O Lord, My God, You Are Very Great

בָּרֲכִ֥י

my soul .

יְהוָ֣ה

､ אֱ֭לֹהַי

my God ､

– גָּדַ֣לְתָּ

You are great –

מְּאֹ֑ד

mə·’ōḏ;

ה֭וֹד

hō·wḏ

וְהָדָ֣ר

wə·hā·ḏār

. לָבָֽשְׁתָּ׃

lā·ḇā·šə·tā.

You are clothed with .

עֹֽטֶה־

‘ō·ṭeh-

Who cover [Yourself] with

א֭וֹר

’ō·wr

､ כַּשַּׂלְמָ֑ה

kaś·śal·māh;

as [with] a garment ､

נוֹטֶ֥ה

nō·w·ṭeh

who stretch out

שָׁ֝מַ֗יִם

ma·yim,

. כַּיְרִיעָֽה׃

kay·rî·‘āh.

like a curtain .

הַ֥מְקָרֶֽה

ham·qā·reh

He lays the beams

– בַמַּ֗יִם

ḇam·ma·yim,

of in the waters –

עֲ‍ֽלִיּ֫וֹתָ֥יו

‘ălî·yō·w·ṯāw

His upper chambers

הַשָּׂם־

haś·śām-

עָבִ֥ים

‘ā·ḇîm

– רְכוּב֑וֹ

rə·ḵū·ḇōw;

His chariot –

הַֽ֝מְהַלֵּ֗ךְ

ham·hal·lêḵ,

עַל־

‘al-

on

כַּנְפֵי־

kan·p̄ê-

– רֽוּחַ׃

rū·aḥ.

of the wind –

עֹשֶׂ֣ה

‘ō·śeh

מַלְאָכָ֣יו

mal·’ā·ḵāw

– רוּח֑וֹת

rū·ḥō·wṯ;

מְ֝שָׁרְתָ֗יו

mə·šā·rə·ṯāw,

– אֵ֣שׁ

’êš

a fire –

. לֹהֵֽט׃

lō·hêṭ.

flame of .

יָֽסַד־

yā·saḏ-

､ אֶ֭רֶץ

’e·reṣ

the earth ､

עַל־

‘al-

מְכוֹנֶ֑יהָ

mə·ḵō·w·ne·hā;

the foundations

בַּל־

bal-

of so [that] not

תִּ֝מּ֗וֹט

tim·mō·wṭ,

it should be moved

עוֹלָ֥ם

‘ō·w·lām

. וָעֶֽד׃

wā·‘eḏ.

תְּ֭הוֹם

tə·hō·wm

With the deep

– כַּלְּב֣וּשׁ

kal·lə·ḇūš

as [with] a garment –

כִּסִּית֑וֹ

kis·sî·ṯōw;

עַל־

‘al-

הָ֝רִ֗ים

hā·rîm,

יַֽעַמְדוּ־

ya·‘am·ḏū-

. מָֽיִם׃

mā·yim.

the waters .

מִן־

min-

At

גַּעֲרָ֣תְךָ֣

ga·‘ă·rā·ṯə·ḵā

– יְנוּס֑וּן

yə·nū·sūn;

מִן־

min-

at

ק֥וֹל

qō·wl

רַֽ֝עַמְךָ֗

ra·‘am·ḵā,

of Your thunder

. יֵחָפֵזֽוּן׃

yê·ḥā·p̄ê·zūn.

they hastened away .

יַעֲל֣וּ

ya·‘ă·lū

– הָ֭רִים

hā·rîm

over the mountains –

יֵרְד֣וּ

yê·rə·ḏū

בְקָע֑וֹת

ḇə·qā·‘ō·wṯ;

into the valleys

אֶל־

’el-

to

מְ֝ק֗וֹם

mə·qō·wm,

זֶ֤ה ׀

zeh

יָסַ֬דְתָּ

yā·saḏ·tā

. לָהֶֽם׃

lā·hem.

גְּֽבוּל־

gə·ḇū·l·śa-

שַׂ֭מְתָּ

mə·tā

בַּל־

bal-

not

– יַֽעֲבֹר֑וּן

ya·‘ă·ḇō·rūn;

that they may pass over –

בַּל־

bal-

not

יְ֝שׁוּב֗וּן

yə·šū·ḇūn,

that they may return

לְכַסּ֥וֹת

lə·ḵas·sō·wṯ

. הָאָֽרֶץ׃

hā·’ā·reṣ.

the earth .

