Matthew 26:31-35 - Jesus Predicts Peter's Denial

³¹ Then Jesus said unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night; for it is written, I will smite the Shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad.

³² But after I am risen again, I will go before you into Galilee.

³³ Peter answered and said unto him, Though all men shall be offended in thee, yet I will never be offended.

³⁴ Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this night before the cock crows, thou shalt deny me three times.

³⁵ Peter said unto him, Though I should die with thee, yet will I not deny thee. Likewise also said all the disciples.

²⁷ Then Jesus said unto them, All ye shall be scandalized in me this night; for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered.

²⁸ But after I have risen, I will go before you into Galilee.

²⁹ Then Peter said unto him, Although all be scandalized, yet I will not.

³⁰ And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this day, even in this night, before the cock crows twice, thou shalt deny me three times.

³¹ But he spoke the more vehemently, If I should die with thee, I will not deny thee in any wise. Likewise also said the others.

³¹ And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan has desired to have you that he may sift you as wheat; ³² but I have prayed for thee that thy faith fail not; and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.

³³ And he said unto him, Lord, I am ready to go with thee, both into prison and to death.

³⁴ And he said, I tell thee, Peter, thou shalt deny three times that thou knowest me before the cock shall crow this day.

³¹ Therefore, when he was gone out, Jesus said, Now is the Son of man clarified, and God is clarified in him. ³² If God is clarified in him, God shall also clarify him in himself and shall straightway clarify him.

³³ Little children, yet a little while I am with you. Ye shall seek me; and as I said unto the Jews, Where I go, ye cannot come, so now I say to you.

³⁴ A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. ³⁵ By this shall everyone know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

³⁶ Simon Peter said unto him, Lord, where goest thou? Jesus answered him, Where I go, thou canst not follow me now; but thou shalt follow me afterwards.

³⁷ Peter said unto him, Lord, why cannot I follow thee now? I will lay down my soul for thy sake.

³⁸ Jesus answered him, Wilt thou lay down thy soul for my sake? Verily, verily, I say unto thee, The cock shall not crow until thou hast denied me three times.
