My Soul Takes Refuge in You

､ לַמְנַצֵּ֣חַ

lam·naṣ·ṣê·aḥ

､ לְדָוִ֣ד

lə·ḏā·wiḏ

מִכְתָּ֑ם

miḵ·tām;

בְּבָרְח֥וֹ

bə·ḇā·rə·ḥōw

מִפְּנֵי־

mip·pə·nê·šā-

שָׁ֝א֗וּל

’ūl,

. בַּמְּעָרָֽה׃

bam·mə·‘ā·rāh.

into the cave .

חָנֵּ֤נִי

ḥān·nê·nî

Be merciful to me

､ אֱלֹהִ֨ים ׀

’ĕ·lō·hîm

God ､

חָנֵּ֗נִי

ḥān·nê·nî

be merciful to me

כִּ֥י

kî

בְךָ֮

ḇə·ḵā

in You

חָסָ֪יָה

ḥā·sā·yāh

נַ֫פְשִׁ֥י

nap̄·šî

וּבְצֵֽל־

ū·ḇə·ṣêl-

and in the shadow

כְּנָפֶ֥יךָ

kə·nā·p̄e·ḵā

､ אֶחְסֶ֑ה

’eḥ·seh;

I will make my refuge ､

עַ֝֗ד

‘aḏ,

יַעֲבֹ֥ר

ya·‘ă·ḇōr

. הַוּֽוֹת׃

haw·wō·wṯ.

[these] calamities .

אֶ֭קְרָא

’eq·rā

I will cry out

לֵֽאלֹהִ֣ים

lê·lō·hîm

to God

– עֶלְי֑וֹן

‘el·yō·wn;

לָ֝אֵ֗ל

lā·’êl,

to God

גֹּמֵ֥ר

gō·mêr

who performs [all things]

. עָלָֽי׃

‘ā·lāy.

for me .

יִשְׁלַ֤ח

yiš·laḥ

､ מִשָּׁמַ֨יִם ׀

miš·šā·ma·yim

from heaven ､

וְֽיוֹשִׁיעֵ֗נִי

wə·yō·wō·šî·‘ê·nî,

and save me

חֵרֵ֣ף

ḥê·rêp̄

. שֹׁאֲפִ֣י

šō·’ă·p̄î

the one who would swallow me up .

. סֶ֑לָה

se·lāh;

יִשְׁלַ֥ח

yiš·laḥ

Shall send forth

אֱ֝לֹהִ֗ים

’ĕ·lō·hîm,

חַסְדּ֥וֹ

ḥas·dōw

. וַאֲמִתּֽוֹ׃

wa·’ă·mit·tōw.

and His truth .

נַפְשִׁ֤י ׀

nap̄·šî

My soul [is]

בְּת֥וֹךְ

bə·ṯō·wḵ

– לְבָאִם֮

lə·ḇā·’im

אֶשְׁכְּבָ֪ה

’eš·kə·ḇāh

､ לֹ֫הֲטִ֥ים

lō·hă·ṭîm

who are set on fire ､

בְּֽנֵי־

bə·nê-

[among] the sons

､ אָדָ֗ם

’ā·ḏām,

of men ､

שִׁ֭נֵּיהֶם

nê·hem

Whose teeth [are]

חֲנִ֣ית

ḥă·nîṯ

､ וְחִצִּ֑ים

wə·ḥiṣ·ṣîm;

and arrows ､

וּ֝לְשׁוֹנָ֗ם

ū·lə·šō·w·nām,

and their tongue

חֶ֣רֶב

ḥe·reḇ

. חַדָּֽה׃

ḥad·dāh.

､ ר֣וּמָה

rū·māh

Be exalted ､

עַל־

‘al-

– הַשָּׁמַ֣יִם

haš·šā·ma·yim

the heavens –

､ אֱלֹהִ֑ים

’ĕ·lō·hîm;

God ､

עַ֖ל

‘al

כָּל־

kāl-

הָאָ֣רֶץ

hā·’ā·reṣ

. כְּבוֹדֶֽךָ׃

kə·ḇō·w·ḏe·ḵā.

[let] Your glory [be] .

רֶ֤שֶׁת ׀

re·šeṯ

הֵכִ֣ינוּ

hê·ḵî·nū

they have prepared

– לִפְעָמַי֮

lip̄·‘ā·may

for my steps –

– כָּפַ֪ף

kā·p̄ap̄

is bowed down –

נַ֫פְשִׁ֥י

nap̄·šî

כָּר֣וּ

kā·rū

לְפָנַ֣י

lə·p̄ā·nay

שִׁיחָ֑ה

šî·ḥāh;

נָפְל֖וּ

nā·p̄ə·lū

they [themselves] have fallen

בְתוֹכָ֣הּ

ḇə·ṯō·w·ḵāh

Into the midst of it

. סֶֽלָה׃

se·lāh.

､ נָ֘כ֤וֹן

nā·ḵō·wn

Is steadfast ､

לִבִּ֣י

lib·bî

､ אֱ֭לֹהִים

’ĕ·lō·hîm

God ､

– נָכ֣וֹן

nā·ḵō·wn

is steadfast –

לִבִּ֑י

lib·bî;

אָ֝שִׁ֗ירָה

’ā·šî·rāh,

I will sing

. וַאֲזַמֵּֽרָה׃

wa·’ă·zam·mê·rāh.

and give praise .

､ ע֤וּרָה

‘ū·rāh

– כְבוֹדִ֗י

ḵə·ḇō·w·ḏî,

my glory –

､ ע֭וּרָֽה

‘ū·rāh

הַנֵּ֥בֶל

han·nê·ḇel

! וְכִנּ֗וֹר

wə·ḵin·nō·wr,

and harp !

אָעִ֥ירָה

’ā·‘î·rāh

I will awaken

. שָּֽׁחַר׃

šā·ḥar.

the dawn .

אוֹדְךָ֖

’ō·wḏ·ḵā

I will praise You

– בָעַמִּ֥ים ׀

ḇā·‘am·mîm

among the peoples –

､ אֲדֹנָ֑י

’ă·ḏō·nāy;

Lord ､

אֲ֝זַמֶּרְךָ֗

’ă·zam·mer·ḵā,

I will sing to You

בַּל־

bal-

. אֻמִּֽים׃

’um·mîm.

כִּֽי־

kî-

גָדֹ֣ל

ḡā·ḏōl

עַד־

‘aḏ-

､ שָׁמַ֣יִם

šā·ma·yim

the heavens ､

חַסְדֶּ֑ךָ

ḥas·de·ḵā;

וְֽעַד־

wə·‘aḏ-

and unto

שְׁחָקִ֥ים

šə·ḥā·qîm

. אֲמִתֶּֽךָ׃

’ă·mit·te·ḵā.

､ ר֣וּמָה

rū·māh

Be exalted ､

עַל־

‘al-

､ שָׁמַ֣יִם

šā·ma·yim

the heavens ､

､ אֱלֹהִ֑ים

’ĕ·lō·hîm;

God ､

עַ֖ל

‘al

כָּל־

kāl-

הָאָ֣רֶץ

hā·’ā·reṣ

. כְּבוֹדֶֽךָ׃

kə·ḇō·w·ḏe·ḵā.

[let] Your glory [be] .
