'Labored in Vain' in the Bible

And the fish which is in the river shall die, and the river be loathsome: and the Egyptians labored in vain to drink the water from the river.

Song of ascensions to Solomon. If Jehovah shall not build the house, they building it, in it labored in vain. If Jehovah shall not watch the city, he watching, watched in vain.

And I said, I labored in vain, for emptiness; and I finish my strength vainly; surely my judgment is with Jehovah and my work with my God.
