Mark 2:13-17 - Levi Called To Follow Jesus

¹³ And He went again by the sea; and all the multitude were coming to Him, and He was teaching them. ¹⁴ And passing by, He saw Levi, the son of Alphaeus, sitting at the tax-office, and saith to him, "Follow Me." And, rising up, he followed Him.

¹⁵ And it comes to pass that He reclines at table in his house, and many tax-collectors and sinners recline with Him and His disciples; for there were many, and they were following Him. ¹⁶ And the scribes of the Pharisees, seeing that He was eating with the sinners and tax-collectors, said to His disciples, "Why doth He eat with the tax-collectors and sinners?"

¹⁷ And Jesus, hearing it, says to them, "Those who are well need not a physician, but those who are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners."

²⁷ And, after these things, He went forth, and beheld a tax-collector, Levi by name, sitting at the tax-office; and He said to him, "Follow Me." ²⁸ And, having forsaken all, rising up, he followed Him.

²⁹ And Levi made a great reception for Him in his house; and there was a great multitude of tax-collectors and of others who were reclining at table with them. ³⁰ And the Pharisees and their scribes were murmuring against the disciples, saying, "Why are ye eating and drinking with the tax-collectors and sinners?"

³¹ And Jesus, answering, said to them, "Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. ³² I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance."