הַֽמְשַׁלֵּ֣חַ

ham·šal·lê·aḥ

מַ֭עְיָנִים

ma‘·yā·nîm

､ בַּנְּחָלִ֑ים

ban·nə·ḥā·lîm;

into the valleys ､

בֵּ֥ין

bên

הָ֝רִ֗ים

hā·rîm,

. יְהַלֵּכֽוּן׃

yə·hal·lê·ḵūn.

יַ֭שְׁקוּ

yaš·qū

They give drink

כָּל־

kāl-

חַיְת֣וֹ

ḥay·ṯōw

– שָׂדָ֑י

śā·ḏāy;

of the field –

יִשְׁבְּר֖וּ

yiš·bə·rū

פְרָאִ֣ים

p̄ə·rā·’îm

the wild donkeys

. צְמָאָֽם׃

ṣə·mā·’ām.

עֲ֭לֵיהֶם

‘ă·lê·hem

עוֹף־

‘ō·wp̄-

הַשָּׁמַ֣יִם

haš·šā·ma·yim

of the heavens

､ יִשְׁכּ֑וֹן

yiš·kō·wn;

have their home ､

מִבֵּ֥ין

mib·bên

עֳ֝פָאיִ֗ם

‘o·p̄ā·yim,

יִתְּנוּ־

yit·tə·nū-

. קֽוֹל׃

qō·wl.

מַשְׁקֶ֣ה

maš·qeh

הָ֭רִים

hā·rîm

– מֵעֲלִיּוֹתָ֑יו

mê·‘ă·lî·yō·w·ṯāw;

from His upper chambers –

מִפְּרִ֥י

mip·pə·rî

with the fruit

מַ֝עֲשֶׂ֗יךָ

ma·‘ă·śe·ḵā,

תִּשְׂבַּ֥ע

tiś·ba‘

. הָאָֽרֶץ׃

hā·’ā·reṣ.

the earth .

מַצְמִ֤יחַ

maṣ·mî·aḥ

He causes to grow

חָצִ֨יר ׀

ḥā·ṣîr

､ לַבְּהֵמָ֗ה

lab·bə·hê·māh,

for the cattle ､

וְ֭עֵשֶׂב

wə·‘ê·śeḇ

לַעֲבֹדַ֣ת

la·‘ă·ḇō·ḏaṯ

for the service

､ הָאָדָ֑ם

hā·’ā·ḏām;

of man ､

לְה֥וֹצִיא

lə·hō·w·ṣî

that he may bring forth

לֶ֝֗חֶם

le·ḥem,

מִן־

min-

– הָאָֽרֶץ׃

hā·’ā·reṣ.

the earth –

וְיַ֤יִן ׀

wə·ya·yin

and wine

יְשַׂמַּ֬ח

yə·śam·maḥ

[that] makes glad

לְֽבַב־

lə·ḇaḇ-

､ אֱנ֗וֹשׁ

’ĕ·nō·wōš,

of man ､

､ לְהַצְהִ֣יל

lə·haṣ·hîl

to make shine ､

פָּנִ֣ים

pā·nîm

מִשָּׁ֑מֶן

miš·šā·men;

וְ֝לֶ֗חֶם

wə·le·ḥem,

לְֽבַב־

lə·ḇaḇ-

אֱנ֥וֹשׁ

’ĕ·nō·wōš

of man

. יִסְעָֽד׃

yis·‘āḏ.

[which] strengthens .

יִ֭שְׂבְּעוּ

yiś·bə·‘ū

Are full [of sap]

עֲצֵ֣י

‘ă·ṣê

יְהוָ֑ה

Yah·weh;

אַֽרְזֵ֥י

’ar·zê

､ לְ֝בָנ֗וֹן

lə·ḇā·nō·wn,

of Lebanon ､

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

’ă·šer

– נָטָֽע׃

nā·ṭā‘.

He planted –

אֲשֶׁר־

’ă·še·rō·šā-

שָׁ֭ם

in it

צִפֳּרִ֣ים

ṣip·po·rîm

– יְקַנֵּ֑נוּ

yə·qan·nê·nū;

make their nests –

､ חֲ֝סִידָ֗ה

ḥă·sî·ḏāh,

the stork has ､

בְּרוֹשִׁ֥ים

bə·rō·wō·šîm

in the fir trees

. בֵּיתָֽהּ׃

bê·ṯāh.

