׃

’āt·tāh.

You [are] ؟

הֲיִנְטֹ֣ר

hă·yin·ṭōr

will He remain angry

؟ לְעוֹלָ֔ם

lə·‘ō·w·lām,

אִם־

’im-

lo

יִשְׁמֹ֖ר

yiš·mōr

will He keep it

؟ לָנֶ֑צַח

lā·ne·ṣaḥ;

to the end ؟

､ הִנֵּ֥ה

hin·nêh

[דברתי]

you have spoken

וַתַּעֲשִׂ֥י

wat·ta·‘ă·śî

and done

הָרָע֖וֹת

wat·tū·ḵāl.

and as you were able .

אֵלַ֗י

to me

בִּימֵי֙

in the days

יֹאשִׁיָּ֣הוּ

yō·šî·yā·hū

､ הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ

ham·me·leḵ,

the king ､

הֲ‍ֽרָאִ֔יתָ

hărā·’î·ṯā,

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

’ă·šer

؟ עָשְׂתָ֖ה

‘ā·śə·ṯāh

מְשֻׁבָ֣ה

mə·šu·ḇāh

יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל

yiś·rā·’êl;

הֹלְכָ֨ה

וַתִּזְנִי־

wat·tiz·nî-

and played the harlot

. שָֽׁם׃

וָאֹמַ֗ר

wā·’ō·mar,

And I said

אַחֲרֵ֨י

’a·ḥă·rê

עֲשׂוֹתָ֧הּ

‘ă·śō·w·ṯāh

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

כָּל־

kāl-

אֵ֛לֶּה

’êl·leh

אֵלַ֥י

’ê·lay

to Me

תָּשׁ֖וּב

tā·šūḇ

. וְלֹא־

wə·lō-

but not .

שָׁ֑בָה

šā·ḇāh;

[ותראה]

wat·tê·reh

-

(וַתֵּ֛רֶא)

wat·tê·re

and saw it

בָּגוֹדָ֥ה

bā·ḡō·w·ḏāh

אֲחוֹתָ֖הּ

’ă·ḥō·w·ṯāh

. יְהוּדָֽה׃

yə·hū·ḏāh.

､ וָאֵ֗רֶא

wā·’ê·re,

And I saw ､

כִּ֤י

kî

עַל־

‘al-

כָּל־

kāl-

אֹדוֹת֙

’ō·ḏō·wṯ

אֲשֶׁ֤ר

’ă·šer

נִֽאֲפָה֙

ni·’ă·p̄āh

had committed adultery

מְשֻׁבָ֣ה

mə·šu·ḇāh

יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל

yiś·rā·’êl,

､ שִׁלַּחְתִּ֕יהָ

šil·laḥ·tî·hā

I had put her away ､

וָאֶתֵּ֛ן

wā·’et·tên

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

סֵ֥פֶר

sê·p̄er

– כְּרִיתֻתֶ֖יהָ

kə·rî·ṯu·ṯe·hā

of divorce –

אֵלֶ֑יהָ

’ê·le·hā;

､ וְלֹ֨א

wə·lō

and yet not ､

יָֽרְאָ֜ה

yā·rə·’āh

בֹּֽגֵדָ֤ה

bō·ḡê·ḏāh

יְהוּדָה֙

yə·hū·ḏāh

אֲחוֹתָ֔הּ

’ă·ḥō·w·ṯāh,

וַתֵּ֖לֶךְ

wat·tê·leḵ

but went

וַתִּ֥זֶן

wat·ti·zen

and played the harlot

גַּם־

gam-

. הִֽיא׃

hî.

