בָּעִ֣יר

הַזֹּ֔את

haz·zōṯ,

יָמ֕וּת

yā·mūṯ

､ בַּחֶ֖רֶב

ba·ḥe·reḇ

by the sword ､

､ בָּרָעָ֣ב

bā·rā·‘āḇ

by famine ､

､ וּבַדָּ֑בֶר

ū·ḇad·dā·ḇer;

and by pestilence ､

וְהַיֹּצֵ֤א

wə·hay·yō·ṣê

but he who goes over

to

הַכַּשְׂדִּים֙

hak·kaś·dîm

[יחיה]

yiḥ·yeh

-

– (וְחָיָ֔ה)

wə·ḥā·yāh,

וְהָיְתָה־

wə·hā·yə·ṯāh-

and shall be

לּ֥וֹ

lōw

to him

נַפְשׁ֛וֹ

nap̄·šōw

､ לְשָׁלָ֖ל

lə·šā·lāl

as a prize ､

. וָחָֽי׃

wā·ḥāy.

and he shall live .

the king

. וּלְכָדָֽהּ׃

and which shall take it .

וַיֹּאמְר֨וּ

הַשָּׂרִ֜ים

the king ､

– י֣וּמַת

let be put to death –

הָאֵ֑לֶּה

כִּ֣י ׀

הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ

the king

צִדְקִיָּ֔הוּ

ṣiḏ·qî·yā·hū,

､ הִנֵּה־

hin·nêh-

Look ､

ה֖וּא

he [is]

– בְּיֶדְכֶ֑ם

bə·yeḏ·ḵem;

in your hand –

כִּֽי־

kî-

אֵ֣ין

הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ

ham·me·leḵ,

the king

יוּכַ֥ל

yū·ḵal

can [do]

אֶתְכֶ֖ם

. דָּבָֽר׃

and they let down

and let them down

יָדֶ֔יךָ

מִתַּ֖חַת

. לַחֲבָלִ֑ים

la·ḥă·ḇā·lîm;

under the ropes .

וַיַּ֥עַשׂ

way·ya·‘aś

And did

יִרְמְיָ֖הוּ

. כֵּֽן׃

so .

וַיִּמְשְׁכ֤וּ

So they pulled up

מִמֶּ֖נִּי

וַיֹּ֤אמֶר

And said

יִרְמְיָ֙הוּ֙

אֶל־

’el-

to

､ צִדְקִיָּ֔הוּ

ṣiḏ·qî·yā·hū,

כִּ֚י

if

אַגִּ֣יד

’ag·gîḏ

I declare [it]

לְךָ֔

lə·ḵā,

to you

הֲל֖וֹא

hă·lō·w

will not

הָמֵ֣ת

hā·mêṯ

؟ תְּמִיתֵ֑נִי

tə·mî·ṯê·nî;

you put me to death ؟

וְכִי֙

wə·ḵî

and if

､ אִיעָ֣צְךָ֔

’î·‘ā·ṣə·ḵā,

I give you advice ､

you will listen

בַּסֵּ֣תֶר

､ לֵאמֹ֑ר

[As] lives ､

､ אֲמִיתֶ֔ךָ

I will put you to death ､

וְאִם־

אֶתֶּנְךָ֗

’et·ten·ḵā,

will I give you

בְּיַד֙

הָאֲנָשִׁ֣ים

of men

הָאֵ֔לֶּה

hā·’êl·leh,

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

’ă·šer

מְבַקְשִׁ֖ים

mə·ḇaq·šîm

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

. נַפְשֶֽׁךָ׃

of Israel –

אִם־

if

יָצֹ֨א

תֵצֵ֜א

ṯê·ṣê

אֶל־

’el-

to

､ שָׂרֵ֤י

śā·rê

מֶֽלֶךְ־

me·leḵ-

the king

בָּבֶל֙

bā·ḇel

､ וְחָיְתָ֣ה

wə·ḥā·yə·ṯāh

then shall live ､

נַפְשֶׁ֔ךָ

nap̄·še·ḵā,

וְהָעִ֣יר

wə·hā·‘îr

and city

הַזֹּ֔את

haz·zōṯ,

לֹ֥א

not

תִשָּׂרֵ֖ף

ṯiś·śā·rêp̄

shall be burned

– בָּאֵ֑שׁ

bā·’êš;

with fire –

､ וְחָיִ֖תָה

wə·ḥā·yi·ṯāh

and shall live ､

אַתָּ֥ה

’at·tāh

– וּבֵיתֶֽךָ׃

ū·ḇê·ṯe·ḵā.