הָרִ֣ים

hā·rîm

הַ֭גְּבֹהִים

hag·gə·ḇō·hîm

the high

– לַיְּעֵלִ֑ים

lay·yə·‘ê·lîm;

for the wild goats –

סְ֝לָעִ֗ים

sə·lā·‘îm,

מַחְסֶ֥ה

maḥ·seh

. לַֽשְׁפַנִּֽים׃

laš·p̄an·nîm.

for the rock badgers .

עָשָׂ֣ה

‘ā·śāh

יָ֭רֵחַ

yā·rê·aḥ

the moon

– לְמוֹעֲדִ֑ים

lə·mō·w·‘ă·ḏîm;

for seasons –

שֶׁ֝֗מֶשׁ

meš

the sun

יָדַ֥ע

yā·ḏa‘

. מְבוֹאֽוֹ׃

mə·ḇō·w·’ōw.

its going down .

תָּֽשֶׁת־

tā·šeṯ-

､ חֹ֭שֶׁךְ

ḥō·šeḵ

וִ֣יהִי

wî·hî

and it is

､ לָ֑יְלָה

lā·yə·lāh;

בּֽוֹ־

bōw-

תִ֝רְמֹ֗שׂ

ṯir·mōś,

כָּל־

kāl-

חַיְתוֹ־

ḥay·ṯōw-

. יָֽעַר׃

yā·‘ar.

of the forest .

הַ֭כְּפִירִים

hak·kə·p̄î·rîm

The young lions

שֹׁאֲגִ֣ים

šō·’ă·ḡîm

､ לַטָּ֑רֶף

laṭ·ṭā·rep̄;

after their prey ､

וּלְבַקֵּ֖שׁ

ū·lə·ḇaq·qêš

and seek

מֵאֵ֣ל

mê·’êl

. אָכְלָֽם׃

’ā·ḵə·lām.

､ תִּזְרַ֣ח

tiz·raḥ

[when] rises ､

הַ֭שֶּׁמֶשׁ

haš·še·meš

the sun

､ יֵאָסֵפ֑וּן

yê·’ā·sê·p̄ūn;

they gather together ､

וְאֶל־

wə·’el-

and in

מְ֝עוֹנֹתָ֗ם

mə·‘ō·w·nō·ṯām,

. יִרְבָּצֽוּן׃

yir·bā·ṣūn.

יֵצֵ֣א

yê·ṣê

אָדָ֣ם

’ā·ḏām

לְפָעֳל֑וֹ

lə·p̄ā·‘o·lōw;

וְֽלַעֲבֹ֖דָת֣וֹ

wə·la·‘ă·ḇō·ḏā·ṯōw

and to his labor

עֲדֵי־

‘ă·ḏê-

. עָֽרֶב׃

‘ā·reḇ.

מָֽה־

māh-

רַבּ֬וּ

rab·bū

! מַעֲשֶׂ֨יךָ ׀

ma·‘ă·śe·ḵā

､ יְֽהוָ֗ה

Yah·weh

– כֻּ֭לָּם

kul·lām

בְּחָכְמָ֣ה

bə·ḥā·ḵə·māh

עָשִׂ֑יתָ

‘ā·śî·ṯā;

מָלְאָ֥ה

mā·lə·’āh

הָ֝אָ֗רֶץ

hā·’ā·reṣ,

of the earth

. קִנְיָנֶֽךָ׃

qin·yā·ne·ḵā.

Your possessions .

זֶ֤ה ׀

zeh

､ הַיָּ֥ם

sea ､

גָּדוֹל֮

וּרְחַ֪ב

and

יָ֫דָ֥יִם

innumerable ､

Living things .

קְ֝טַנּ֗וֹת

qə·ṭan·nō·wṯ,

עִם־

‘im-

and

. גְּדֹלֽוֹת׃

gə·ḏō·lō·wṯ.

שָׁ֭ם

– אֳנִיּ֣וֹת

’o·nî·yō·wṯ

the ships –

יְהַלֵּכ֑וּן

yə·hal·lê·ḵūn;

､ לִ֝וְיָתָ֗ן

liw·yā·ṯān,

[There is] that Leviathan ､

זֶֽה־

zeh-

יָצַ֥רְתָּ

yā·ṣar·tā

לְשַֽׂחֶק־

lə·śa·ḥeq-

. בּֽוֹ׃

bōw.

