Matthew 4:18-22 - Jesus Calls His First Disciples
18 And while walking by the lake of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the lake; for they were fishers. 19 And he saith to them, Come after me, and I will make you fishers of men. 20 And they immediately left their nets, and followed him.
21 And going on from thence, he saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and he called them. 22 And they immediately left the boat and their father, and followed him.
16 And as he was passing along by the lake of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew the brother of Simon dragging a net in the lake; for they were fishers.
17 And Jesus said to them, Come after me, and I will cause you to become fishers of men. 18 And immediately they left their nets, and followed him. 19 And going on a little farther, he saw James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, who also were in the boat mending the nets; 20 and immediately he called them. And leaving their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired men, they went after him.
21 And they enter Capernaum; and immediately on the sabbath he was teaching in the synagogue.
1 And it came to pass, as the multitude was pressing upon him and hearing the word of God, that he was standing by the lake of Gennesaret, 2 and saw two boats standing by the lake; but the fishermen had gone out of them, and had washed the nets. 3 And going into one of the boats, which was Simons, he asked him to put out a little from the land. And sitting down in the boat, he taught the multitudes.
4 And when he had done speaking, he said to Simon, Put out into deep water, and let down your nets for a draught.
5 And Simon answering said, Master, we toiled all night, and took nothing; but at thy word I will let down the nets.
6 And having done this, they inclosed great multitude of fishes; and their nets began to break. 7 And they beckoned to their partners in the other boat, to come and help them; and they came, and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink.
8 And Simon Peter seeing it fell down at the knees of Jesus, saying, Depart from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man. 9 For he and all that were with him were amazed at the draught of fishes, which they had taken; 10 and so were also James and John the sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon And Jesus said to Simon, Fear not; henceforth thou shalt catch men. 11 And when they had brought their boats to land, they left everything, and followed him.
