Matthew 12:22-32 - A House Divided Cannot Stand

Matthew 12:22-32

22 THEN a blind and dumb demoniac was brought to him, and he cured him, so that the blind and dumb spoke and saw. 23 And all the multitudes wondered and said, Is this the Son of David?

24 But the Pharisees hearing it, said, This man does not cast out demons, except by Beelzebul, a ruler of the demons.

25 But knowing their thoughts, he said to them, Every kingdom divided against itself is destroyed; and no city or house divided against itself can stand. 26 If Satan casts out Satan he is divided against himself. How then can his kingdom stand? 27 And if I by Beelzebul cast out demons, by whom do your sons cast them out? Therefore they shall be your judges. 28 But if I by the Spirit of God cast out demons, then the kingdom of God has come upon you. 29 Or how can one enter into the house of a strong man and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man, and then he will plunder his house. 30 He that is not with me is against me, and he that gathers not with me scatters. 31 Therefore, I tell you, every sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven men, but the blasphemy of the Spirit shall not be forgiven men. 32 And if one speaks a word against the Son of man it shall be forgiven him; but if one speaks against the Holy Spirit it shall not be forgiven him either in this life or in that to come.

Mark 3:20-30

20 and again a multitude came together, so that they could not eat bread. 21 And those with him hearing of it, went out to take him; for they said, He is beside himself.

22 And the scribes coming down from Jerusalem said, He has Beelzebul, and casts out demons by the ruler of demons.

23 And calling them, he said to them in parables, How can Satan cast out Satan? 24 And if a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand; 25 and if a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand; 26 and if Satan has risen up against himself, and is divided, he cannot stand, but has an end.

27 But no one can enter into the house of a strong man, and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man, and then he will plunder his house. 28 I tell you truly, That all sins and blasphemies with which they blaspheme shall be forgiven the children of men; 29 but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit shall never have forgiveness, but is the subject of an eternal mistake; 30 because they said, He has an impure spirit.

Luke 11:14-23

14 AND he cast out a demon, and it was dumb. And when the demon had gone out, the dumb spoke; and the multitudes wondered. 15 But some of them said, He casts out demons by Beelzebul, the ruler of demons; 16 and others, trying him, asked of him a sign from heaven.

17 But he, knowing their thoughts, said to them, Every kingdom divided against itself is desolated, and house falls upon house. 18 And if Satan is divided against himself, how shall his kingdom stand? because you say that I cast out demons by Beelzebul. 19 But if I by Beelzebul cast out demons, by whom do your sons cast them out? they, therefore, shall be your judges. 20 But if by a finger of God I cast out demons, then the kingdom of God has come upon you. 21 When a strong man armed keeps his court, his goods are in peace; 22 but when a stronger man than he comes upon him, and overcomes him, he takes away all his arms in which he trusted, and distributes his spoils. 23 He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathers not with me scatters.
