1 John 1:1-4 - Prologue

¹ That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have contemplated, and our very hands have felt concerning the Word of life, ² (for this Life was manifested, and we saw it; and we testify and declare unto you that eternal Life, which was with the Father, ³ and was manifested unto us) what we have seen and heard we declare unto you, that ye also may have communion with us: and our communion is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ. ⁴ And these things we write unto you, that your joy may be complete.

¹ The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto Him, to shew to his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and He sent and signified it by his angel to his servant John, ² who bare witness to the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ, and to whatever He saw. ³ Happy is he that readeth, and those that hear the words of the prophecy, and keep the things that are written therein: for the time is near.
