Matthew 26:31-35 - Jesus Predicts Peter's Denial
31 Then Jesus said unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night; for it is written, I will smite the Shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad.
32 But after I am risen again, I will go before you into Galilee.
33 Peter answered and said unto him, Though all men shall be offended in thee, yet I will never be offended.
34 Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this night before the cock crows, thou shalt deny me three times.
35 Peter said unto him, Though I should die with thee, yet will I not deny thee. Likewise also said all the disciples.
27 Then Jesus said unto them, All ye shall be scandalized in me this night; for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered.
28 But after I have risen, I will go before you into Galilee.
29 Then Peter said unto him, Although all be scandalized, yet I will not.
30 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this day, even in this night, before the cock crows twice, thou shalt deny me three times.
31 But he spoke the more vehemently, If I should die with thee, I will not deny thee in any wise. Likewise also said the others.
31 And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan has desired to have you that he may sift you as wheat; 32 but I have prayed for thee that thy faith fail not; and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.
33 And he said unto him, Lord, I am ready to go with thee, both into prison and to death.
34 And he said, I tell thee, Peter, thou shalt deny three times that thou knowest me before the cock shall crow this day.
31 Therefore, when he was gone out, Jesus said, Now is the Son of man clarified, and God is clarified in him. 32 If God is clarified in him, God shall also clarify him in himself and shall straightway clarify him.
33 Little children, yet a little while I am with you. Ye shall seek me; and as I said unto the Jews, Where I go, ye cannot come, so now I say to you.
34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. 35 By this shall everyone know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.
36 Simon Peter said unto him, Lord, where goest thou? Jesus answered him, Where I go, thou canst not follow me now; but thou shalt follow me afterwards.
37 Peter said unto him, Lord, why cannot I follow thee now? I will lay down my soul for thy sake.
38 Jesus answered him, Wilt thou lay down thy soul for my sake? Verily, verily, I say unto thee, The cock shall not crow until thou hast denied me three times.