וְהָיָה֙

wə·hā·yāh

So it came to pass

מִקֹּ֣ל

miq·qōl

､ זְנוּתָ֔הּ

zə·nū·ṯāh,

her harlotry ､

וַתֶּחֱנַ֖ף

wat·te·ḥĕ·nap̄

that she defiled

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

､ הָאָ֑רֶץ

hā·’ā·reṣ;

the land ､

וַתִּנְאַ֥ף

wat·tin·’ap̄

and committed adultery

אֶת־

’eṯ-

with

הָאֶ֖בֶן

hā·’e·ḇen

וְאֶת־

wə·’eṯ-

and

. הָעֵֽץ׃

hā·‘êṣ.

וְגַם־

wə·ḡam-

And yet

בְּכָל־

bə·ḵāl

זֹ֗את

zōṯ,

לֹא־

lō-

not

שָׁ֨בָה

šā·ḇāh

אֵלַ֜י

’ê·lay

to Me

בָּגוֹדָ֧ה

bā·ḡō·w·ḏāh

אֲחוֹתָ֛הּ

’ă·ḥō·w·ṯāh

יְהוּדָ֖ה

yə·hū·ḏāh

בְּכָל־

bə·ḵāl

with whole

､ לִבָּ֑הּ

lib·bāh;

כִּ֥י

kî

but

אִם־

’im-

and

､ בְּשֶׁ֖קֶר

bə·še·qer

in pretense ､

נְאֻם־

nə·’um-

. יְהוָֽה׃

And said

יְהוָה֙

אֵלַ֔י

’ê·lay,

to me

צִדְּקָ֥ה

ṣid·də·qāh

has shown righteous

נַפְשָׁ֖הּ

nap̄·šāh

מְשֻׁבָ֣ה

mə·šu·ḇāh

יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל

yiś·rā·’êl;

מִבֹּגֵדָ֖ה

mib·bō·ḡê·ḏāh

more than treacherous

. יְהוּדָֽה׃

yə·hū·ḏāh.

הָלֹ֡ךְ

hā·lōḵ

Go

וְקָֽרָאתָ֩

wə·qā·rā·ṯā

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

הַדְּבָרִ֨ים

had·də·ḇā·rîm

הָאֵ֜לֶּה

hā·’êl·leh

､ צָפ֗וֹנָה

ṣā·p̄ō·w·nāh,

toward the north ､

､ וְ֠אָמַרְתָּ

wə·’ā·mar·tā

and say ､

､ שׁ֣וּבָה

šū·ḇāh

מְשֻׁבָ֤ה

mə·šu·ḇāh

､ יִשְׂרָאֵל֙

yiś·rā·’êl

נְאֻם־

nə·’um-

– יְהוָ֔ה

Yah·weh,

לֽוֹא־

lō·w-

not

אַפִּ֥יל

’ap·pîl

I will cause to fall

פָּנַ֖י

pā·nay

בָּכֶ֑ם

bā·ḵem;

on you

כִּֽי־

kî-

､ חָסִ֤יד

ḥā·sîḏ

אֲנִי֙

’ă·nî

I [am]

נְאֻם־

nə·’um-

､ יְהוָ֔ה

Yah·weh,

לֹ֥א

not

אֶטּ֖וֹר

’eṭ·ṭō·wr

I will remain angry

. לְעוֹלָֽם׃

your iniquity ､

כִּ֛י

בַּיהוָ֥ה

פָּשָׁ֑עַתְּ

pā·šā·‘at;

that you have transgressed

וַתְּפַזְּרִ֨י

wat·tə·p̄az·zə·rî

and have scattered

אֶת־

’eṯ-

דְּרָכַ֜יִךְ

לַזָּרִ֗ים

laz·zā·rîm,

to alien deities

תַּ֚חַת

ta·ḥaṯ

כָּל־

kāl-

､ עֵ֣ץ

‘êṣ

tree ､

רַעֲנָ֔ן

ra·‘ă·nān,

､ וּבְקוֹלִ֥י

ū·ḇə·qō·w·lî

and My voice ､

לֹא־

lō-

not

שְׁמַעְתֶּ֖ם

šə·ma‘·tem

you have obeyed

נְאֻם־

nə·’um-

. יְהֹוָֽה׃

Yah·weh.

