וַיִּשְׁמַ֞ע
way·yiš·ma‘
And heard
､ הַכְּנַעֲנִ֤י
hak·kə·na·‘ă·nî
the Canaanite ､
מֶֽלֶךְ־
me·leḵ-
the king
עֲרָד֙
‘ă·rāḏ
of Arad
יֹשֵׁ֣ב
yō·šêḇ
､ הַנֶּ֔גֶב
han·ne·ḡeḇ,
the Negev ､
כִּ֚י
kî
בָּ֣א
bā
יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל
yiś·rā·’êl,
דֶּ֖רֶךְ
de·reḵ
on the road to
– הָאֲתָרִ֑ים
hā·’ă·ṯā·rîm;
וַיִּלָּ֙חֶם֙
way·yil·lā·ḥem
､ בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל
bə·yiś·rā·’êl,
וַיִּ֥שְׁבְּ ׀
way·yišb
and took [some]
מִמֶּ֖נּוּ
mim·men·nū
of them
. שֶֽׁבִי׃
še·ḇî.