כֻּ֭לָּם

kul·lām

אֵלֶ֣יךָ

’ê·le·ḵā

יְשַׂבֵּר֑וּן

yə·śab·bê·rūn;

לָתֵ֖ת

lā·ṯêṯ

that You may give [them]

אָכְלָ֣ם

’ā·ḵə·lām

. בְּעִתּֽוֹ׃

bə·‘it·tōw.

in due season .

תִּתֵּ֣ן

tit·tên

[What] You give

לָ֭הֶם

lā·hem

– יִלְקֹט֑וּן

yil·qō·ṭūn;

they gather in –

תִּפְתַּ֥ח

tip̄·taḥ

､ יָֽ֝דְךָ֗

yā·ḏə·ḵā,

יִשְׂבְּע֥וּן

yiś·bə·‘ūn

they are filled with

. טֽוֹב׃

ṭō·wḇ.

תַּסְתִּ֥יר

tas·tîr

､ פָּנֶיךָ֮

pā·ne·ḵā

– יִֽבָּהֵ֫ל֥וּן

yib·bā·hê·lūn

they are troubled –

תֹּסֵ֣ף

tō·sêp̄

､ ר֭וּחָם

rū·ḥām

their breath ､

､ יִגְוָע֑וּן

yiḡ·wā·‘ūn;

וְֽאֶל־

wə·’el-

and to

עֲפָרָ֥ם

‘ă·p̄ā·rām

. יְשׁוּבֽוּן׃

yə·šū·ḇūn.

תְּשַׁלַּ֣ח

tə·šal·laḥ

､ ר֭וּחֲךָ

rū·ḥă·ḵā

Your Spirit ､

– יִבָּרֵא֑וּן

yib·bā·rê·’ūn;

they are created –

וּ֝תְחַדֵּ֗שׁ

ū·ṯə·ḥad·dêš,

פְּנֵ֣י

pə·nê

the face

. אֲדָמָֽה׃

’ă·ḏā·māh.

of the earth .

יְהִ֤י

yə·hî

כְב֣וֹד

ḵə·ḇō·wḏ

יְהוָ֣ה

Yah·weh

– לְעוֹלָ֑ם

lə·‘ō·w·lām;

יִשְׂמַ֖ח

yiś·maḥ

יְהוָ֣ה

Yah·weh

. בְּמַעֲשָֽׂיו׃

bə·ma·‘ă·śāw.

הַמַּבִּ֣יט

ham·mab·bîṭ

､ לָ֭אָרֶץ

lā·’ā·reṣ

on the earth ､

– וַתִּרְעָ֑ד

wat·tir·‘āḏ;

and it trembles –

יִגַּ֖ע

yig·ga‘

､ בֶּהָרִ֣ים

be·hā·rîm

the hills ､

. וְֽיֶעֱשָֽׁנוּ׃

wə·ye·‘ĕ·šā·nū.

and they smoke .

אָשִׁ֣ירָה

’ā·šî·rāh

I will sing

לַיהוָ֣ה

Yah·weh

– בְּחַיָּ֑י

bə·ḥay·yāy;

as long as I live –

אֲזַמְּרָ֖ה

’ă·zam·mə·rāh

I will sing praise

לֵאלֹהַ֣י

lê·lō·hay

to my God

. בְּעוֹדִֽי׃

bə·‘ō·w·ḏî.

while I have my being .

– יֶעֱרַ֣ב

ye·‘ĕ·raḇ

May be sweet –

עָלָ֣יו

‘ā·lāw

to Him

שִׂיחִ֑י

śî·ḥî;

אָ֝נֹכִ֗י

’ā·nō·ḵî,

I

אֶשְׂמַ֥ח

’eś·maḥ

will be glad

. בַּיהוָֽה׃

Yah·weh.

יִתַּ֤מּוּ

yit·tam·mū

May be consumed

חַטָּאִ֨ים ׀

ḥaṭ·ṭā·’îm

מִן־

min-

､ הָאָ֡רֶץ

hā·’ā·reṣ

the earth ､

וּרְשָׁעִ֤ים ׀

ū·rə·šā·‘îm

and the wicked

. ע֤וֹד

‘ō·wḏ

אֵינָ֗ם

’ê·nām,

Be no

בָּרֲכִ֣י

bā·ră·ḵî

. נַ֭פְשִׁי

my soul .
