Matthew 28:1-10 - Jesus Is Raised
1 And after the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the sepulcher. 2 And behold, there had been a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord having descended from heaven, came and rolled away the stone from the door, and sat upon it. 3 His appearance was like lightning, and his raiment was white as snow. 4 From fear of him the keepers did shake and become like dead men.
5 But the angel answered and said to the women: Fear not; for I know that you seek Jesus, who was crucified. 6 He is not here; for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. 7 And go quickly, and tell his disciples, that he has risen from the dead: and behold, he goes before you into Galilee. There you shall see him. Lo, I have told you.
8 And they went out quickly from the sepulcher, with fear and great joy, and ran to tell his disciples. 9 And as they were going to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying: Hail! And they came and laid hold of his feet, and worshiped him. 10 Then Jesus said to them: Fear not; go, tell my brethren to go into Galilee, and there they shall see me.
1 And when the sabbath had passed, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, bought spices, that they might come and anoint him. 2 And very early, on the first day of the week, when the sun had risen, they came to the sepulcher. 3 And they said among themselves: Who will roll away the stone for us from the door of the sepulcher? 4 for it was very great. And looking up, they saw that the stone had been rolled away. 5 And they entered the sepulcher, and saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed in a white robe: and they were frightened.
6 But he said to them: Be not frightened; you seek Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen; he is not here: see the place where they laid him. 7 But go, tell his disciples, and Peter, that he goes before you into Galilee; there you shall see him, as he told you.
8 And they went out, and fled from the sepulcher; for trembling and astonishment seized upon them. And they said nothing to any one, for they were afraid.
1 And on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they came to the sepulcher, bringing the spices which they had prepared; and with them came certain others. 2 And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulcher; 3 and they entered in, but found not the body of the Lord Jesus. 4 And it came to pass, while they were much perplexed at this, behold, two men stood by them in shining raiment. 5 And while they feared and bowed their faces to the earth, they said to them: Why seek you among the dead for him that lives? 6 He is not here, but he has risen; remember that he spoke to you while he was yet in Galilee, 7 saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again. 8 And they remembered his words,
9 and returned from the sepulcher, and told all these things to the eleven and to the rest. 10 It was Mary Magdalene and Joanna and Mary the mother of James, and the others with them, that told these things to the apostles. 11 And their words seemed to them as idle tales, and they believed them not. 12 But Peter arose and ran to the sepulcher, and stooping down, he saw the linen clothes lying by themselves; and he departed, wondering in himself at that which had come to pass.
1 And early on the first day of the week, while it was yet dark, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb, and saw that the stone had been taken away from the tomb. 2 Then she ran and came to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved, and said to them: They have taken away the Lord out of the tomb, and we know not where they have laid him.
3 Then Peter and the other disciple went out, and came to the tomb. 4 And the two ran together; and the other disciple outran Peter, and came first to the tomb; 5 and he stooped down and saw the linen cloths lying, but he did not go in. 6 Then came Simon Peter, following him; and he went into the tomb, and saw the linen cloths lying, 7 and the handkerchief that had been on his head, not lying with the linen cloths, but folded in a place by itself. 8 Then, therefore, the other disciple, who came first to the tomb, went in, and saw, and believed. 9 For, as yet, they did not know the scripture, that he must rise from the dead.