､ שׁ֣וּבוּ

šū·ḇū

､ בָנִ֤ים

ḇā·nîm

שׁוֹבָבִים֙

šō·w·ḇā·ḇîm

נְאֻם־

nə·’um-

– יְהוָ֔ה

Yah·weh,

כִּ֥י

kî

אָנֹכִ֖י

’ā·nō·ḵî

I

בָּעַ֣לְתִּי

bā·‘al·tî

בָכֶ֑ם

ḇā·ḵem;

to you

וְלָקַחְתִּ֨י

wə·lā·qaḥ·tî

and I will take

אֶתְכֶ֜ם

’eṯ·ḵem

אֶחָ֣ד

’e·ḥāḏ

､ מֵעִ֗יר

mê·‘îr,

from a city ､

וּשְׁנַ֙יִם֙

ū·šə·na·yim

and two

､ מִמִּשְׁפָּחָ֔ה

mim·miš·pā·ḥāh,

from a family ､

וְהֵבֵאתִ֥י

wə·hê·ḇê·ṯî

and I will bring

אֶתְכֶ֖ם

’eṯ·ḵem

– צִיּֽוֹן׃

ṣî·yō·wn.

to Zion –

וְנָתַתִּ֥י

wə·nā·ṯat·tî

and I will give

לָכֶ֛ם

lā·ḵem

רֹעִ֖ים

rō·‘îm

､ כְּלִבִּ֑י

kə·lib·bî;

according to My heart ､

וְרָע֥וּ

wə·rā·‘ū

and who will feed

אֶתְכֶ֖ם

’eṯ·ḵem

דֵּעָ֥ה

dê·‘āh

. וְהַשְׂכֵּֽיל׃

wə·haś·kêl.

and understanding .

､ וְהָיָ֡ה

wə·hā·yāh

And it shall come to pass ､

כִּ֣י

kî

תִרְבּוּ֩

ṯir·bū

you are multiplied

וּפְרִיתֶ֨ם

ū·p̄ə·rî·ṯem

､ בָּאָ֜רֶץ

bā·’ā·reṣ

in the land ､

､ בַּיָּמִ֤ים

bay·yā·mîm

in days ､

הָהֵ֙מָּה֙

hā·hêm·māh

נְאֻם־

nə·’um-

､ יְהוָ֔ה

Yah·weh,

לֹא־

lō-

no

יֹ֣אמְרוּ

yō·mə·rū

that they will say

､ ע֗וֹד

‘ō·wḏ,

more ､

אֲרוֹן֙

’ă·rō·wn

the ark

בְּרִית־

bə·rîṯ-

of the covenant

– יְהוָ֔ה

Yah·weh,

of Yahweh –

וְלֹ֥א

wə·lō

and not

יַעֲלֶ֖ה

ya·‘ă·leh

עַל־

‘al-

to

､ לֵ֑ב

lêḇ;

mind ､

וְלֹ֤א

wə·lō

יִזְכְּרוּ־

yiz·kə·rū-

shall they remember

בוֹ֙

ḇōw

it

וְלֹ֣א

wə·lō

יִפְקֹ֔דוּ

yip̄·qō·ḏū,

shall they visit [it]

וְלֹ֥א

wə·lō

יֵעָשֶׂ֖ה

yê·‘ā·śeh

shall it be made

הַהִ֗יא

ha·hî,

יִקְרְא֤וּ

shall be called

לִירוּשָׁלִַ֙ם֙

כִּסֵּ֣א

kis·sê

– יְהוָ֔ה

Yah·weh,

of Yahweh –

וְנִקְוּ֨וּ

wə·niqw·wū

and shall be gathered

אֵלֶ֧יהָ

’ê·le·hā

to it

כָֽל־

ḵāl

הַגּוֹיִ֛ם

hag·gō·w·yim

לְשֵׁ֥ם

lə·šêm

to the name

､ יְהוָ֖ה

Yah·weh

of Yahweh ､

､ לִירוּשָׁלִָ֑ם

lî·rū·šā·lim;