and your house –

וְאִ֣ם

wə·’im

but if

לֹֽא־

lō-

not

תֵצֵ֗א

ṯê·ṣê,

you do surrender

אֶל־

’el-

to

､ שָׂרֵי֙

śā·rê

מֶ֣לֶךְ

me·leḵ

the king

בָּבֶ֔ל

bā·ḇel,

וְנִתְּנָ֞ה

wə·nit·tə·nāh

then shall be given

הָעִ֤יר

hā·‘îr

הַזֹּאת֙

haz·zōṯ

בְּיַ֣ד

bə·yaḏ

､ הַכַּשְׂדִּ֔ים

hak·kaś·dîm,

of the Chaldeans ､

וּשְׂרָפ֖וּהָ

ū·śə·rā·p̄ū·hā

and they shall burn it

､ בָּאֵ֑שׁ

bā·’êš;

with fire ､

וְאַתָּ֖ה

wə·’at·tāh

and you

לֹֽא־

lō-

not

תִמָּלֵ֥ט

ṯim·mā·lêṭ

. מִיָּדָֽם׃

mî·yā·ḏām.

from their hand .

the Chaldeans ､

פֶּֽן־

יִתְּנ֥וּ

､ בְּיָדָ֖ם

into their hand ､

וְהִתְעַלְּלוּ־

wə·hiṯ·‘al·lə·lū-

of Yahweh ､

לַאֲשֶׁ֤ר

אֵלֶ֔יךָ

to you

וְיִ֥יטַב

wə·yî·ṭaḇ

so it shall be well

לְךָ֖

with you

וּתְחִ֥י

. נַפְשֶֽׁךָ׃

וְאִם־

wə·’im-

But if

מָאֵ֥ן

Yah·weh.

､ וְהִנֵּ֣ה

wə·hin·nêh

And behold ､

כָל־

ḵāl

הַנָּשִׁ֗ים

han·nā·šîm,

אֲשֶׁ֤ר

’ă·šer

נִשְׁאֲרוּ֙

niš·’ă·rū

בְּבֵ֣ית

bə·ḇêṯ

מֶֽלֶךְ־

me·leḵ-

the king

יְהוּדָ֔ה

yə·hū·ḏāh,

מוּצָא֕וֹת

mū·ṣā·’ō·wṯ

[shall be] surrendered

אֶל־

’el-

to

､ שָׂרֵ֖י

śā·rê

מֶ֣לֶךְ

me·leḵ

the king

בָּבֶ֑ל

bā·ḇel;

וְהֵ֣נָּה

wə·hên·nāh

and those [women]

､ אֹמְר֗וֹת

’ō·mə·rō·wṯ,

הִסִּית֜וּךָ

his·sî·ṯū·ḵā

have set upon you

וְיָכְל֤וּ

wə·yā·ḵə·lū

לְךָ֙

lə·ḵā

אַנְשֵׁ֣י

’an·šê

שְׁלֹמֶ֔ךָ

šə·lō·me·ḵā,

Your well-being

הָטְבְּע֥וּ

hā·ṭə·bə·‘ū

､ בַבֹּ֛ץ

ḇab·bōṣ

in the mire ､

רַגְלֶ֖ךָ

raḡ·le·ḵā

נָסֹ֥גוּ

nā·sō·ḡū

[And] they have turned away

. אָחֽוֹר׃

’ā·ḥō·wr.

וְאֶת־

wə·’eṯ-

So

כָּל־

kāl-

and all

נָשֶׁ֣יךָ

nā·še·ḵā

וְאֶת־

wə·’eṯ-

and

בָּנֶ֗יךָ

bā·ne·ḵā,

מֽוֹצִאִים֙

mō·w·ṣi·’îm

they shall surrender

אֶל־

’el-

and to

､ הַכַּשְׂדִּ֔ים

hak·kaś·dîm,

the Chaldeans ､

וְאַתָּ֖ה

wə·’at·tāh

לֹא־

lō-

not

תִמָּלֵ֣ט

ṯim·mā·lêṭ

､ מִיָּדָ֑ם

mî·yā·ḏām;

from their hand ､

כִּ֣י

kî

but

בְיַ֤ד

ḇə·yaḏ

by the hand

מֶֽלֶךְ־

me·leḵ-

of the king

､ בָּבֶל֙

bā·ḇel

and Babylon ､

תִּתָּפֵ֔שׂ

tit·tā·p̄êś,

וְאֶת־

wə·’eṯ-

and

הָעִ֥יר

hā·‘îr

הַזֹּ֖את

haz·zōṯ

תִּשְׂרֹ֥ף

tiś·rōp̄

You shall cause to be burned

. בָּאֵֽשׁ׃

bā·’êš.

and with fire .

