John 13:1-20 - Jesus Washes His Disciples' Feet

Now, before the feast of the passover, Jesus, knowing that His hour came that He should depart out of this world to the Father, having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them to the end.

And, supper being in progress, the Devil having already put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray Him, 3 knowing that the Father gave all things into His hands, and that He came forth from God, and was going to God, 4 He riseth from the supper, and layeth aside His garments; and, taking a towel, He girded Himself. 5 Then He poureth water into the basin, and began to wash the disciples' feet, and to wipe them with the towel with which He was girded.

He cometh, therefore, to Simon Peter. He says to Him, "Lord, dost Thou wash my feet?"

Jesus answered, and said to him, "What I am doing you know not now; but you shall know hereafter."

Peter says to Him, "Thou shalt never wash my feet!" Jesus answered him, "If I wash you not, you have no part with Me."

Simon Peter says to Him, "Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head."

Jesus saith to him, "He who has bathed has no need, except to wash his feet, but is wholly clean; and ye are clean, but not all;" 11 for He knew him who would betray Him; on this account, He said, "Ye are not all clean."

When, therefore, He washed their feet, and took His garments, and reclined again, He said to them, "Do ye know what I have done to you? 13 Ye call Me 'The Teacher,' and 'The Lord;' and ye say well; for so I am. 14 If, therefore, I, 'The Lord,' and 'The Teacher,' washed your feet, ye also ought to wash one another's feet; 15 for I gave you an example, that, as I did to you, ye also should do.

Verily, verily, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his lord, nor one who is sent greater than he who sent him. 17 If ye know these things, happy are ye, if ye do them. 18 I speak not concerning all of you: I know whom I chose; but, that the Scripture may be fulfilled, 'He that eats My bread lifted up his heel against Me.'

From this time, I tell you before it comes to pass; that, when it comes to pass, ye may believe that I am He. 20 Verily, verily, I say to you, he who receives whomsoever I send receives Me; and he who receives Me receives Him who sent Me."
