Song of Songs 2:8-15 - Rendezvous In The Countryside
8 (The Shulamite) The voice of my beloved! Behold, he comes leaping upon the mountains, skipping upon the hills. 9 My beloved is like a gazelle or a young stag. Behold, he stands behind our wall, he looks through the windows, gazing through the lattice. 10 My beloved spoke, and said to me, 'Raise up, my love, my fair one, and come away. 11 For, lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone. 12 The flowers appear on the earth. The time of singing birds has come. The voice of the turtle is heard in our land. 13 The fig tree puts forth her green figs, and the vines with the tender grape give a good smell. Arise, my love, my fair one, and come away!'
14 O my dove, you are in the clefts of the rock, in the secret places of the stairs. Let me see your countenance. Let me hear your voice. For sweet is your voice, and your countenance is lovely.
15 (Her Brothers) Catch the foxes for us, the little foxes that spoil the vines: for our vines have tender grapes.
11 Come, my beloved, let us go into the field. Let us lodge in the villages. 12 Let us get up early to the vineyards. Let us see if the vine flourish, whether the tender grape appear, and the pomegranates bud forth. There I will give you my love. 13 The mandrakes give a smell, and at our gates are all manner of pleasant fruits, new and old, which I have laid up for you, O my beloved.