to Jerusalem ､

וְלֹא־

wə·lō-

and No

יֵלְכ֣וּ

yê·lə·ḵū

shall they follow

ע֔וֹד

‘ō·wḏ,

אַחֲרֵ֕י

’a·ḥă·rê

שְׁרִר֖וּת

šə·ri·rūṯ

לִבָּ֥ם

lib·bām

of their hearts

. הָרָֽע׃

בֵּ֣ית

､ יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל

of Israel ､

וְיָבֹ֤אוּ

wə·yā·ḇō·’ū

and they shall come

יַחְדָּו֙

yaḥ·dāw

מֵאֶ֣רֶץ

mê·’e·reṣ

out of the land

צָפ֔וֹן

ṣā·p̄ō·wn,

of the north

עַל־

‘al-

to

הָאָ֕רֶץ

hā·’ā·reṣ

the land

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

’ă·šer

הִנְחַ֖לְתִּי

hin·ḥal·tî

I have given as an inheritance

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

. אֲבוֹתֵיכֶֽם׃

’ă·ḇō·w·ṯê·ḵem.

to your fathers .

וְאָנֹכִ֣י

wə·’ā·nō·ḵî

But I

､ אָמַ֗רְתִּי

’ā·mar·tî,

said ､

אֵ֚יךְ

’êḵ

אֲשִׁיתֵ֣ךְ

’ă·šî·ṯêḵ

､ בַּבָּנִ֔ים

bab·bā·nîm,

among the sons ､

וְאֶתֶּן־

wə·’et·ten-

and give

לָךְ֙

lāḵ

､ אֶ֣רֶץ

’e·reṣ

a land ､

חֶמְדָּ֔ה

ḥem·dāh,

נַחֲלַ֥ת

na·ḥă·laṯ

צְבִ֖י

ṣə·ḇî

צִבְא֣וֹת

ṣiḇ·’ō·wṯ

؟ גּוֹיִ֑ם

gō·w·yim;

､ וָאֹמַ֗ר

wā·’ō·mar,

and I said ､

– אָבִי֙

’ā·ḇî

My Father –

[תקראו־]

tiq·rə·’ū-

-

(תִּקְרְאִי־)

tiq·rə·’î-

לִ֔י

lî,

Me

וּמֵאַחֲרַ֖י

ū·mê·’a·ḥă·ray

and from Me

לֹ֥א

lō

not

[תשובו]

ṯā·šū·ḇū

-

. (תָשֽׁוּבִי׃)

ṯā·šū·ḇî.

אָכֵ֛ן

’ā·ḵên

בָּגְדָ֥ה

bā·ḡə·ḏāh

treacherously departs

אִשָּׁ֖ה

’iš·šāh

[as] a wife

מֵרֵעָ֑הּ

mê·rê·‘āh;

from her husband

כֵּ֣ן

kên

so

בְּגַדְתֶּ֥ם

bə·ḡaḏ·tem

have you dealt treacherously

בִּ֛י

bî

with Me

בֵּ֥ית

bêṯ

､ יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל

yiś·rā·’êl

of Israel ､

נְאֻם־

nə·’um-

. יְהוָֽה׃

Yah·weh.

ק֚וֹל

qō·wl

עַל־

‘al-

on

､ שְׁפָיִ֣ים

šə·p̄ā·yîm

the desolate heights ､

נִשְׁמָ֔ע

niš·mā‘,

בְּכִ֥י

bə·ḵî

תַחֲנוּנֵ֖י

ṯa·ḥă·nū·nê

[and] supplications

בְּנֵ֣י

bə·nê

of the sons

– יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל

yiś·rā·’êl;

of Israel –

כִּ֤י

kî

הֶעֱוּוּ֙

he·‘ĕw·wū

they have perverted

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

､ דַּרְכָּ֔ם

dar·kām,

שָׁכְח֖וּ

šā·ḵə·ḥū

they have forgotten

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

יְהֹוָ֥ה

Yah·weh

. אֱלֹהֵיהֶֽם׃

’ĕ·lō·hê·hem.