צִדְקִיָּ֜הוּ

אֶֽל־

’el-

to

､ יִרְמְיָ֗הוּ

yir·mə·yā·hū,

אִ֛ישׁ

’îš

אַל־

’al-

no

יֵדַ֥ע

yê·ḏa‘

､ בַּדְּבָֽרִים־

bad·də·ḇā·rîm-

of words ､

הָאֵ֖לֶּה

hā·’êl·leh

וְלֹ֥א

wə·lō

and not

. תָמֽוּת׃

ṯā·mūṯ.

you shall die .

וְכִֽי־

wə·ḵî-

But if

יִשְׁמְע֣וּ

yiš·mə·‘ū

הַשָּׂרִים֮

haś·śā·rîm

כִּֽי־

kî-

דִבַּ֣רְתִּי

ḏib·bar·tî

אִתָּךְ֒

’it·tāḵ

with you

וּבָ֣אוּ

ū·ḇā·’ū

אֵלֶ֣יךָ

’ê·le·ḵā

to you

וְֽאָמְר֪וּ

wə·’ā·mə·rū

and say

אֵלֶ֟יךָ

’ê·le·ḵā

to you

הַגִּֽידָה־

hag·gî·ḏāh-

נָּ֨א

nā

לָ֜נוּ

lā·nū

to us

מַה־

mah-

דִּבַּ֧רְתָּ

dib·bar·tā

אֶל־

’el-

to

､ הַמֶּ֛לֶךְ

ham·me·leḵ

the king ､

אַל־

’al-

not

תְּכַחֵ֥ד

tə·ḵa·ḥêḏ

do hide [it]

מִמֶּ֖נּוּ

mim·men·nū

וְלֹ֣א

wə·lō

and not

– נְמִיתֶ֑ךָ

nə·mî·ṯe·ḵā;

we will put you to death –

וּמַה־

ū·mah-

and what

דִּבֶּ֥ר

dib·ber

אֵלֶ֖יךָ

’ê·le·ḵā

to you

. הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃

ham·me·leḵ.

the king .

וְאָמַרְתָּ֣

wə·’ā·mar·tā

Then you shall say

אֲלֵיהֶ֔ם

’ă·lê·hem,

מַפִּיל־

map·pîl-

אֲנִ֥י

’ă·nî

I

תְחִנָּתִ֖י

ṯə·ḥin·nā·ṯî

לִפְנֵ֣י

lip̄·nê

､ הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ

ham·me·leḵ;

the king ､

לְבִלְתִּ֧י

lə·ḇil·tî

that he would not

הֲשִׁיבֵ֛נִי

hă·šî·ḇê·nî

､ בֵּ֥ית

bêṯ

to house ､

יְהוֹנָתָ֖ן

yə·hō·w·nā·ṯān

לָמ֥וּת

lā·mūṯ

to die

וַיִּשְׁאֲל֣וּ

אֹת֔וֹ

’ō·ṯōw,

וַיַּגֵּ֤ד

way·yag·gêḏ

and he told

לָהֶם֙

lā·hem

כְּכָל־

kə·ḵāl-

according to all

הַדְּבָרִ֣ים

had·də·ḇā·rîm

הָאֵ֔לֶּה

hā·’êl·leh,

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

’ă·šer

. צִוָּ֖ה

ṣiw·wāh

had commanded .

הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ

ham·me·leḵ;

The king

וַיַּחֲרִ֣שׁוּ

way·ya·ḥă·ri·šū

so they stopped speaking

מִמֶּ֔נּוּ

mim·men·nū,

with him

כִּ֥י

kî

לֹֽא־

lō-

not

נִשְׁמַ֖ע

niš·ma‘

. הַדָּבָֽר׃

had·dā·ḇār.

the conversation .

הַמַּטָּרָ֔ה

of the prison

עַד־

the day

אֲשֶׁר־

’ă·šer-

. נִלְכְּדָ֣ה

nil·kə·ḏāh

יְרוּשָׁלִָ֑ם

yə·rū·šā·lim;
