Matthew 23:37-39 - The Lament Over Jerusalem

³⁷ O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them that are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not! ³⁸ Behold your house shall be left you desolate: ³⁹ for I tell you, ye shall not see me after this, till ye shall say, Blessed is He that cometh in the name of the Lord.

³¹ At the same time came some of the pharisees, and said to Him, Go out and depart hence, for Herod intends to kill thee.

³² And He said to them, Go, tell that fox, Behold, I cast out demons and perform cures today and to-morrow; and in a little while I am to be perfected: ³³ but I must procede to-day and to-morrow and the following; for it cannot be supposed that a prophet should be cut off but in Jerusalem.