､ שׁ֚וּבוּ

ū·ḇū

And Return you ､

､ בָּנִ֣ים

bā·nîm

שׁוֹבָבִ֔ים

šō·w·ḇā·ḇîm,

אֶרְפָּ֖ה

’er·pāh

[And] I will heal

. מְשׁוּבֹֽתֵיכֶ֑ם

mə·šū·ḇō·ṯê·ḵem;

your backslidings .

הִנְנוּ֙

hin·nū

אָתָ֣נוּ

’ā·ṯā·nū

לָ֔ךְ

lāḵ,

to You

כִּ֥י

kî

אַתָּ֖ה

’at·tāh

יְהֹוָ֥ה

Yah·weh

. אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ׃

’ĕ·lō·hê·nū.

אָכֵ֥ן

’ā·ḵên

לַשֶּׁ֛קֶר

laš·še·qer

in vain [is salvation hoped for]

､ מִגְּבָע֖וֹת

mig·gə·ḇā·‘ō·wṯ

from the hills ､

הָמ֣וֹן

hā·mō·wn

[And from] the multitude

. הָרִ֑ים

hā·rîm;

אָכֵן֙

’ā·ḵên

בַּיהֹוָ֣ה

Yah·weh

אֱלֹהֵ֔ינוּ

’ĕ·lō·hê·nū,

תְּשׁוּעַ֖ת

tə·šū·‘aṯ

[Is] the salvation

. יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

yiś·rā·’êl.

וְהַבֹּ֗שֶׁת

wə·hab·bō·šeṯ,

אָֽכְלָ֛ה

’ā·ḵə·lāh

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

יְגִ֥יעַ

yə·ḡî·a‘

אֲבוֹתֵ֖ינוּ

’ă·ḇō·w·ṯê·nū

– מִנְּעוּרֵ֑ינוּ

min·nə·‘ū·rê·nū;

from our youth –

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

צֹאנָם֙

ṣō·nām

וְאֶת־

wə·’eṯ-

and

､ בְּקָרָ֔ם

bə·qā·rām,

their herds ､

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

בְּנֵיהֶ֖ם

bə·nê·hem

וְאֶת־

wə·’eṯ-

and

. בְּנוֹתֵיהֶֽם׃

bə·nō·w·ṯê·hem.

their daughters .

נִשְׁכְּבָ֣ה

niš·kə·ḇāh

､ בְּבָשְׁתֵּ֗נוּ

bə·ḇā·šə·tê·nū,

in our shame ､

וּֽתְכַסֵּנוּ֮

ū·ṯə·ḵas·sê·nū

and covers us

כְּלִמָּתֵנוּ֒

kə·lim·mā·ṯê·nū

כִּי֩

kî

לַיהוָ֨ה

Yah·weh

､ אֱלֹהֵ֜ינוּ

’ĕ·lō·hê·nū

חָטָ֗אנוּ

ḥā·ṭā·nū,

אֲנַ֙חְנוּ֙

’ă·naḥ·nū

we

wa·’ă·ḇō·w·ṯê·nū,

and our fathers ､

מִנְּעוּרֵ֖ינוּ

min·nə·‘ū·rê·nū

וְעַד־

wə·‘aḏ-

and even to

､ הַיּ֣וֹם

hay·yō·wm

day ､

הַזֶּ֑ה

haz·zeh;

וְלֹ֣א

wə·lō

and not

שָׁמַ֔עְנוּ

šā·ma‘·nū,

בְּק֖וֹל

bə·qō·wl

יְהֹוָ֥ה

Yah·weh

. אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ׃

’ĕ·lō·hê·nū.
