Matthew 26:31-35 - Jesus Predicts Peter's Denial

Matthew 26:31-35

31 Then Jesus said to them: All of you will he offended at me this night; for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered.

32 But after I have risen, I will go before you into Galilee.

33 Peter answered and said to him: Though all shall be offended at thee, yet will I never be offended.

34 Jesus said to him: Verily I say to you, This night, before the cock crows, you will deny me three times.

35 Peter said to him: Though it should be necessary for me to die with thee, I will not deny thee. In like manner said all the disciples.

Mark 14:27-31

27 And Jesus said to them: All of you will find in me an occasion for offense this night; for it is written: I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered.

28 But after I have risen, I will go before you into Galilee.

29 Peter said to him: Though all should find occasion for offense, yet I will not.

30 And Jesus said to him: Verily I say to you, this day, during this very night, before the cock crows twice, you will deny me three times.

31 But he said with the more vehemence: Though it should be necessary for me to die with thee, I would not deny thee. And so said they all.

Luke 22:31-34

31 And the Lord said: Simon, Simon, behold, Satan has demanded you apostles for himself, that he may sift you as wheat. 32 But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith fail not. And when you have turned to me again, strengthen your brethren.

33 And he said to him: Lord, I am ready to go with thee, both to prison and to death.

34 He replied: I tell you, Peter, the cock shall not crow this day before you have three times denied that you know me.

John 13:31-38

31 When he had gone out, Jesus said: Now is the Son of man glorified, and God is glorified in him. 32 If God is glorified in him, God will also glorify him in himself, and will immediately glorify him.

33 Little children, yet a little while I am with you. You will seek me, and, as I said to the Jews, whither I go, you can not come, so now I say to you.

34 A new commandment I give to you, That you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 35 By this shall all men know that you are my disciples, if you have love one for another.

36 Simon Peter said to him: Lord, whither goest thou? Jesus answered him: Whither I go, you can not follow me now; but you shall follow me hereafter.

37 Peter said to him: Lord, why can I not follow thee now? I will lay down my life for thee.

38 Jesus answered him: Will you lay down your life for me? Verily, verily I say to you, the cock will not crow till you have denied me three times.
