Mark 2:13-17 - Levi Called To Follow Jesus

Mark 2:13-17

13 And He went again by the sea; and all the multitude were coming to Him, and He was teaching them. 14 And passing by, He saw Levi, the son of Alphaeus, sitting at the tax-office, and saith to him, "Follow Me." And, rising up, he followed Him.

15 And it comes to pass that He reclines at table in his house, and many tax-collectors and sinners recline with Him and His disciples; for there were many, and they were following Him. 16 And the scribes of the Pharisees, seeing that He was eating with the sinners and tax-collectors, said to His disciples, "Why doth He eat with the tax-collectors and sinners?"

17 And Jesus, hearing it, says to them, "Those who are well need not a physician, but those who are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners."

Luke 5:27-32

27 And, after these things, He went forth, and beheld a tax-collector, Levi by name, sitting at the tax-office; and He said to him, "Follow Me." 28 And, having forsaken all, rising up, he followed Him.

29 And Levi made a great reception for Him in his house; and there was a great multitude of tax-collectors and of others who were reclining at table with them. 30 And the Pharisees and their scribes were murmuring against the disciples, saying, "Why are ye eating and drinking with the tax-collectors and sinners?"

31 And Jesus, answering, said to them, "Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. 32 I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance."
