Matthew 22:41-46 - David's Son And Lord

⁴¹ Now while the pharisees were thus gathered together, Jesus asked them, ⁴² saying, What think ye of the Messiah? whose son is He? They say unto Him, David's.

⁴³ He saith unto them, How then does David by inspiration call Him Lord,

⁴⁴ saying, The Lord said unto my Lord, "Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool?"

⁴⁵ therefore if David call Him Lord, how is He his son? ⁴⁶ And no one was able to answer Him a word, nor did any dare, from that day, to ask Him any more such questions.

³⁵ And Jesus spake and said, as He was teaching in the temple, How do the scribes say, that the Christ is the son of David? ³⁶ for David himself said by the holy Spirit, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand till I make thine enemies thy footstool.

³⁷ So that David himself calleth Him Lord: how then is He his son? And many of the people heard Him with pleasure.

⁴¹ And He said unto them, How do they say, that Christ is the son of David? ⁴² when David himself saith in the book of Psalms, "The Lord said unto my Lord, ⁴³ Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool."

⁴⁴ David therefore calleth Him Lord, and how is He then his son?
